BRIDGES TO COMMUNITY SERVICE-LEARNING PROGRAM IN NICARAGUA

2015-2016 STUDENT APPLICATION

OVERVIEW

Dates
Spring Break : Friday, March 25th - Sunday April 3rd, 2016

Trip Cost and Fundraising


1. $1295 for program fee plus airfare. This cost is before you receive reimbursements from group
fundraising and includes all expenses for the trip.
2. Fundraising will be done on a group and individual basis. Ideas and guidance will be provided!

Class Component
There will be a mandatory 2-credit seminar (DSOC 4500) in the Spring semester. Students will discuss
the themes of service-learning, international aid, sustainable living, poverty, and the Nicaraguan culture.
Class will meet once a week at a determined time and place.

Field Work Component


In Nicaragua, we will spend time in impoverished rural communities and engage in local building
projects. We will remain as a group with local guides in a home-stay setting. There will be cultural
exchanges, day-trips, and weekend travel time.

Application Timeline
APPLY EARLY BEFORE SPOTS FILL UP!
We will accept applications on a rolling basis until December 17th.
You will be notified within a week of turning in your application if you have been accepted. You will
then have 7 days to turn in a $300 non-refundable deposit.
