o
o Throughout the novel, we will have Survivor Days. Pay attention to classroom announcements so that you
know when they are approaching. In order to be successful, you need to do your reading and be thoughtful
in your analysis of your character and his motivations.
o
o On these days, you will present a proposal to Mrs. Taylor regarding the allocation of 5 points. You can
choose to distribute these points in any way, so long as it is based on the reading. Your proposal will either
be granted or denied. If you want to be approved, your proposal should include a clear claim (thesis),
ample and valuable textual evidence from the most recent section of reading, and a thoughtful analysis of
your textual evidence.
o
o Procedure/Notes:
You will be given no more than 8 minutes with your character group to draft your proposal.
A representative from your group will present your proposal to Mrs. Taylor and the class.
Mrs. Taylor will either grant or deny your proposal. Keep in mind that if your proposal is in separate parts, that each
part will be judged separately.
If your proposal is denied, you will not have the opportunity to argue or challenge the ruling. Listen to the feedback,
and fix it for next time!
At the end of the book, the group with the most points will win a prize.
o
o *In addition to notes and annotations, there will be a few other team challenges that will allow your group to
gain or lose points! You can also think strategically. Make alliances with other groups. Single out a strong
group and try to take them down. Read carefully, be creative, and most of all, survive.
o May the best group win!
