Two or more main clauses connected by the
coordinating conjuctions
Coordinating conjuctions:
and, but, still, and so, or, or else, otherwise,
immediately, yet.
Eg: He is handicapped but he has passed the
exam.
She is very beautiful and so all boys like her.
Kumar is studying well yet he has not passed
the exam.
Compound sentence

He is handicapped=>Main clause


He is handicapped but he has passed the exam.

Two main clause with coordinating conjunction ‘but’

he has passed the exam=>Main

Complex sentence
One main clause and two or more
subordinate class
Connected by the subordinating conjuctions
Subordinating conjuctions:
when, while, after, as, though, although,
eventhough, if, unless, since, because, as
soon as, so...that... Not
Eg:Though he is poor he is honest.
As he was ill he died.
After winning the case he settled at Trichy.
Complex sentence
Though he is poor=>subordinate
clause

One main clause and one subordinate clause with subordinating
conjunction ‘though’
