Protons
Protons are positively charged
subparticles.
Thy are located in the nucleus by the
force strong interaction with neutrons.
Protons are made up of even smaller
particles called quarks and Gluons.
Quarks make up about 1% of the matter in
a proton. The rest is comprised of
energy that the quarks make.
Proton
Electrons
Electrons are negatively charged particles.
They have volume and mass but both are almost
minuscule.
Electrons are made up of leptons instead of
quarks.
Electrons are located on the outer shell and
fly around the atom.
Electrons are very unstable and can be lost and
gained by atoms creating things like ions.
Neutrons
Neutrons are subatomic particles that have
a neutral charge.
They are a lot like protons. They are
located in the nucleus and are made up of
quarks and Gluons.
The reason for the neutral charge is
because the neutron has two down quarks and
one up quark instead of two up quarks and
one down quark.
Summery
Atoms are the building blocks of all matter.
Atoms are the smallest particles that have elemental
characteristics.
Atoms have sub particles called protons (+), Neutrons (no
charge), and electrons (-).
These sub particles have even smaller particles called
quarks, gluons, and leptons.
