In the late 1990s, the railway line between Exeter and Okehampton reopened on Sundays, allowing access to Dartmoor from Exeter by train and travel between Exeter and Okehampton. Passengers can connect from Okehampton to buses serving destinations across Dartmoor like Lydford Gorge, Lydford Castle, Castle Drogo, and more.

The Sunday Rover services.

The Sunday Rover services were established really in the mid 1990s, it’s a
network of buses and trains that run around Dartmoor and give access to
Dartmoor from Plymouth, Exeter and Torbay. In the late 1990s the railway line
between Exeter and Okehampton was re-opened on Sundays to allow people
to access Dartmoor from Exeter by train, and also to go to Exeter from
Okehampton. From Okehampton you can obviously link into the Meldon
Railway line that takes you up to Meldon, but you can also catch buses from
there that take you out to Lydford Gorge and to Lydford Castle and also to
places like Castle Drogo and really access the whole bus network on
Dartmoor.
