MINIMUM QUALIFICATION: Minimum 60% marks in the qualifying examinations for General
Category and mere pass for SC/ST Candidates.
SELECTION: All eligible candidates will be informed about the date and time of entrance test /
interview.

Downloaded and filled in applications should be accompanied by Registration fee of Rs.200/- (Rs.100/- for
SC/ST Candidates) by means of Demand Draft drawn not earlier than 16-12-2010 and in favour of
“DIRECTOR, NATIONAL INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY, TIRUCHIRAPPALLI-620015” payable at
State Bank of India, NIT Branch (Code 1617) Tiruchirappalli. The candidates are requested to write their
names and the programme to which they are applying on the reverse side of the draft. The application
forms, with necessary enclosures, should reach the Dean (Academic), National Institute of Technology,
Tiruchirappalli – 620 015 by 03-01-2011.
Separate application should be submitted for each Department with a single registration fee of Rs.200/- if a
candidate wishes to apply to more than one Department. Hostel facility will be provided only based on
availability.

ADMISSION TO M.S. (By Research) 2010-2011 (Winter Session)
Applications are invited for the following Research Programmes for the academic year 2010-2011.(Winter
Session)
Candidates for admission to M.S. Degree Programme shall be required to have passed the B.E./B.Tech. degree and a
valid GATE SCORE in the appropriate subject. Candidates must include attested copies of the mark lists and bonafide
certificate from the Head of the Institution along with the application form. Any candidate admitted provisionally,
subject to his/her producing provisional certificate and mark lists as proof of having satisfied the eligibility criteria
shall have to discontinue the course, if he/she does not produce the provisional certificate and mark lists for the degree
programme on or before 1st Febuary,2011. Such candidates will not be eligible for any refund of fees paid by him/her.
The faculty members of NITT and those who are working on sponsored research projects in NITT will be
permitted to register for Ph.D. / M.S. programme, as the case may be subject to the selection by the Ph.D.
selection committee.
FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE
Half Time Research Assistantship (HTRA) are available to those who are admitted to M.S. (by research)
programmes in different departments subject to the maximum number available as stipulated by Ministry of Human
Resources Development.
The award and renewal of this assistantship / scholarship is as per the guidelines issued by MHRD from time to time.
Those who are receiving the assistantship are required to assist the department in academic work to a minimum of 8
hours per week. As per rules in force, those who are interested in getting the assistantship / scholarship, has to give an
undertaking on stamped paper to the effect that they will not discontinue the course before completion. Those who
discontinue the M.S. (by research) course are required to refund the entire scholarship amount drawn by them. The
assistantship / scholarship will not be available to sponsored candidates or any student getting any other financial
support from any agency including state and central governments.
Reservation: Government of India reservation policy will be followed for OBC / SC / ST and
Physically Handicapped Candidates.

The filled up application form should be accompanied by registration fee of Rs.200/- (Rs.100/- for SC/ST/
Persons with Disabilities) by means of Demand Draft drawn not earlier than 16th December,2010 and in
favour of “DIRECTOR, NATIONAL INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY, TIRUCHIRAPPALLI- 620
