Trafficability: Switch Analysis and Evaluation - Bandung Centrum

This document analyzes trafficability in a 5ESS telephone switch. It calculates trafficability as 100% minus the percentage of call loss, where call loss includes no dial timeouts, partial dial timeouts, and unallocated numbers. The example shows trafficability ranging from 95.52% to 98.45% for different time periods. Factors that affect trafficability are no dial timeouts, partial dial timeouts, and unallocated numbers, which depend on subscriber actions and exchange timers. Suggestions to improve trafficability include checking exchange timers and increasing the predialing and interdigit timers.

TRAFFICABILITY = 100 % – GOS SENTRAL

GOS SENTRAL =
[Loss Originating+Loss Incoming+Loss Sentral]
[Call Carried – Network Management Block]
Loss [Originating+Incoming+Sentral]:

Loss Origin + Loss Inc. =

No Dial Time Out + Incomplete Dial Time Out +
Teknis + Dimensi perangkat sentral + Teknis +
UnAllocated Number .

Loss Sentral =
Teknis + Dimensi perangkat sentral + Loss Sirkit
(dimensi sirkit ) + Unallocated Number
Trafficability in 5ESS switch
 Using TRAFFLOW report as a source
 Loss is calculated as:
 PSIG – permanent signal (Time-out occurs
before the receipt of a digit)
 PDTO – partial dial time out (Time-out occurs
before enough digits are dialed)
 INVLCD –enough digits are received but not
interpretable
 (Call carried – NM block) is counted as
(Trafflow.Seize – Trafflow.Admin)
 Trafficability = 100% - (Loss/(Call Carried-
NM block))

 PSIG,PDTO, INVLCD depends on Subscriber
Action
 From the exchange side PSIG,PDTO are
controlled by Exchange Timer: Predigit,
Interdigit
 BDSC  PREDIGIT = 18 sec
 INTERDIGIT = 8 sec
Conclusion
 Factors that affect trafficability :
 No Dial Timeout (PSIG)
 Partial Dial Timeout (PDTO)
 Unallocated Number (INVLCD)
 Those above depends on Subscriber Action
 PSIG,PDTO are controlled by Exchange
Timer: Predigit, Interdigit
Suggestion
• Plant breakpoint to check the shorter timer of
Permanent Signal
• Increase Predigit and Interdigit Timer
