Larry D. George joined the School of Divinity faculty in 2009. He teaches New
Testament Greek, Introduction to New Testament I, Introduction to New Testament II,
Biblical Hermeneutics, 1-2 Peter and Jude, Revelation, and the Gospel of John. The
author of Reading the Tapestry: A Literary-Rhetorical Analysis of the Johannine
Resurrection Narrative (John 20-21), Dr. George has also written numerous articles
relating to biblical studies and languages, ancient near eastern history, the African-
American religious experience, and feminist theology.

Prior to joining the faculty of the School of Divinity, Dr. George served as The Pathways
Associate Professor of African American Biblical Faith and History at Bluffton
University, Bluffton, Ohio. He is the former Academic Dean of Payne Theological
Seminary, Wilberforce, Ohio. Dr. George taught adjunctively for Capital University,
Dayton Ohio, United Theological Seminary, Dayton, Ohio, and Payne Theological
Seminary, Wilberforce, Ohio. Additionally, he served on the faculty of the American
Baptist College in Nashville, Tennessee.

Dr. George hails from California. He is married to Andrita Jennette George. Dr.
George’s hobbies include chess, stamp collecting, swimming, technology, and science.
