Sydney
Description: Australias capital city is iconic for a reason its just beautiful. Start or finish your day on the harbour, one of the worlds most famous; the botanic gardens are good for a meander or to sit and ponder, while adrenaline junkies should enjoy a climb on the Sydney Harbour Bridge. Surrounding the harbour are several popular bars and restaurants, as well another Sydney icon, the Sydney Opera House, just as beautiful inside as it is outside. For a better perspective, hop on the ferry to Manly which has the same views as the tourist ferries, but is far cheaper. From the harbour there are several blocks of shopping, as well as most of the citys museums. Go back in time in the Australian Museum in Hyde Park, and then come back to the future at the Museum of Contemporary Art. And you cant miss perhaps the best spot of all, Bondi Beach, where the views are so incredible you just cant believe youre in Australias largest urban area.

Athens was born under his reign when the gods of Olympus decided that the city should be named after the deity that would give the most useful gift to the mortals. The deity would become the patron deity of the city. Poseidon (God of the sea) and Athena (Goddess of wisdom) contended for the lordship of the city.

The lordship of the city was won by Athena by offering an olive tree which is the symbol of peace and prosperity while Poseidon struck a rock and a horse sprang forth symbolising the strength.

London was founded as a communication center by the Romans shortly after they invaded Britain in 43 AD. Londinium, as it was called then, was a little village on the Thames., on the route to the provincial capital in eastern England. The Romans built a bridge across Thames on that route, the first bridge on the Thames near the little village. London had narrow, congested streets lined with tiny shops and houses built of wood and plaster back then. Even the London Bridge, which was considerably more than just a river crossing, had this tendency of narrow, crowded spaces. Therefore, a new stone bridge was built in 1176 to replace the old one. The city of London grew, and so did its population; by 1600 there were 200.000 souls, by the end of the 17th century shot up to 575.000, surpassing Paris as the largest city in Europe. Thus, London became the biggest city in Europe. It also became a cultural center , the center of the English cultural Renaissance, with major figures as Christopher Marlowe, Ben Jonson, William Shakespeare. London was Britain's economic powerhouse and the center of a burgeoning empire

New York
New York City, the capital of the world, deftly and uniquely captured in stunningly candid pictures and fetchingly personal prose, over the past half-century. New York City is an object of awe, desire, and disparagement, an image both alluring and, often, frightening. A magnet to tourism, it is also home to eight million people of every race, color, and creed. For over fifty years, Henrik Krogius has roamed its avenues and streets, photographing and describing the many facets of its vibrant and varied life. His focus is not on famous buildings though he depicts many but on the people who live and work here. With the eyes of one of the city s many celebrants, he describes a city that is traversed by visitor and resident alike, yet not consciously observed by most. He gives us the New York we see in passing, but rarely pause to reflect upon the familiar made special. In these pages one sees New York today, but also, thanks to his constant camera, how it looked and evolved over the past five decades.

Famous sites and landmarks include the Louvre, Arc de Triomphe, Place de la Bastille, and the Luxembourg Gardens. Many of the almost twelve million Parisians are recent immigrants from around the globe, and make the city one of the most diverse cultural environments in the world.

Tokyo

Tokyo, is located in the Kanto region on the island of Honshu in Japan. It is counted as one of the 47 prefectures of Japan and commonly referred to as the capital of Japan with the government of Japan and the Emperor of Japan residing in Chiyoda Ward. Tokyo is a place where the urgent rhythms of consumer culture collide with the quieter moments that linger from older traditions. It's hectic madness leavened by the Zennest of calms. With a population of over 12 million, or about 10 percent of Japan's population, it is by far the country's most populous and most densely populated prefecture. Tokyo remains a glittering example of the 'miracle' of post-WWII Japan. Tokyo suburb hasn't been completely trounced: in the shadows of skyscrapers, streets are still lined with tiny specialist shops and bustling restaurants open late into the night; and you can still sense a bygone era in an ancient wooden house, a Japanese inn, an old lady in a kimono sweeping the pavement outside her home with a straw broom. Being the nation's center of politics, business, finance, education, mass media, and pop culture, Tokyo has the country's highest concentration of corporate headquarters, financial institutions, universities and colleges, museums, theaters, and shopping and entertainment establishments.
