2. Define Engineering Mechanics. 3. Define Principle of Transmissibility of forces. 4. List out the different system of forces. 5. Define Lamis theorem. 6. Write down the Parallelogram law of forces. 7. What are all the conditions of Equilibrium? 8. Define Equilibrium and Equilibrant? 9. State that Principle of Equilibrium. 10. Differentiate between Freebody and Freebody diagram.
PART B (3x10=30) Answer any three
11. Five forces acting on a particle is shown in fig. 1. Locate the resultant forces.

12. Particle O is acted on by the following forces: i. ii. iii. iv. 20N inclined 30 to north of east, 25N towards north, 30N towards north west, 35N inclined 45 to south of west. Find the result.
13. Two identical rollers, each of weight 50N, are supported by an inclined plane and a vertical wall as shown in fig. 2. Find the reaction at the point of supports A, B and C. Assume all the surfaces to be smooth.
Fig.2. 14. Three smooth pipes each weighing 20KN and of diameter 60cm are to be placed in a rectangular channel horizontal base as shown in fig. 3. Calculate the reactions at the point of contact between the pipes and between the channel and the pipes. Take width of channel as 160 cm.

15. The tension in the supporting cable AB is 10KN (fig. 4). Write the force which the cable
exerts on the beam BC as vectors T. Determine the angles of T from with the positive x, y and z axes.
