Instructions to use the King Fahd Complex Uthmani Script for embedding Qur-anic text in Documents

This has only been tested to work for Microsoft Word and applications that support text formatting similar to MS Word. Make sure all the required fonts, from QCF_BSML all the way to QCF_P604 have been copied to your Fonts folder( Generally C:\Windows\Fonts). The fonts can be downloaded from http://www.qurancomplex.com/Downloads/Fonts/Data.zip or http://www.qurancomplex.org/Downloads/Fonts/AllPartsFonts.zip Each of these files contains fonts on that particular page of the Mushaf. For e.g., QCF_P407 contains all the words that appear on pg. 407 of the Mushaf (the Uthmani one printed at the King Fahd Complex).

Once thats done open MS Word, and do the following: o Change indentation to right-left

Decide which page of the Mushaf you want to type from, the go to: Insert>>Symbol

Click on More Symbols

In the list of fonts scroll down (or up ) to find your font. For typing verses from pg. 407, I scroll to QCF_P407

Once youve selected the desired fonts the words from that particular page will appear in small boxes in the window in front of you. DO NOT get excited and start inserting right away. Look at the box at the top right that says Subset. It would probably read Basic Latin. If youre typing left-right this is the right option, but since were using right-left, scroll down and select Arabic Presentation Forms-A.

Youre ready! Suppose you want to start typing at Verse 28, Click on the word DARABA, and click insert and continue to LAKUM and so on

Try typing the following now: ( Scroll down to find the beautiful braces. Also explore the QCF_BSML file for wonderful extras.

Thats it! May Allaah make your tasks easy for you. Queries can be addressed to farhanabbass@hotmail.com
