Common Operating Environment

1. Operating System related customizations.

Login Banner & message has been included in this COE, Notice will be displayed when the user logs in. Start button has been changed to Cairn as shown below.

Games will not be visible in programs menu. 2. Windows Desktop Search This will help users to search the files stored on their local disks & Web.. This is accessible from the task bar as shown below. Type the name to be searched in the text box.

The Windows Desktop Search can also be accessed from the Menu bar. .

How to access office 2007 User Guides Click on (Cairn > All Programs > Office 2007 User Guides), this will give all the essential guides for Office 2007 as shown below.

How to access Cairn Templates Cairn templates program group will be visible as shown below. Click on (Cairn > All Programs >Cairn Templates) Select template of choice.

Cairn templates are also available on the Quick Launch bar. Quick launch bar will be visible next to the Cairn button. Short cuts for Fax, Letter and Memo templates are listed in that order Open Microsoft word (Cairn > All Programs > Microsoft Office >Microsoft Office Word 2007)

Click on the button

From the window, select Cairn Templates tab and double click the required template to open.

To open a Cairn PowerPoint template, Open Microsoft Power point Click on (Cairn > All Programs > Microsoft Office >Microsoft Office Power Point 2007)

Click on the button

on the left hand top corner. Select New from the menu.

From the window select Cairn Templates tab and double click the required template to open.

Internet Explorer customizations The Common Operating Environment will come with Cairn branding on the Internet Explorer with a home page that defaults to http://tejas.cairnindia.com

Default Proxy settings (user can modify this setting)

Default Software bundled with OS, this software will be installed automatically. Adobe reader 7.0 WinZip 8.1 Same time client 6.5 ( all the configurations are automated) Antivirus (McAfee) IPass (this will be installed only on laptops). Windows Desktop search Java Virtual Machine Citrix web Client PDF Creator In any file or folder if you right click in the context menu Copy to & Move to should be visible as shown below.

Cairn Corporate Colour Schemes Power point Menu bar will look like the snapshot below.

To access the Cairn Colour themes click on the Design tab and select Colors. In the Drop down list you will be able to see the Cairn colour themes on top and you can use the Cairns corporate colour specifications. Click on fonts and select Cairn from drop down list to get the corporate font.

Signature in Outlook
Default signature for each location has been already installed in Outlook in this COE version. The same can be accessed from the drop down menu according to your location as shown in the below given snapshot. To access the signature, Click on Signatures (Tools >Options> Mail format)

Click on Signatures and select the Signature of your locations in the drop down menu, add Name & Designation in the signature in MS San serif font with a font size of 12

Deleted Mails Recovery in Microsoft OUTLOOK

A feature to recover deleted mails within 7 calendar days has been enabled and this allows the user to use this recovery procedure in the event of deletion. The steps to this effort are detailed below. Go to Tools tab in Outlook and select Recover Deleted Items

This will give a window showing the deleted items with deleted Date & Time (maximum of 7 Days).

Clicking on the icon (Envelope with an arrow) will restore the deleted mails to the original location.

My Documents My Documents folder has been redirected to a network drive. Offline caching has been enabled and hence synchronization between cached memory and network drive happens during every login and logoff. These are transparent to the user. d:\Outlook\Data Folder should be used to store all .pst files Language & key board layout. The Regional Settings have been changed to UK standards.

By Default two languages has been installed in the OS (English (UK), English US) which will be visible in the language bar in the Taskbar and the user can select a favorite language. Default Key Board lay out will be US, but the UK keyboard is also provided, user can choose it manually as per convenience. Default Keyboard can be manually changed as shown below, this will be visible near the Clock in the task bar.

Go to Control Panel (Click on Cairn > Control panel)

Select & double click Regional and Language Options & select Languages tab and click on Details button.

This will give you a screen as shown below. From the drop down menu choose the language you want to use as default one. Log off from the system and login back to affect the changes.
