WELCOME BACK! As some of our patients would already know, we have recently welcomed back Belinda our wonderful Practice Manager. Belinda is back with us part time after giving birth to a beautiful baby girl, Samantha, last year.
WHATS BEEN HAPPENING
The last few months have been very exciting for the team. Invisalign is now here and all of our patients seem just as excited as we are about it! Alan our Oral Health Therapist has just started his Invisalign treatment, make sure you follow his progress on our Facebook page, well be posting his progress photos and asking him questions about his treatment, if you would like to ask Alan any questions about his Invisalign journey feel free to post on our Facebook page, or you can email us directly. Toothpaste Confusion Purchasing toothpaste is fast becoming a dilemma for consumers with so many different brands and types, all claiming to do different things hitting our shelves. We are often asked by our patients, which tooth paste is best? and which one should I use? Here well uncover what you should look for in a toothpaste, to ensure youre using the right toothpaste for you.
from your dental professional. Whitening toothpastes are also becoming extremely popular with the promise of whitening your teeth in a week. While it may appear that the toothpaste is whitening your teeth, it is actually just removing the surface staining. Its not recommended to use whitening toothpaste for extended periods of time due to the abrasive properties that remove the surface staining can also harm the enamel if used on a regular basis. The right toothpaste for you is a matter of personal preference and depends on your individual oral health status. If youre still unsure what kind of toothpaste you should be using, ask your dental professional what is best to help you achieve optimal oral health at home.
WHAT? WHEN? WHY?
What you should look for in a general toothpaste is one that contains approximately 1000 parts per million (ppm) Fluoride. Brushing your teeth with a fluoridated toothpaste is important because it strengthens the tooth enamel and helps prevent dental decay (cavities). If you are at high risk of dental decay it may be recommended you use a toothpaste with a higher fluoride concentration, your dentist or hygienist will advise if this is the case. Ideally a general toothpaste that contains fluoride as well as antimicrobial properties which help kill germs that cause gum disease, used in conjunction with correct brushing technique will help to achieve optimal oral health. Also choosing a toothpaste you like the taste of will help insure you use it regularly. When dealing with tooth sensitivity the confusion about what toothpaste to use can sometimes be as painful as the sensitivity itself! Tooth sensitivity occurs when the dentine is revealed due to thinning enamel or receding gums. Recent breakthroughs in sensitive toothpaste technology now enables the toothpaste to instantly relieve sensitivity. Different toothpastes achieve a similar result differently. Sensodyne Rapid Relief uses potassium nitrate to block receptors that transmit hot and cold signals into pain. Colgate pro-relief uses pro-argin technology that plugs and seals dentinal tubules to provide instant relief. If tooth sensitivity persists you should seek advice

Whats On This Winter school holidays entertain the kids at the Hills! June 27-30 at 11am and 1pm daily, come and see everyones favourite, adorable siblings from outer space, The Wot Wots Spottywot and Dottywot, and of course theyre special friend Skypod. Then during the second week of the school holidays (July 2-7) world famous Puppeteer David Hamilton is back, with his colourful action packed musical extravaganza at 11am and 1pm daily.
