    Modern Art Take home essay for Final Exam Discuss the evolution of modern art in Europe between

    the dates of 1900 and 1930. Discuss the change in art (painting and sculpture) drawing upon inferences from as early as Impressionism and ending with American Modernism/Abstract Expressionism. Draw upon historical events taking place in the various regions of Europe that effected these changes. Specific examples should focus on government changes, innovations in technology, and the change in idealogy from artists being classically trained to those with no training at all. (that last phrase-Think Dada) You should draw upon nationality of artists, their biographies (if relevant), and how climate of their country may or may not have influenced their work. Your discussion should include relevant historical context (what was going on in Europe at this time) Use at least one piece of art and/or artist from the following movements, citing at least 4-5 movements to back your case and essay: Post Impressionism Pointillism Cubism Dada Surrealism German Expressionism Futurism Bauhaus DeStijl

    Specifics
    Your essay should be typed, double spaced, and no more than 4 to 5

    pages. Your research/discussion should come from class notes and lectures but you can use your text and online sources to assist in research.

    This will be worth 40 Points of your final exam.

    You may use your text for examples. Make sure to quote and document any specific sources/quotes you may use.
