VALLEY SOCIAL CLUB NEWSLETTER FOR OCTOBER 2012

SCARY THOUGHTS FROM THE PRESIDENT

Hi to everyone at the club. I hope everybody is enjoying our beautiful fall. So far we have been really busy at the club. In September we went to the state wide picnic up in Waterford. Even though it was really hot that day we all had a lot of fun and the view is always breathtaking. Later in the month we went to the Big E. We haven't been to the fair in a number of years so it was great to go back. Coming up is our annual Halloween/anniversary party at the Ansonia Armory on the 24th of October. We will be joined by our sister club at Shoreline as well as our other social clubs in the area. I hope to see lots of club members at the party celebrating the clubs anniversary. Julianne M.

JOHN L. STAYING ACTIVE !

I Recently

attended the state wide picnic up in Waterford Ct. We were able to meet up with our dearest friends from OPTIONS Club of Branford. We also met up with our friends at the Bridges Social Club as well as Fellowship. The day was bright and sunny but hot and humid also. We as always enjoyed a great cookout , entertainment and a merry time. Overall we had a day that we soon will not forget. Then later in the month of September we went to the famous Big E fair. The day was rainy ,windy and a little chilly but I had a great time walking around looking at all the displays trying out all the food samples getting info on things. We met OPTIONS up at the fair and it was fun hanging out with them. Their staff was able to get tickets for us all which I think is really kind of them. Thanks OPTIONS for your kindness !

STEP INTO WELLNESS CHALLENGE BY SYVIA

After the Social Clubs walking group ended this year I tried to think of ways to extend my fitness routine. I still kept walking daily but it started to get boring. Then we had an enlightened lunch. The speaker that came in and spoke to us about the Step into Wellness Challenge. She said that this was a state wide challenge and the different clubs from the all the districts would be participating in this challenge. The group with the most steps walked between the 17th and 21st of September would win bragging rights for there district. I hope that group that we put together will help us get to the top slot for the state. To help us we all got new pedometers to keep track of our progress. I hope everyone who agreed to join us does, works hard and keeps track of there steps. Today I started day one of the challenge for me. I hope everyone cheers us on as we attempt to win and improve our health.

OOH LA LA ! BY JOHN E.
Recently Jacques started a French class for a small group of us at the club. We have been learning the basic greetings ,words and questions. So far its been really fun and I have been learning a lot. Ive even been practicing at home. Its good to learn new things whenever you can.
