    1 GEOGRAPHY AND LIFE IN ARABIA


    A DESERT LAND Arabian Peninsula is mostly desert.

    Scorching ____ hot _____ and _______lack of water _______ make life difficult. Arabias location, physical features, and climate have ____________________ in the region. A Crossroads Location They had a lot of merchants that carried the spices and silk. Then the Geographers called Arabia a crossing location. There were ideas that came from Arabians and it spread around the word. So then that mean since they lived in the desert then they would probably have traded stuff they couldnt grow in the desert. Physical Features They had sand dunes and oasis. The sand dune is hills of sand shaped but the wind. An Oasis is a wet, fertile in a desert. Then Arabias desert has a very limited amount of water. Most of settlement in Arabia has been in these milder coastal regions. So mainly in Arabia it is a desert and so then it has sand dunes and oasis. TWO WAYS OF LIFE Some people lived a ________________________, ______________ from _______ to _______. Others lived a ________________, or ___________________, life in ___________________. Nomads They were people who raised animals they would easier to survive in the heat. Then they traded food like milk and meat. The Nomads traveled in herds. Among the Nomads, camels and tents belonged to individuals. Then sometimes there were violence between other people and etc. Then the violence comes from that people wanted to have their land because it either had water or it was a grazing piece of land. Townspeople When the Nomads moved around the desert, other people settlements in oases where they could farm. There are caravans witch is- A caravan is a group of traders that travel together. So there was trade routs that most of the people would travel on witch would be easier in some cases. Desert Climate Arabia is one of the hottest, driest places in the world. It almost all the time as a blazing sun. The temperature every day is mainly 100*F. So the heat makes it harder for the plants and animals to survive. But not only its there is get little rain.

    Trade Centers (p. 56-58!) Towns became centers of trade for both nomads and towns people. They has a souk a market or bazar. Then they would trade mostly they things they would need for everyday things. Then it would be like clothes and spices, gold, leather and clothing. So they would mainly trade because back then you couldnt go around and go to the store so you had the trade center. So Arabian towns were important stations on the trade routs linking India with northeast Africa and the Mediterranean. NAME: TERRA COLSTON

    Greeting from Arabia


    I am long away from home I am in Arabia keeping my adventure going. The people chose me to be a towns person so far I am very welcome here. I live in a hut made of animal skin. It was a little hut right next to the trade center. The trade center has silk, meat and milk. Its really hot here though its up to 100 degrees everyday here. It is very hard to find water but I am lucky if theres water in the trading center. One day I went to the desert and travel to the nearest watering whole. I went with my new friend and they took to the place nobody goes to. Meaning were the nomads belong they live on the edge of the beach. Not only there traders but they tried to take the sheep from the trade center. But once all the towns people fought back they went back to the beach. As if that wasnt enough a towns person got really angry with a person who sells camels. The towns person let all the camels run amuck and one of the biggest camels got hurt and he was up for the most trade. I wanted that camel I had five pounds of silk to trade and now I am going to take it to the desert, and trade it for some water. I went to the dunes not too long ago they were pretty in my opinion. Ive traded some spices to get milk but the milk went rotten after four hours of having it. Well I will be home soon, but I am taking a boat so you never know how long I will take. From,
