Main features
MILL SYSTEMS
Low initial cost Self-supporting shell structure Standard range drive parts One support for the complete separator One feed point in low position Most of the ducting integrated Low operating costs High-efciency separation Highly effective nibs extraction minimises clogging of mill grates, thus enabling longlasting full mill capacity Low maintenance costs Wear protection selected for cost efciency and based on experience Automatic grease lubrication with enclosed rell system Practically eliminated nibs recirculation reduces maintenance work and downtime caused by clogged mill grates. Designed to enable easy access for inspection and replacement of components Highly exible and versatile. Adaptable to a wide range of grinding and drying systems such as All cement grinding ball mill systems Fully or semi air-swept raw grinding ball mills Flash driers
F.L.Smidth is the leading supplier of separators to the worlds cement industry, providing various types of high-efciency separators for a wide range of applications. Decades of know-how in high-efciency separation enables F.L.Smidth to supply the most suitable separator for almost any application. The SEPAX concept introduced with the original SEPAX separator and later adopted for separators of derived design - has proved highly successful in the cement industry.

The SEPAX top seal principle: The air ow across the rotor seal area (1) is limited by narrow gaps (2) Reduced air ow across the rotor top, tted with deector wings (3), practically eliminates passage of coarse material to the nes outlet (4) Coarse material that is inclined to pass in a ballistic curve (5) across the rotor is intercepted by the chromium carbide protected seal ring (6)

SEPAX system with cyclones for collection of nes: Lowest initial and operating costs. Recuperation of heat enhances drying of wet slag, puzzolana or other additives.
The SEPAX is designed to be easily serviceable. Worn and broken grinding media are not recycled, which helps to save maintenance work on the mill grate plates. The removal of nibs from the separator feed reduces the wear on critical separator parts. Easily accessible and serviceable wear protection is tted where appropriate and the bearing unit can easily be replaced.

Tromp curve
The tromp curve indicating the percentage of feed rejected in relation to particle size has the following characteristics: The cut size, x50, expresses the exact particle size at which the quantities of ne and coarse material are equal. The by-pass value, , expresses the proportion of separator feed that passes through the separator unprocessed and leaves it as coarse material. The sharpness factor, = d25/d75, expresses the inclination of the Tromp curve and thus the sharpness of the separation.
