With 2012 in the past, the new year will
bring challenges of controlling taxes, the
addition of a new committee member and
new businesses rolling into Voorhees.
Mayor Michael Mignogna said the
biggest challenge for the township commit-
tee is getting a hold on taxes for 2013.
While we work all year to control spend-
ing and generate revenue, we begin mold-
ing the 2013 budget in January after reor-
ganization. This year will be particularly
challenging because of the significant num-
ber of successful tax appeals filed last year,
he said.
Mignogna said to control the budget,
committee members will look into ways to
control spending and reduce staff by attri-
tion. The township has also looked into
several shared services programs with sur-
rounding towns, which would help the
township save money and generate rev-
enue.
We will continue exploring such pro-
grams with surrounding municipalities,
he said.
Mignogna said another change the town-
ship will face is the addition of a new com-
mittee member. Newcomer Andrea Andi
Ayes was elected on the committee along
side Deputy Mayor Mario DiNatale.
Ayes attended meetings since last fall

Camden County to honor 12 local sports legends
Camden County will honor 12
local sports legends for their con-
tributions to athletics at the 7th
annual Camden County Sports
Hall of Fame Dinner and induc-
tion ceremony.
This years inductees exempli-
fy the high athletic standards that
have been set here in Camden
County, said Freeholder Director
Louis Cappelli, Jr. Their focus
on teamwork and leadership
qualifies them as permanent fix-
tures in the history of our re-
gion.
The Camden County Sports
Hall of Fame was created in 2004
to remember those who have
brought honor and glory to Cam-
den County through sports. Since
the first dinner and induction cer-
emony in 2005, more than 100 of
Camden Countys finest athletes
and coaches have been honored
for their accomplishments and
dedication to their sport.
Ben Addiego is the only athlete
in Collingswood history to letter
in five sports. Moreover, he
achieved distinction in each. As a
junior he was star halfback on the
unbeaten 1948 team, the last
coached by Skeets Irvine. He
moved to quarterback as a senior
and led the Panthers to the Group
4 Title. Ben was the diving cham-
pion of South Jersey and one of
the areas top sprinters. He also
starred in basketball and base-
ball. Ben attended Villanova,
where he was a three year starter,
gaining All American Honors his
senior year. He also excelled as a
diver at Villanova. Ben played
briefly with the Philadelphia Ea-
gles, before going to Temple and
earning his dental degree.
Bill Andracki was an outstand-
ing soccer goalie from Paul VI,
who graduated in 1987. He played
on the national championship
team at Mercer County in 1988.
He was a first team All-American
at Rutgers in 1990 on a team that
finished second in the country by
losing the national championship
game in a shootout. In his 12-year
professional career, he played for
Major League Soccer, United Soc-
cer Leagues and the Major Indoor
Soccer League. He spent the final
years of his career with the
Rochester Rhinos, where he
helped the team capture three
championships as well as an
Open Cup Championship in 2001.
He was inducted into Mercer Hall
of Fame in 2008.
Carl Belz from Haddon
Heights. A three-sport all-star,
Carl is considered one of the best
athletes to graduate from Haddon
Heights High School. Carl was an
outstanding basketball player
and was inducted into the South
Jersey Basketball Hall of Fame in
1986 and the SJ Baseball Hall in
2004. He might have been best in
baseball where he was named to
the All Colonial Conference team
in all three of his varsity seasons.
He won the batting title in 1954
and led his team to the champi-
onship. Playing for Brooklawn
American Legion from 1953 to
1955 he was instrumental in their
reaching the New Jersey State
championship game all three sea-
sons and winning the state title in
1955. In 1957, he played for the
Moffa's Farm in the National
Baseball Congress tournament
hitting .411 and winning the state
championship. Carl attended
Princeton University where he
excelled in both baseball and bas-
ketball. He was named MVP in
1957 and 1959 and led his team in
several offensive categories. In
2000, when he was named to the
first team All Century High
School Team, honored Carl.
Matt Brady from Paul VI. A
member of the Courier-Post
1980s All-Decade Basketball
Team, Matt was the leader of the
1983 State Parochial A Champi-
onship team at Paul VI High
School. He completed his playing
career in 1987 at Siena as the col-
leges all-time assists leader and
was inducted into the Universi-
tys Hall-of Fame in 1993. He is
currently the headmens basket-
ball coach at James Madison Uni-
versity, a position he also held at
Marist where he was MAAC and
NY City area coach of the year in
2007 after compiling a school 25-9
record. He started his coaching
career as an assistant at Rhode Is-
land in 1987 and later became the
top assistant at St. Joes under
Phil Martellli, where he was
heavily involved with bringing in
the schools top two recruits -
Jameer Nelson and Delonte West.
Sister Joan Companick (de-
ceased) from Camden Catholic
and Holy Cross. A pioneer in the
rebirth of female sports in the
early 70s, Sister Joan served at
both Camden Catholic and Holy
Cross, she stepped up and out for
womens sports in the 1970s and
served as an official in hockey,
basketball and softball, She also
served many terms with the

and will be sworn in during the
townships reorganization meet-
ing on Wednesday, Jan. 2, he said.
We look forward to her becom-
ing part of the governing body,
Mignogna said.
A fresh face on the township
committee is not the only thing
new for 2013. Some restaurants
will open their doors in the new
year.
Recently, Voorhees Town Cen-
ter Boulevard welcomed the addi-
tion of Catelli Duo, Rodizio Grill,
Coffee Works, Its a Doggie Dog
World, The Sporting Club and
Rizzieri Salon/AVEDA School for
Beauty, Mignogna said.
Opening in 2013 will be Iron
Hill Brewery, Burger 21 and Elena
Wu Restaurant. Other businesses
expected to open in other areas of
Voorhees in 2013 include Chipotle
Mexican Restaurant, Lone Dog
Caf, Mammas Homemade and
the Cake Stand Bakery, he said.
Outside of the town center,
Route 73 will be home to Brandy-
wine Assisted Living, Power Back
Rehab Facility and Skilled Nurs-
ing as well as some medical of-
fices in and around the Virtua
complex, he said.
A new hotel will open its doors
on Voorhees Drive behind Eagle
Plaza.
Township committee, our
Economic Development Commit-
tee and our Voorhees Business
Retention and Expansion Task
Force will continue working hard
to help existing businesses thrive
and bring in new businesses,
Mignogna said.
In 2012, committee members
faced a challenge to answer the
concerns of Kirkwood Lake resi-
dents regarding the contamina-
tion of the lake from the Sherwin-
Williams superfund site.
The remediation of Kirkwood
Lake is an ongoing process per-
formed by the Environmental
Protection Agency and the De-
partment of Environmental Pro-
tection. Township Committee has
partnered with the residents sur-
rounding Kirkwood Lake to see
that Camden County, the owner of
the lake, keeps the residents in-
formed of the process and im-
proves the quality of life in and
around the lake during the
process, he said.
The first meeting was held on
Tuesday, Dec. 11, where residents

Business Development: Seeking
trainers and public speakers!
Elite leadership team now expanding a major business
all throughout the East Coast, with a concentrated focus
on NJ/NY/PA. We are looking for motivated, business-
minded people who not only want to diversify or
increase their income, but who enjoy teaching, coaching
and training other people on how to run a business.
We are a global corporation, and our expansion plans
are getting the attention of people in virtually every
background: from professionals, to business owners,
to medical specialists to folks new to the workplace.
We are involved with a multi-trillion/year deregulation
in telecommunications and now, in the deregulation of
energy! We work with numerous Fortune 100
companies on their back end. In Spring 2011, we
were featured on Prime Time Television based on what
we've done. We teach all aspects of the business.
Compensation is performance based, structured in two
components: weekly bonuses and monthly residual pay.
