Somaiya, an entrepreneur and philanthropist, established Somaiya Vidyavihar for imparting value-based education to todays youth. It is one of the largest private educational campuses in Mumbai. ABOUT KJSCE KJ Somaiya College of Engineering (KJSCE) is permanently affiliated to the University of Mumbai. It was established in 1983. Presently institute offers five undergraduate courses: Computer, Electronics, E&TC, Information Technology and Mechanical Engineering. The institute also offers post graduate courses in Mechanical, Electronics, E&TC, and Computer Engineering. THEME K. J. Somaiya College of Engineering and the ISTE Student Chapter KJSCE is organizing PRAKALPA 2013 on 05,06 April, 2013. The purpose of this competition is to provide a platform to engineering students from various colleges to exhibit their talents. Since 2006, the competition is being organized and now becoming more and more popular among the engineering students. The PRAKALPA 2013 will have three events/competitions and we invite student community to participate in large number and make the event successful. Venue: K. J. Somaiya College of Engineering, Vidyavihar, Mumbai - 400 077 I) Conference on Biomedical Engineering on 05/04/2013 Papers are invited from the Students of Engineering Colleges based on the theme for Conference Biomedical Engineering. The papers should be based on any one of the following topics. Send the paper via e-mail only for scrutiny in standard two column format. The participants are requested not to submit project and paper on same topic. In such case their entry will be disqualified. In covering letter of e-mail quote the topic in which your paper to be scrutinized. 1. Automation in Surgery 2. Biomedical Embedded Systems 3. Image/Signal Processing in Medicine 4. Bioinformatics and Data Mining 5. Bio-waste and its Disposal: Engineering Solutions 6. Challenges of Rural and Urban Medication in Indian Scenario II) Theme Based Project Competition on 06/04/2013 The Prakalpa 2013 will have separate section of theme based project competition. The theme is Engineering for Physically Challenged. The participants are requested to send separate entries for the above theme based project. Please send the synopsis of project via e-mail for scrutiny clearly stating this category of competition. III) Working Model Exhibition/competition on 06/04/2013 This competition is open to FE to BE students from engineering colleges. Send the synopsis of project in any diverse field via e-mail for scrutiny. For the evaluation of this competition there will be separate category for FE/SE/TE/and BE, each with

software and hardware based projects. Please mention in e-mail this clearly while sending synopsis. Same group with multiple entries on same topic/project/theme in all three competitions is not permitted. PRIZES Cash prizes along with participation certificate will be given. All rights reserved with the organizers. I) Conference on Biomedical Engineering Cash prize of Rs. 1000 per category for best paper and participation certificate. II) Theme Based Project Competition Cash prizes will be: 1st prize Rs. 3000 /-, 2nd prize Rs.2000/- and 3rd prize Rs. 1000 III) Project exhibition/competition Cash prizes along with participation certificate will be given. Prize distribution ceremony on both days will be at 5.30 p.m.
