Grizzly Bear Lodge
Grizzly Bear Lodge
Grizzly Bear Lodge
Rudy and Diane Conrad own a small lodge outside of Yellowstone Park called the Grizzly bear lodge. The lodge is small but holds an elegant look and guests always come there during the open season. It has 15 rooms that can hold 40 couples or families. The lodge is opened four months out of the year and reopens in April. The Conrads are considering expanding the lodge and add 20 more rooms. The Conrads have to look at what it takes to expand their business, this means looking at their income per year which is $70,000. The expansion would help growth, considering that more would attend. The feedforward control is called primary control. This process policy, procedures and rules designed to ensure the planned activities are carried out properly (Bateman, 2013). The feedforward looks at material resources within the lodge, human and finances. If Rudy and Diane are to expand, the feedforward control would ensure the lodge that the lodge is properly able to the expansion. The Grizzly bear lodge would house 20 more guests, the Conrads want to include dinner. The Conrads want to bring other businesses in to offer other activities to the guest like, hiking, snowboarding, fishing, horseback riding, the Conrads also want the lodge to be open year round and offer the guest to enjoy cross-country skiing, ride snowmobiles in the winter. The Conrads also have concerns that their customer service would be hampered with organizing plans and activities for their guest, they should consider hiring someone to implement those plans. Concurrent controls would help ongoing employees and monitor activities that are consistent with the set standards at the lodge. The concurrent control is based primarily on the
performance and regulations set forth by the Conrads. In expanding the lodge, the Conrads must have the ability to monitor the business by using a new computer system and software so they can make sure the system is working properly. The employees must be trained how to use this system effectively and correctly, this would tell the Conrads if their guests are using the new activities including dinner. If they want to expand the restaurant and rooming of the guest they would have to hire more chefs and housekeepers to maintain the new lodge. The Conrads must consider how many housekeepers to hire, so they do not overlap and reduce their overhead. The Conrads need to make sure their customers is satisfied with the new change. The Conrads should make sure their inventory is stocked and they have enough customer service agents on staff at all times to support the lodge demands. If they do this they can be assured that the old and new customer will come back every year. Feedback control is defined as; control that focus on the use of information about previous results to correct deviations from the acceptable standard (Bateman, 2013). The Conrads should use the feedback from customers like; surveys, questionnaires and offer them coupons. The Conrads should offer this to the employees and get feedback from the staff to find out how satisfied the employees are like; how well do they enjoy their work, working conditions and how many hours they are offered. The concerns that the Conrads have is their budget and the cost of renovating a new place to accommodate the new and old guest, they also want to make sure that enough staff is hired to handle a higher volume of customers. The new computer system should help manage the new budgetary concerns they may have. The Conrads can pay more attention to feedforward, concurrent and feedback controls and have a better understanding of their business needs. Every
business should develop the usefulness of a control mechanism to operate any business effectively and efficiently. The effectiveness of a controlled mechanism at GC services (call center) is an internal control such as; administrative, operational, accounting processes, these controls were designed to achieve the maximum outcome for the organizational unbiased and the compliance with a mangers decision. Good quality assurance agents was monitored and controlled by the supervisors at GC. HR had a policy for employees attendance. This control would be that employees follow the attendance policies are enforced by the companys policy and procedures. Yes GC aligned with the companys mission because HR identified, established and implemented effective controls, they used this process to make sure the organization was in compliance with required requirements set by the government like; correct reporting in a timely fashion while eliminating fraud with unauthorized access to any customers file that had a social security number and this would delete any form of identity theft.
