1 Introduction
CENTREX stands for CENTRal office EXchange service. GeoCENTREX is the product name for the CENTREX services of EWSD. The GeoCENTREX system provides a virtual private branch exchange (PBX) in EWSD. Existing PBX can be integrated. This permits the range and functionality of the existing telecommunications system to be expanded. GeoCENTREX is not only limited to one location, but also enables supply to widely dispersed groups (business groups) and the working of PBX. GeoCENTREX Features and Functions are described in the following. What advantages do you have as a GeoCENTREX provider? The advantage of GeoCENTREX is the system flexibility is greater than in PBX: both the number of GeoCENTREX subscribers and the subscriber-related features can be adapted with efficiency and ease to the current requirements of your customers. The subscribers are combined to form so-called GeoCENTREX groups. In contrast to a PBX, these subscribers can be situated in different locations while still being able to benefit from common services such as the uniform private directory numbering plan, switching functions or administrative functions. Features installed for public subscribers or PBX lines can also be used with GeoCENTREX. Group features available to all subscribers in a local GeoCENTREX group have only to be installed once per local group. Other advantages of GeoCENTREX for the network node provider are increased revenues from the expanded range of services, greater exploitation of existing switching equipment and acquisition of new customer groups. What advantages does the customer have as a GeoCENTREX user? GeoCENTREX offers your customers many advantages since the GeoCENTREX system derives its wide range of communication services direct from the network node. The GeoCENTREX concept allows the customer to combine subscribers into a group according to the customers own interests and/or the interests of the group members without being restricted by the location of those subscribers. The customer can assign specific group features and subscriber-individual features to the group members. It is also possible to restrict individual service usage.

Cost effectiveness The main advantage of GeoCENTREX is its cost effectiveness. With GeoCENTREX, your customer does not have to purchase expensive switching equipment and have it serviced. The features are provided in the public network node. Thus no large financial investments are necessary for the customer. GeoCENTREX eliminates most of the costs of a privately operated PBX system. As a pure software solution in the network node, it takes up no space, needs no power supply, no related backup systems and, best of all, no special operating environment. With GeoCENTREX, your customers can invest in expanding their businesses instead of spending their money on the acquisition and maintenance of a traditional telecommunication system. High reliability GeoCENTREX provides your customers with the highest level of reliability because it is supplied directly from the EWSD network node. End network nodes are fully redundant and equipped with backup systems should a power failure occur. The reliability of GeoCENTREX is particularly important for those companies whose telecommunications systems are the main link to their customers. No risk of obsolescence GeoCENTREX gives your company the best of todays technology, together with the option of the new services of the future. As soon as new features are developed, they are available to your customers without the necessity of buying new equipment. GeoCENTREX protects your customers telecommunications systems from technological obsolescence.

Overview GeoCENTREX
Service by network provider operator EWSD, the digital switching system on which GeoCENTREX is based, is supervised 24 hours a day by optimally trained technicians. Your customers are able to save considerably on the costs of maintaining their communications systems, and can concentrate better on their businesses. Flexibility and adaptation to customer requirements GeoCENTREX features can be individually customized for every subscriber in a company. Your customer pays only for the lines and features he or she requires. Since requirements are different for every subscriber, features can be added or changed with simple service jobs. If employees often have to move around from one company location to another, they will very quickly be convinced of the advantages of the flexible GeoCENTREX system. Comprehensive range of services GeoCENTREX offers a broad range of services (over 250) which help your customers staff to work more efficiently and reduce communications costs. Almost unlimited add-on possibilities When a Centrex group expands, GeoCENTREX can easily be adapted to new requirements. The configuration capacity is restricted only by the size of the network node. Many companies are subject to seasonal fluctuation and have to increase or decrease their line capacity. GeoCENTREX is an excellent alternative for customers who cannot exactly plan their growth in turnover and particularly do not want to be restricted by hardware capacity. Cost-effective options for companies with more than one location Where a company occupies several buildings in different locations, it can be economically interconnected and administered with GeoCENTREX, particularly if all locations are served by EWSD switching systems. Whether in branch offices or head offices, staff can access the same features everywhere. With the help of the common private directory numbering plan staff in branch offices also feel fully integrated. All locations can easily communicate with each other without having to rent expensive dedicated lines. Who are your customers? Customer who work in conjunction with each other can be combined in a GeoCENTREX group. Not only large groups of employees such as in public authorities, universities, hospitals, industry, service providers and hotels benefit from GeoCENTREX, but also specialist groups such as doctors who are spread over a wide area and have to consult one another on a regular basis, architects and any small groups of people who need to maintain close and problem-free contact. Each GeoCENTREX group can be individually equipped with all the GeoCENTREX features and functions required by your customers.

5 GeoCENTREX Attendant
GeoCENTREX attendant features facilitate the definition of attendants with operator functions in a GeoCENTREX group. The task of the GeoCENTREX attendant is to assist the subscriber during the call setup and/or provide the subscriber with a range of features for call setup and during the call. These tasks comprise the following: Accept incoming calls from the public switched telephone network to the GeoCENTREX group and transfer them to a subscriber of the GeoCENTREX group. Accept calls from a subscriber of the GeoCENTREX group and assist the subscriber to make calls to the public switched telephone network. Further process unsuccessful call attempts (e.g., call attempts to inactive lines). Accept calls from a subscriber of the GeoCENTREX group which have been forwarded to the attendant station. Receive on a GeoCENTREX attendant station (multifunctional attendant console) call specications from subscribers so that the communication costs of the GeoCENTREX group can be correctly assigned and administered. Receive call charging information (MDR). Receive on a GeoCENTREX attendant station (multifunctional attendant console) trafc data of the GeoCENTREX group for formatting, display and printing on the multifunctional attendant console. Provide telephone information services (corresponding to the local database on the multifunctional attendant console) Administer specic data of the local GeoCENTREX group (Multifunctional attendant console). The GeoCENTREX attendant services are performed in the GeoCENTREX-specific switching and management software units of the CP and GP in EWSD. They are used by the basic stations and the multifunctional attendant consoles (special multifunctional attendant console features). For more information please refer to Feature Description.

Specific GeoCENTREX measurement values can be transferred via an ISDN link to an attendant station in the GeoCENTREX group. In addition to the GeoCENTREX measurement values, measurement data on queues and PBXs can also be transferred. The attendant logged on at the attendant station must have permission for this function. After the attendant has activated the function, the data is transferred every half hour until the function is deactivated. If the attendant station is not active, the data is lost. The function can also be activated and deactivated with an MML command. Activation and deactivation apply to the complete GeoCENTREX complex. Data of every GeoCENTREX group of the complex is transferred and recorded. All GeoCENTREX measurement values are transferred to the attendant station except measurement values nos. 15-20 of the ATN measurement values and the measurement data concerning the total of all GeoCENTREX groups (SUM data).
Note:
The traffic volume units are Erlang per minute [Erlmin] (not Erlang per second [Erls]. For more detailed information see also the Information of Traffic Measurement.
