SCHOOL: DATE: TEACHER: FORM: 3rd LEVEL: Primary Beginners COURSE: Way Ahead NUMBER OF SS: 22 TIME OF LESSON: 45 minutes TYPE OF LESSON: teaching- learning TOPIC: ROOMS AND FURNITURE METHODS: conversation, game, explanation MATERIALS: pupils books, teachers book, posters, flashcards AIMS: - to recognize and describe objects in the classroom -To recognize rooms in a house -To recognize pieces of furniture -To match furniture with the correct room -To use the new words by making sentences -To participate with pleasure at the lesson LANGUAGE FUNCTIONS: - describing room, furniture - answering questions ANTICIPATED PROBLEMS: If Ss do not understand the oral commands or the tasks, they will be translated into Romanian STAGES: ACTIVITY 1: WARM-UP Good morning teachers! Good morning children! Sit down. Who is on duty today? I am on duty today. Who is absent today? .. is/ are absent today. a) Checking the homework What homework do you have for today? We have to translate 5 sentences. Lets translate some sentences into Romanian:

1) Noi avem o clas frumoas. 2) Eu am un cine mare. 3) Ea are o carte. 4) Ei au o biciclet albastr. b) Linking the old lesson with the new lesson Where are we now? In the classroom What is this? This is a blackboard Do you have a blackboard at home? No Do you have a teachers desk at home? No How many rooms do you have at home? Interaction: T-Ss, S-T ACTIVITY 2: LEAD- IN T writes the title of the lesson on the board and Ss write it in their copy-books ROOMS AND FURNITURE T asks Ss if they know what furniture means. She gives examples of words related to furniture: desk, chair, teachers desk. Ss translate the words. T shows the class a poster where are drawn rooms in a house and some flashcards. ACTIVITY 3: PRESENTATION OF THE NEW KNOWLEDGE T names the rooms, write them on the board and Ss copy them in the notebooks T shows the flashcards and names them; Ss translate the new words and write them in their copy-books Ss listen to their teacher and repeat the new words Ss translate sentences using the new words Acest fotoliu este n camera de zi. Patul este n dormitor. Telefonul este n hol. ACTIVITY 4: FEED- BACK T asks Ss to match furniture with rooms; Ss have to stick each flashcard in the correct room from the poster; Ss will make short sentences like: This chair is in the kitchen; The blue armchair is the living room. T encourages all students and notes a point for each correct answer ACTIVITY 5: EVALUATION T grades some Ss and accounts for them. Ss are assigned to draw their room and furniture as homework.
