It is not only important to buy the right stock but it is equally important to do so at the right time.

Before you decide to invest the company, look carefully at the price history of the stock else you can end up buying the stock when it's price is at the top and selling it at it's bottom. So the next question that arises is - How do you figure that out? Well lets look at the following figures and they should give you a fair idea as to when you should invest in the stock. What has been the stock's performance? Note two key prices while looking at the stock's price history:the 52week high and the 52-week low. They tell the highest and lowest price of the security for the past one year. It's prudent not to buy the stock if its current price is around the 52-week high and not to sell it if the price is around the 52-week low. The current price of the stocks should lie between these two values. This latter price level is also called the support level because it is commonly believed to be the 'support' level below which the stock's price won't fall. But if it does, watch out, it can become worse. Current price (25-Jan-2006) is 718.60 52 week high 767.65 52 week low(Support level) 519.00

Is the stock well supported? Investors also look out for the average price of a stock.Average give a good picture of the price trend minus fluctuations.A moving average of a stock is the average price of a stock over the past few days or months.Moving average prices, one for a short period and another for a long period, set the resistance levels for a stock. The first resistance level is the average price of the stock over a short period, say for the past 50 days. The second level is the average for a longer period, say for the past 200 days. The commonplace idea is that resistance level resist the stock or the market from going up for a time being. If current price falls below the first resistance level then the stock price is more likely to climb to the level of the first resistance level in a short period but would generally settle at the second resistance level in the long run.The opposite would be true if the current price is greater than the resistance level.

If the first level is lower than the second level, it's a good time to buy.If it is higher,it's wise not to buy now. First Resistance level (50 days MA) 712.07 Second Resistance Level (200 day MA) 642.96

If the current stock price is the same as the 52 week high above then obviously you should avoid buying the share at that price unless ofcourse you have insider information!!! The stock price ideally should increase steadily and positively . It should not fluctuate to a huge extend. A good stock should out perform the industry. Generally you should attempt to hold the market's topperforming securities -- those that have done better over the past year than the majority of stocks
