Jamille looked at several universities before choosing GSoM. When I first thought about coming to the School I was a bit nervous about what it would be like, but everyone was really fantastic and helpful and the application process was quite straightforward. Now Im here its great, my lecturers are understanding and accommodating, and they really know what theyre talking about! I like that we have smaller class sizes than the big universities, its friendlier and we get a lot more time with our lecturers.

WELCOME Message from Professor David Wheeler, Pro Vice-Chancellor and Dean, Plymouth Business School, Plymouth University
The bachelor degree programmes at the Greenwich School of Management are designed to equip students with contemporary management skills and a keen awareness of the rapidly changing nature of the external business environment. The programmes lead to either a BSc (Hons), BA (Hons) or an LLB (Hons) degree from Plymouth University and so fit with our joint mission to provide the best possible education to our students, wherever that learning occurs. Such knowledge and understanding provides all of our students with the essential support required to develop a successful career in business, management or law. The current economic climate has led to organisations placing an increased emphasis on higher education, particularly at the bachelor degree level. A good quality degree is frequently seen as an essential prerequisite for employment opportunities and progress within an organisation. This is because experience has shown that generally graduates and particularly management graduates have developed innovative and creative ways of thinking and possess important analytical and decision-making skills. Like the Greenwich School of Management, Plymouth University Business School sets out to equip students with relevant knowledge and skills in the business, management and legal domains. We aim to graduate the most employable, engaged and entrepreneurial students in the UK. Thus, at Plymouth and at Greenwich we actively encourage our undergraduates to be selfreliant, committed and enterprising. The result being that both institutions are proud of the achievements of our graduates; excellent employment records, with a high proportion going on to build successful and rewarding careers in management and other professions both in the United Kingdom and abroad. I do hope that you decide to register for a degree with the Greenwich School of Management. It will give me great pleasure in welcoming you as a student to an Affiliated School of Plymouth University. And I look forward to meeting you at the graduation ceremony held in our beautiful setting on the coast in Devon, South West England.

ABOUT GSoM
Established in 1973, Greenwich School of Management continues to stand proud as one of Londons foremost independent higher education Schools for business, management and law studies. We have a fantastic relationship with our students and we were one of the first quality business Schools to recognise that whilst talent is universal, opportunity is not. By day, the School has a mix of full-time UK, EU and international students whilst our extensive part-time evening classes attract local City of London based managers as well as students who aspire to similar roles. We also offer weekend programmes for our executive students, typically high flying, high achieving fast trackers occupying top management posts. computing, travel & tourism and other related areas. All our available resources are dedicated to the provision of these programmes. The Library, for example, is equipped with the latest journals, textbooks and online research facilities in relation to each specialist programme, and the lecturing faculty has experience in the theoretical and practical implementation of their specialist domains. ABOUT LONDON
When you choose a place to study its not just the university that you choose, you also choose a city. There is no better city to study in than London, the largest city in Western Europe. Its a vibrant and exciting place to live, work, relax and learn. With nearly eight million people living here, London is a bustling city, but its also home to four World Heritage Sites and literally hundreds of famous landmarks. Its a city packed with innumerable museums, galleries, libraries, sporting facilities and over 40 theatres as well as countless restaurants, bars and clubs. For students specialising in business, management, law, information technology and travel and tourism, London is an exceptional place to study. It is the principal location for many leading multinational companies and organisations (more than 100 of Europes 500 largest companies are based here) and the capital prides itself on an almost limitless supply of information resources. The capital contains a diverse mix of cultures and with over 300 languages spoken it is probably the most cosmopolitan place on earth. The West End, Londons major centre for the arts and entertainment is a short trip on the bus, train or by boat up the River Thames, as is The City (the commercial beating heart of London). Canary Wharf (the epicentre of the global financial community) contains the headquarters of numerous global organisations, as well as a wealth of sports, leisure, shopping and entertainment facilities and is just across the River Thames from Greenwich. London is an incredible city and is constantly evolving, but 2012 will be a particularly extraordinary year in our history when we host the 2012 Olympic Games. Greenwich will play host to many events and the buzz and excitement surrounding the Games will undoubtedly live on in us all for years to come.

ABOUT GREENWICH
Set on the south bank of the River Thames just five miles (ten minutes) from central London, Greenwich is a truly fascinating and historic town where east literally meets west. Its a buzzing student town with a thriving social scene and a wealth of clubs, pubs, eating places, galleries and museums. A stones throw from the School, Greenwich Park (one of the Royal Parks) is one of the largest single green spaces in London covering 180 acres - perfect for impromptu football, an alfresco lunch or just lazing away a couple of hours between lessons! The Royal Observatory stands proud in the park together with the National Maritime Museum and the Queens House (upon which the White House in the USA is based). Greenwich is a well connected place and surprisingly easy to reach if you are commuting for your studies. If you base yourself in the town then youre never far away from everything London has to offer. Theres a multitude of transport links including the overground train network, the Docklands Light Railway (DLR), the London Underground (Tube), an extensive bus network and of course, the Thames Clipper commuter boat service. For students with an interest in culture and history, Greenwich has a long heritage going back over 1000 years. It was the birthplace of King Henry VIII and his daughters Queen Mary (Bloody Mary) and Queen Elizabeth I (The Virgin Queen). The Prime Meridian (zero degrees of longitude) passes directly through Greenwich and world time is set from Greenwich. Its a lively, artistic and cultural town and rich in maritime history.

Careers CentrE
With a strong emphasis on delivering education with a big return on your investment, employability is a crucial element of our service to you as a student (and continues long after your graduation). The GSoM Careers Centre, a dedicated walk-in advice and support clinic, is designed to help you hone your core skills whilst you study and help you find a high quality and rewarding career once youve graduated. The centre is here to support you with

We also provide links with volunteer organisations, helping you to gain valuable and transferable experience during your studies.
Building on years of success, the Careers Centre is currently undergoing a radical expansion which, once complete, will form one of the cornerstone services the School has to offer you. We are working to strengthen our already strong links within the business community by placing a deeper emphasis on guaranteed work placements and internships. You will be one of the first students to benefit from these plans.
STUDENT FINANCE
There has been a lot of information within the media about tuition fees and student finance recently, not all of it accurate or helpful. Many potential students are confused about what exactly is happening and how everything will work in the future. First and foremost, you can rest assured its not nearly as complicated as it first seems. We work hard to help you get things sorted quickly and efficiently and we have good relations with the Student Loan Company (who provide student finance). Moreover, GSoM offer a dedicated Student Finance Advice Clinic which is freely available to you and is designed to assist you with your student loan application process.
2. Student Maintenance Grant. This is a grant to help you with your living costs whilst you study. The amount you receive will depend on your family circumstances and you do not need to pay this back. 3. Student Maintenance Loan. Again, this is to help you with your living costs and is means- tested which means the amount you receive depends on your family circumstances. You will need to pay this back once you have a well paid job (like your Tuition Fee Loan). Remember, were here to help and you are always welcome to come in and see one of our friendly advisors to chat everything over if you are not sure how things will work for you personally. We will try our best to help and if we cant help, well find you someone who can.
