Florida Renewable Energy Technologies

Sales Tax Program Application

INSTRUCTIONS

Applications for Florida Renewable Energy Technologies Sales Tax Program will be reviewed by the
Department of Environmental Protection in accordance with Section 212.08(7)(ccc), Florida Statutes,
taking into account the date of application and availability of funding. The Department of Environmental
Protection will not issue the sales tax refund. The actual sales tax refund must be applied for with the
Florida Department of Revenue using appropriate forms. See details below. The refund is available to a
purchaser only through a refund of previously paid Florida sales tax.

COVER SHEET

• General Information: Provide the requested information for the purchaser along with background
information on the renewable energy project.
• Summary of Sales Tax Paid: Provide a total for each category for which the applicant is seeking a
Florida sales tax refund.
• Applicant Certification: The applicant must sign to certify compliance with Section 212.08(7)(ccc),
F.S.

DETAIL SHEETS

For each category of refund the applicant is applying for:


• Complete the accompanying Detail Sheet.
• Provide an itemized list and description of all equipment, machinery and other materials for which
applicant is seeking Florida sales tax refund. When applicable, include a serial number or other
permanent identification number.
• Attach sales invoice(s) and other proof(s) of purchase showing the amount of sales tax paid, the
date of purchase, and the name and address of the sales tax dealer from whom the property was
purchased. If applicable, attach a self-accrual journal showing the amount of sales tax paid.

SUBMISSION PROCESS

1. Submit a signed copy of the enclosed application form with supporting documentation via
certified mail or hand delivery to:

NOTE: Incomplete applications will not be placed in the queue for review.

2. Completed applications will be processed by DEP, and applicants who have submitted
approved applications will be sent certifications within 60 days after receipt of the completed
application.

3. Applicants will have up to six (6) months after issuance of the certification by DEP to submit
the appropriate application for refund of sales and use tax to the Department of Revenue.
To determine the appropriate form to submit for the refund, contact the Department of
Revenue. Attach a copy of the signed DEP application cover page.
