Pokhara: Pokhara (2,640 ft), Nepals second biggest tourist

destination and probably Nepals most beautiful and mystic location, has many legends in tandem with its unparalleled bounties of Nature. Pokhara is called as the Lake District of Nepal because of its many pristine and azure lakes. The valley has three large lakes, two of them are Rupa and Begnas Tal, and the third and the largest, Phewa Tal, is the focal point of Pokhara. Its fame rests on the natural beauty of its lakeside location and its proximity to the mountains. One main attraction of Phewa Tal is the incredible snow-capped mountains that are reflected in this sheltered lake. Pokhara is the starting point for some of the most famous treks in Nepal and there are also plenty of short walks and day trips that can be made around the valley. Viewed from Pokhara, the Himalayas is indeed a mighty mountain range looming over the horizon much closer than it does in Kathmandu. Only foothills separate the town from the full height of the mountains, and the magnificent 26,400 ft peaks of the Annapurna Range utterly dominate vies to the north, the series of Annapurna, Dhaulagiri, and virgin Fish Tail mountains are the most attractive peaks, found just ahead of ones head .

Detail of Sites: Soyambhu Nath Soyambhu is also famous as Monkey temple as there were many monkeys roving around the area and amuse the visitors with their tricks. The history of the Valley, according to the legends, begins with Swoyambhu, or the "the self-existent". In times uncharted by history, Bodhisattvas Manjusri came across a beautiful lake during his travel. He saw a lotus that emitted brilliant light at the lake's center, so he cut a gorge in a southern hill and drained the waters to worship the lotus. Men settled on the bed of the lake and called it the Kathmandu Valley. From then on, the hilltop of the self-existent Lord has been a holy place. Soyambhu Nath Mandir, one of the oldest and best-preserved Newar pagodas in the valley. There is another Hindu Temple next to Soyambhu Nath which is also worship is the goddess of disease and especially in the morning and evening the local children brought to worship goddess to free from any kind of disease Kathmandu Durbar Square It is easy to be overwhelmed by the seemingly uncountable monuments in the Kathmandu Durbar Square. The house of the Living Goddess (Kumari Ghar), the ferocious Kal Bhairab, the red monkey god, and hundreds of erotic carvings are a few examples of the sights at the Square! The buildings here are the greatest achievements of the Malla dynasty, and they resulted from the great rivalry between the three palaces of Kathmandu, Patan, and Bhaktapur. The Valley was divided among the children of Yaksya Malla. Kings copied everything their neighbors built in an even grander style. A visitor who wanders around the Square will see a round temple in the pagoda architectural style, the temple of Goddess Taleju (legend has it that She played dice with King Jaya Prakash Malla), and an image of Shiva and Parbati sitting together among the many monuments. Pashupati Nath Temple Pashupati Nath is the holiest Hindu pilgrimage destination in Nepal. There are linga images of Shiva along with statues, shrines, and temples dedicated to other deities in the complex. A temple dedicated to Shiva existed at this site in AD 879. However, the present temple was built by King Bhupatindra Malla in 1697. A gold-plated roof, silver doors, and woodcarvings of the finest quality decorate the pagoda construction. Guheswari Temple, restored in AD 1653, represents the female "force". It is dedicated to Satidevi, Shiva's first wife, who gave up her life in the flames of her father's fire ritual. Bouddha Nath Stupa Bouddha Nath is among the largest Stupa in South Asia, and it has become the focal point of Tibetan Buddhism in Nepal. The white mound looms thirty-six meters overhead. The Stupa is located on the ancient trade route to Tibet, and Tibetan merchants rested and offered prayers here for many centuries. When refugees entered Nepal from Tibet in the 1950s, many of them decided to live around Bouddha Nath. They established many gumba, and the "Little Tibet" of Nepal was born. This "Little Tibet" is still the best place in the Valley to observe Tibetan lifestyle. Monks walk about in maroon robes. Tibetans walk with prayer wheels in their hands, and the

rituals of prostration are presented to the Buddha as worshippers circumambulate the Stupa on their hands and knees, bowing down to their lord. Bhaktapur Durbar Square Bhaktapur Durbar Square is a conglomeration of pagoda and shikhara-style temples grouped around a fifty-five-window palace of brick and wood. The square is one of the most charming architectural showpieces of the Valley as it highlights the ancient arts of Nepal. The golden effigies of kings perched on the top of stone monoliths, the guardian deities looking out from their sanctuaries, the woodcarvings in every place-struts, lintels, uprights, tympanums, gateways and windows-all seem to form a well-orchestrated symphony. Patan Durbar Square This whole square is a cluster of fine pagoda temples and stone statues; it is at the same time the business hub of the city. At every step one comes across a piece of art or an image of a deity, testifying to the consummate skill of Patan's anonymous artists. The ancient palace of the Malla kings and the stone baths associated with various legends and episodes of history are especially interesting to visitors. The stone temple of Lord Krishna and the Royal Bath (Tushahity) with its intricate stone and bronze carvings are two other masterpieces in the same vicinity. Nagarkot Nagarkot the second highest point on the Valley lying above 2000 m north east from the Kathmandu City is a hill station popular for stunning views of the Himalayas. Watching the sun rising above snow caped Himalayas and the very sunset in the behind the western high mountains in the evening makes it more worth while to get up to the Nagarkot hill top Unique hiking trails through Tamang villages, beautiful landscapes and good tourist facilities are additional features. The view extends all the way from Dhaulagiri (8167m) in west past Mount Everest (8848 m) to Kanchanjunga (8537m) in the east. Mountain Flight (Everest Flight): For those who are restricted by time to other considerations from going trekking, there are mountains that offer a panoramic encounter with the highest peaks on earth. The plane departs from Kathmandu and flies along side the Himalaya to give you eye level views of the snow peaks and then brings you back in one hour. Crossing close to the awesome massifs of rocks and ice, the flight presents a mind boggling sight. As the aircraft takes off, heads towards the east. You see Gosaithan (8,013m), also called Shisha Pangma, standing at the majestic height of 8013M. Immediately to the right of Gosaithan, there appears Dorje Lhakpa (6966M), a mountain that looks like the number 8 lying down and covered with snow. To the right of Dorje Lhakpa is Phurbi Chyachu, which looms over the Kathmandu valley. As the plane glides along, the mountains come closer and closer. Next on the vision is Choba-Bhamare, the smallest one of the lot at 5,933M but singularly stubborn as it has never been climbed. Then appears the mountain, which is not only prominent in sight but also in spirituality Gauri-Shankar, Lord Shiva (Shankar) and his consort Gauri are said to protect this mountain, at the proud height of 7,134M, and the summit had a history of unsuccessful attempts till 1979. Gauri- Shankar is sharp and very conspicuous during the mountain flight. As the plane moves towards the land of the rising sun, the eastern Himalaya, a succession of glorious mountains follow Melungtse, a plateau- like mountain, stretches up to 7,023M. Chugimago at 6,297m is still a virgin, waiting to be climbed at 6,956M. Number Mountain resembles a breast, the maternal source in the sky providing pure milk to the Sherpas of the Solukhumbu. Next is Karyolung, an intensely white mountain that at 6,511M, gleams with the rising sun. Cho Oyu is the sixth highest mountain in the world. Reaching a height of 8201M, it appears stunningly beautiful from the aircraft. Next on the menu is Gyachungkang, at a majestic height of 7,952m, considered an extremely difficult to climb. To the right of Gyachungkang is Pumori (7,161M). As one get closer to Everest, theres Nuptse (7,855), which means West Peak, Signifying its direction from Everest. Finally, theres Everest (8,850M) itself, known as sagarmatha by the Nepalese and Chomolungma by the Tibetans. Much has already been written about Everest, but to actually witness it face to face during a mountain flight is something else. Even while it looms there in front of the eyes, it remains an enigma, this highest spot on earth. Each guest will allow to Cockpit in the airplane to have better view of mountains and for the photographs. Moreover, if the flight is cancelled due to bad weather or if one can not see anything during the flight, the price of the ticket is refundable except the charge of transportation.
