IP Time to Live Test The IP Time to Live test veries the correct operation of the Time-To-Live (TTL) eld in the IP header when trafc is forwarded to the DUT. The TTL eld in the IP header is decremented every time an IP frame passes through a DUT. A few validation streams of IP data are transmitted to the switch with different TTL values. The output is measured to determine packets lost, valid CRC and correct decrementing of the TTL. Results include packet loss, CRC errors, proper TTL value. The VLAN Broadcast Leakage test determines broadcast frame leakage from one VLAN into the next. Results include number of leaked broadcast frames. The VLAN Meshed test determines number of dropped VLAN tagged frames using a full mesh port mapping. All ports transmit and receive trafc at a specied transmit rate such that each one of the interfaces on the DUT transmits/receives frames addressed to and from all of the other interfaces under test. Frames are tagged with the appropriate VLAN ID, transmitted to the DUT, and checked on the receive port to determine receipt of the intended packets with the correct VLAN IDs. Results include frame loss, latency, jitter. The VLAN One to Many test determines frame loss by tagging frames with unique VLAN IDs for two VLANs. Frames are tagged with the appropriate VLAN ID, transmitted to the DUT, and checked on the receive port to determine receipt of the intended packets with the correct VLAN IDs. Results include frame loss, latency, jitter.
Multiport Advanced TCL Suite The Data Integrity test transmits frames that contain a payload consisting of a predened data pattern, which you can select. The test veries that the DUT forwards the frames in the correct sequence without corrupting their payloads. Results include sequence errors, data errors for each frame size selected. The Frame Size Verify test transmits frames for each frame size within a user-specied frame size range. If frame loss is detected for a particular frame size, that frame size is reported at the end of the test. Successful frame sizes (that is, frame sizes with 0% frame loss) are not reported. Results include frame loss. The. Gap Checker test transmits frames with incrementing inter-frame gaps (IFG) and reports received frames as a percentage the number of frames received for each IFG. Results include frame loss. The Pattern Verify test transmits frames with a unique, predened set of patterns for all frame sizes and veries that the payload eld of the frames is not corrupted when they were forwarded by the DUT. The verication is performed by capturing a xed number of frames and matching the pattern of every byte with that of the bytes transmitted for those frames. Results include pattern check per frame size. The Port Loss test is similar to the throughput test, but rather than dropping the frame size to determine the throughput, port pairs are eliminated from the port map until 0% frame loss is achieved or there are no port pairs left in the port map. Results include port pairs remaining to achieve 0% frame loss. The Random Frame Size test transmits frames with random data in random frame size and reports the percent loss, total CRC errors received and a pass/fail status. The minimum and maximum range for random frame sizes may be congured. The capability of a DUT to handle a variety of frame sizes over a period of time with varied data is tested. Results include frame loss, CRC errors. The Sequence Verify test veries the packet payload for each frame transmitted with incrementing sequence numbers inserted in the packet as part of the payload. On the receive side, the packets are checked for the incrementing sequence numbers and if any out-of-sequence packets are discovered, a failure condition is notied for those packets. Results include sequence errors.

Flow Ratio Test The Flow Ratio QOS test sets up a conguration such that many ports, each with a different priority, sends trafc to one single port. The receive port may be overloaded in order to test the receipt of the highest priority frames. This test supports MAC and IP layer frames; priority bits may be specied either in the IP precedence bits or in the 802.1p header; however the test may be congured such that each iteration will increase or decrease the percent trafc rate for every priority. Results include frame loss, latency, jitter. The Many-to-One QoS test sets up a conguration such that many ports, each with a different priority, sends trafc to one single port. The receive port may be overloaded in order to test the receipt of the highest priority frames. This test supports both MAC and IP layer frames; priority bits may be specied either in the IP precedence bits or in the 802.1p header. Results include frame loss, latency. The one-to-many QoS test transmits multiple priorities to multiple receive ports from a single transmit port. The transmit port may be set up as a different interface speed than the receive ports. This test supports both MAC and IP layer frames; priority bits may be specied either in the IP precedence bits or in the 802.1p header. Results include frame loss, latency, jitter.
Many-to-One Test
One-to-Many Test
IP Tunnel Suite Tunnel Capacity Test The IP Tunnel Capacity test determines how many frames the DUT loses with various numbers of tunnels. This test uses pairs of ports with one-to-one trafc mapping: one transmit to one receive port. You specify the number of frames to transmit, the transmit rate, and the number of tunnels to test with for each trial. Each receive port then establishes a tunnel with its corresponding DUT port. Tunnel formats supported include 6to4, ISAPTAP, GRE. Results include tunnel capacity, sequence errors, CRC errors. The Tunnel Frame Loss test determines how many frames the DUT loses at various frame rates. This test uses IPv6 tunnels with pairs of ports with one-to-one trafc mapping; one port transmits to one receive port. You specify the number of frames to transmit, the initial transmit rate, and the percentage decrease in the frame rate. Each receive port then establishes a tunnel with its corresponding DUT port. The test iterates until it nds a rate at which the DUT can forward all the frames it receives. Tunnel formats supported include 6to4, ISAPTAP, GRE. Results include frame loss, CRC errors. The Tunnel Throughput test determines the maximum rate at which the DUT can receive and forward frames without any frame loss. Frames are initially sent at a user-specied rate. If the DUT fails to forward all the frames, the test re-transmits at successively lower rates until the DUT forwards all the frames. It then searches for a rate between the last two successful rates until it nds the highest rate at which the DUT forwards all the frames. Each receive port then establishes a tunnel with its corresponding DUT port. Tunnel formats supported include 6to4, ISAPTAP, GRE. Results include throughput.
Broadband Suite Back-to-Back Test The Back to Back test is designed to measure the maximum back to back frames without packet loss. A binary search with maximum offered load will be applied. The number of sent frames will be increased or reduced to nd the maximum back-to-back frame count without packet loss. Results include back-to-back frame count. The Throughput test is designed specically for the Broadband Service Provider market. This test measures maximum throughput as either line rate or data rate. In addition, packet latency and data integrity can be selected. Supports DHCP (upstream/downstream and per stream VLANs (upstream/downstream). Results include line rate, latency, jitter, CRC errors.
