While most bats are beneficial, destroying bat roosts can seriously harm bat populations and the environment. Bats are not blind and use echolocation to navigate and find food. There are many false myths about bats, including that they are rats or smoke, when in fact bats are more closely related to primates and play important ecological roles as pollinators and pest controllers. Protecting bats and their habitats is important for maintaining a healthy environment.
