    Indian Ice Cream Industry & Growth Potential
    The Indian Ice Cream Industry has been seeing a paradigm shift in recent years. With the market size of 3,000 crore from the organized & unorganized sector ice cream industry still has lot of potential for growth. The organised sector dominates by 73% (approx.. 2200 crore) of the total market share but interestingly their market penetration has been only to the metro and major cities there by creating opportunities for the sector to penetrate into the rural areas. The unorganized sector contributes to 27% (approx. 800 crore) of the total market share of the entire industry with its major share into the rural market. The Annual per capita Consumption in India is 350 ml as compared to 28.1 liter in Newzeland and 23 liter in US, there by making it an unexplored destination not only for domestic players but also for the international brands. According toThe research ice cream industry in India is among the fastest growing product category in packaged foods. The change in the consumer preference from traditional ice creams to premium brands has now created the market base for the international companies to launch their premium ice cream brands. The industry is seeing a growth of 35% on YOY basis which makes it an attractive destination for International brands.
