The treatment scheme is to produce treated water of high quality and suitable for
portable uses; it uses the state of art “filtration” for the removal of suspended particles,
organics and microbial contaminations.
The treatment scheme consists of a two stage pre-treatment for conditioning the
water to make it suitable for feeding to filter.
CHEMICAL
COAGULATION CHLORINE
DP DP
The treatment process was designed to treat the harvested rain water for portable use.
The treatment capacity of the plant is so designed, for per hour three thousands liters with an operational time of
16 hrs.
The processes (procedure) adapted are coagulation, sedimentation and followed by particle filtration. Sterilization
using by chlorine.
TREATMENT DESCRIPTION
The Rain Water from the different Locations at Gold coin Site, FESTO Bangalore, will be
collected in common sump. . After collection, the rain water will be pumped to the
sedimentation tank. The time of pumping the rain water will be subjected to the on line
coagulation with the aid of dosing pump
The coagulated water will undergo a process of sedimentation. The sedimentation
tank with a hydraulic retention time of minimum two minutes maintaining optimum level of
sedimentation. The reaction cum sedimentation tank will also provided with P.V.C piping coils
to increase the traveling time for chemical reaction and good settling.
After settling the effluents will be passed the clarified water storage tank for filtration.
The clarified rain water will be passed through (by pump) the particle filter (multi grade) to
remove suspended and coagulated particles. The water coming out of the multi grade filter will
be subjected to on line sterilization.
Liquid chlorine is used as the sterilizer to reduce the microbial load. Chlorine being an
oxidizing agent can even reduce organic carbon and odour to a fair extent .After the chlorinated
filtrate water will be stored in a storage tank and used whenever necessary. The stored water is
clear, free from microbial contamination and can be used for portable and other purposes.
STANDARD OPERATION PROCEDURE (SOP)
1) ENSURE POWER IS ON.
4) OPEN THE AIR RELASE KNOB AND ENSURE THE CHEMICAL IS DOSE.
11) AFTER BACK WASH (3 MIM.) AGAIN OPEN THE BY PASS VALVE.
15) AFTER RINSE CHECK AND CONFORME WATER IS CLEAR.THEN SET THE MPV HANDLE AT THE MODE OF SERVICE?
