Senior Leaders
Nebraskas seniors, led by All-American
and team co-captain Anthony Ingrelli, will be
expected to set the tone in terms of focus,
energy and consistency throughout the year.
Bear Danley, who competed for NU
throughout 2010 on floor, horse, vault, parallel
bars and high bar, will also be counted on as a
major senior contributor.
Matthew Forrest has battled injuries over
the past year, but is making progress in his
recovery and could compete on three events
for NU by the end of the season.
Cory Baumgarten, NUs fourth senior and
a two-year letterman for the Huskers, is not
expected to compete this season because of a
shoulder injury.
Juniors Provide Stability
A trio of juniors will add to the leadership
of this years Husker squad. David Jacobs
made a major impact in his first season at
NU in 2010, when he competed at the NCAA
Championships on horse, parallel bars and
high bar. Jacobs is expected to add two more
events to his skill set in 2011.
Michael Killeen could compete on as many as
five events for the Huskers or fill lineup spots as
needed on an event-by-event basis.
Will Eastman, who underwent season-ending
surgery a year ago, will hope to fill a competitive
role as the season progresses.
Sophomore Scorers
Nebraska returns four sophomores to the
lineup this season, headlined by all-arounder
Andreas Hofer. Last season, Hofer set a
Nebraska record with an 88.40 all-around
score against Iowa and Minnesota.
Hofer leads by example and has high
expectations for the 2011 campaign.
Wyatt Baier has the best chance to make an
impact in the Husker vault lineup this season,
and could crack the lineup in as many as four
other events.
Andreas Hofer heads into his second year at Nebraska looking to build off an outstanding freshman
season. The sophomore from Germany was named one of two co-captains for the 2011 team.

2011: Louis Klein has the potential to be an allarounder for the Huskers in the future, but will focus
on trying to earn lineup spots on still rings, parallel
bars and high bar as a freshman. Klein, who Coach
Chuck Chmelka says is loaded with talent, comes
to Nebraska hoping to make an instant impact, but a
knee injury could slow his progress. While a redshirt
season could be an option, Chmelka said Klein was
bouncing back from the injury and was still in position
to contribute this year.

Senior Kyle Shanahan led the Huskers in the all-around throughout 2010, posting NUs top scores on floor, pommel horse, parallel bars and high bar.
Huskers Claim Top 10 NCAA Finish in Chmelkas First Season as Head Coach
Nebraska ushered in a new era in 2010, as
Coach Chuck Chmelka took the reins of the
tradition-rich Husker program.
Following in the footsteps of legendary Coach
Francis Allen, who spent 40 years guiding the
Husker program, provided several challenges,
but Chmelka immediately began to add to NUs
history.
At the 2010 NCAA Championships, Anthony
Ingrelli became the first Husker to capture AllAmerica honors since 2007. Ingrelli, a junior
from Milwaukee, Wis., posted a 15.05 to finish
sixth on still rings to become NUs first AllAmerican on the event since Josh Rasile in
2004.
Ingellis first All-America award brought
Nebraskas all-time total to 173 - one of the top
All-America totals in all of collegiate gymnastics.
It also represented a first major step in restoring
the Husker program to its position among the
sports elite.
As a team, the Huskers produced a ninthplace finish at the NCAA Championships. As
they did throughout the season, all-arounders
Kyle Shanahan and Andreas Hofer led the
Huskers at the national championships.
Shanahan, a senior from Monument, Colo.,
finished fifth in the individual all-around
competition during the second session of the
team qualifier. Shanahans 86.750 marked his
second-best all-around total of the season.
Shanahan finished among the top 12 on high
bar (8th), pommel horse (11th) and parallel bars
(tied for 11th) during the competition.
Hofer, a freshman from Heidelberg, Germany,
capped an outstanding rookie season with the
Huskers by finishing third in the Session II allaround competition with an 86.900.
Hofers score matched his second-best

From the day student-athletes decide the University of Nebraska is the right place
to be, the athletic academic counseling unit provides personal and academic
support to ensure that student-athletes will get the most out of their years as
Huskers.
Featuring one of the most innovative and comprehensive academic support
systems in the country, Nebraska is dedicated to helping its student-athletes
become outstanding leaders in their chosen fields. The academic support team is
comprised of 13 full-time staff members and a tutorial staff of approximately 70
tutors addressing all subject areas.
Academic Counseling
Eight academic counselors and three assistant academic counselors are in place
to monitor daily academic progress, receive consistent course feedback, assist
with the advising/registration process and monitor continuing eligibility and
progress toward graduation. Essentially, academic counselors assist studentathletes in navigating the University of Nebraska system.
