Sherrill loves to show her guests around or offer her visitors space to
browse and take in all of her treasures. She can tender advice for your
home or make recommendations for a special gift, and loves to tell
about her love of McMinnville and the FCF region, and some of the
special events in the county.
Sherrill moved to McMinnville over ten years ago and has lovingly
rallied the businesses in downtown McMinnville together in
conjunction with the Chamber of Commerce and City Government to
make downtown McMinnville a destination for shopping, eating, and
socializing. Sadly, many downtown areas in the United States have
been forever lost. However, in some cases, like Historic Downtown
McMinnville, they have been revitalized to offer a vibrant community.

The 1930’s were the years of the Great Depression. After inauguration
in 1933, Franklin Delano Roosevelt pushed through the Economic Relief
Act, which created agencies such as the Civilian Conservation Corps (the
C.C.C.), and the Works Project Administration
(the W.P.A.). These groups were tasked
with not only putting people back
to work, but also to set aside and
develop parks. In other places,
where the landscape was scarred
from overuse and abuse, they
moved in to fix the erosion with
waterbars and to plant an often
bleak landscape with trees, shrubs,
and grasses.
Work was started on setting aside this area in the Spring of 1935, with the
official name of the project being “Fall Creek Falls National Recreation
Demonstration Area”. The project director for the National Park Service
