DETERMINING THE LEVEL OF PHYSICAL SECURITY GIVEN TO STUDENTS OF DIVINE WORD COLLEGE OF CALAPAN
CHAPTER I
A. INTRODUCTION To be able for the faculty and employees work at their best, and students to learn, a safe and secure environment is badly needed. A secure institution provides a safe learning environment for students and protected offices for the latter. Thus, physical securities provide faculty and employees of the institution with the basic facilities necessary to easily maintain a secure environment for themselves and the students in their care. Economically, it can increase the effectiveness of a school's total security approach. In the earlier days, schools were the safest places for students. every second by the school staffs and other fellow students. But it is no longer the same because of the alarming increase of school violence inside the school premises. Another disturbing fact about school violence is that the school authorities are not able to control such inclement activities inside the school. Parents all over the world are concerned with this very serious issue because their children are prone to be victims of school violence. According to psychologist Abraham Maslow's 1943 paper, A Theory of Human Motivation, every person has five levels of basic needs that must be satisfied before self-satisfaction can be reached - safety being one of the more important. With the future in the hands of today's younger generations, they should most definitely be assured the feeling of safety in order to achieve their fullest potential in this world. In connection with this, just at first glance, our academic institutions are doing their tasks of cultivating the youth and developing their intellect. But a closer look at the reality would show that our schools, particularly the colleges and universities, experience the challenges and threats present in a larger society. Moreover, security measures should be considered and these should be in relation to every other measure used by the school because no security measure stands alone. The measures adopted should be in proportion to the risk to have an assurance that a security system will behave as expected. The purpose of examining and reviewing security measures is either to anticipate changes in risk and to respond to any changes as quickly as possible. [Type the company name] | Technical Writing II 3
It is essential to be a keen observer as larger crimes are often signposted by an increase in the number of minor incidents. For example, the effectiveness of an intruder alarm depends as much upon denying intruders access to their target, and the response to an alarm, as it does on the reliability of the detection system. As the two (2) sayings go Prevention is better than cure and Better safe than sorry, are sensible ways of thinking approaches and countermeasure to stop a threat from triggering a risk event. Successful security comes from the intelligent use of foresight to anticipate danger. However, bear in mind that no security measure will be implemented perfectly all of the time and no list of security measures can ever hope to be complete and not every measure will suit every school. After all, security should be the concern of everyone. However, the respondents of the study were the seven (8) departments in DWCC namely; Liberal Arts Department, Criminology Department, Accountancy Department, Engineering and Architecture Department, Computer Studies Department, Business Administration Department, Education Department, and HTO Department respectively.
