INTRODUCTION

Alhamdulillah, the latest Halaal

listing of the Darul Uloom is presented.
Please note that there are many new
changes and some places previously
certified are no longer on the list.
We urge you to ensure that when
you purchase from a certified outlet, there
must be an up to date original certificate
with an original Certified Halaal stamp on
the certificate. There are places which
portray copies of certificates which have
not been approved. These are places
which have not been certified and we are
therefore, unaware of the ingredients and
sources of meats, etc. As Muslims, we
must be careful about what we eat or drink.
There are places which serve mechanically
slaughtered or stunned meats and
products. There are also issues of
contamination to be wary of.
Muslims must take note of the
current scandals all around the world
affecting halaal processed meat products,
some of which have been found to contain
pork. This came about as a result of the
increase in testing of products after
horsemeat was found in beef products in
Britain. It is now being shown that many
products labeled halaal actually contained
not just pork, but various types of unlisted
and non halaal meats.
So far, Alhamdulillah the meats and
products we approve as halaal, both local
and foreign, do not have any issues with
contamination.
There is a new app being
developed that will give more info on the
certified outlets and products. It is called
TnT Halaal Guide and is available on
Google Play Store for Android and will be
soon on Google App Store for I phone
users.
We are also developing our Darul
Uloom Media Center website where you
can access information on multivitamins,
snacks etc. This will be completed soon
Insha Allah.

Pricesmart Stores
Some meats sold at all four outlets are
halaal, such as the frozen beef, lamb,
and goat. Chilled meats are not halaal

quarters available sometimes. Many of
the cakes are halaal, however, some
contain alcohol. These are clearly
labelled. The chicken and chips sold at
the food stall is permissible; however,
we advise precaution with regard to
the other items as there may be cross-
