Christmas Traditions in Banat
Our country is very beautiful everywhere you go, you can see the most
beautiful landscapes in our country. Our country is devided on zones like
Banat , Oltenia , Ardeal , Moldova . In each zone there are different
traditions, accents, words, traditional clothes or food. We, the students from
school 7, live in Resita, that is included in Banat s zone.
Ezeris
We are going to present you 2 different zones , but both included in Banat. The
first one is my countryside. Its called Ezeris and its not even half of hour
distance from Resita, but it has so much sentimental value for me.That is the
place I basically grown up, with the warm soul of my grandpartens, who arent
between us now.Its november now so I decided to talk about Christmas
traditions in Ezeris.
Every year on Christmas day everybody cleans his house, put decorations on
the windows and gates, cook so you cand simply walk on the street and feel the
Christmas spirit.Every Christmas night groups of children gathers togheter to go
to every house to sing Christmas songs, and than they will be rewarded with
nuts, apples, cookies or money. After that, a big, big group of children are
walking with the pope at every little house, get in, sing and let us kiss the cross.
Every family is at his own house, with relatives, eating traditional Christmas
food like sarmale , steak, soup, cozonac ( cake ) and other food.In the
second day we must go to the church to pray to God for letting us to live the
Christmas day together.
Carasova
In Banat we can find different nationalities. For example, also near Resita, is a
very beautiful country side where my grandparents lived called Carasova. We,
the Croats, have different traditions like the Roumanians. Because Christmas is
going to be celebrated soon I will tell you some family traditions in Carasova.
In the Christmas night all the family is trying the lust dinner, the hudge bread
made by my grandma where she puts a coin and if you have the chance to find
the coin than youll be lucky all the year.
Dad prepared the lust wine, and me and my mum the traditional pancake
called cozonac. After we did this things we go to the religion service on
Christmas night where we pray that God helps us in everything. When the
services done we go at out house, we pray again and after that eat the
delicious meal .
Another important tradition on Christmas day is that the girls are dressed-up in
traditional Croat folk costumes very difficult to wear, but as beautiful as
difficult.
It doesnt matter if we are Croats or another nationality , we are very close to
Romanian people and and maybe, who knows, in one day they will understand
our beautiful language that is called difficult by them.
I like Romanian people because, no matter what we are, we have the same
democracy based upon the conviction that there are extraordinary possibilities
in ordinary people.
