Nikola Tesla:

The Man of Lightning

By David Gleaton
Senior Individual Website

Process Paper
During a visit to the Mary Brogan Museum, I learned about the Tesla Coil and
how it had aided Thomas Edison with his inventions. Nikola Teslas discoveries with the
alternating current (AC) were foundational to Edisons development of the light bulb. As
I read more about his like and multiple inventions, I decided he would become the topic
of my project.
Using todays technology I watched various YouTube videos portraying his
inventions. I used the search engine of Google to investigate the different areas of Teslas
research and discoveries. Owning a personal laptop, I had the opportunity to conduct
research on Nikola Tesla.
Over the last few years I have chosen to create an individual website, since it
allows me to use my personal creativity. This type of project removes my dependency on
other people to do their part of the task so I can complete it on a timely basis. I have
chosen to follow the website layout provided by my history teacher.
Nikola Teslas genius came from a position of intrigue. He noticed small events
that led to great discoveries. Tesla would sit for hours watching an electrical storm. His
patient observations provided him with important information regarding the conduction
and flow of electricity. The development of the Tesla Coils was a result of his consistent
and deliberate research. As a strong leader in scientific discoveries, Tesla demonstrated
the principles of leadership in areas of research and creative inventions. He was
courageous and not afraid to fail which was exemplified in his Wardenclyffe endeavors.

His financial backers did not appreciate his generous nature; therefore his development of
free energy was dismissed. Tesla set a standard and encouraged others to attain and
even surpass it. The Man of Lightning left a legacy of leadership in the realm of
inventions. Todays world has benefitted greatly from this mans lifetime of work.
