SCRIPT
MOGADISHU The Somali Police Force (SPF) with support from the
African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM) Police unit have kick
started a recruitment and re-integration exercise for the national
police force.
The exercise targets new recruits into the force as well reintegrating members who were part of the force before collapse of
the government in 1991.
The exercise kicked off on 3rd February 2015 and was launched by
senior members of the SPF including Brig. Gen. Abdirashid Adan,
Commandant of the General Kahiye Police Academy.
He noted that the exercise will go on for a period of 10 days, with an
estimated 50 recruits examined every day.
Assistant Commissioner of Police Eze Emmanuel of the AMISOM
Police Unit says the support being offered during the course of the
exercise ranges from vetting the recruits to conducting their
physical and medical examination.
We have a responsibility to support the SPF and ensure their
capacity is boosted. This exercise is very essential and we are
providing support to ensure that the best suited recruits are drafted
into the force. The strength of the SPF is essential to the security of
this country and its our mandate to build that capacity, he said.

Support for the national security institutions is one of the key

priorities for AMISOM this year, also extending to the Somali
National Army and other agencies.
