To Whom It May Concern,
I am writing this letter in support of M.Ed. candidate Allison (Ally) Schipma. I have had the
pleasure of working with Ally for over the past two years. Throughout the past two years, Ally
has been a source of support, exceptional co-chair, roommate during both ACPA and NASPA,
and friend. As I observed Ally, she consistently looks to build professional relationships with
higher education professionals.
I first met Ally during our fall of 2013 Higher Education Student Association (HESA) Events
Committee outing. Little did I know a year later I would have the pleasure of working with her
as the Event Committee co-chairs. As a co-chair, Ally brings professionalism and high-spirit to
any program we put on during the academic school year. For example, during our 2014
November Friendsgivings event, Ally spent all day preparing her apartment for 40 people. After
cooking all day she still brought vibrant energy, making sure everyone in attendance had a
fantastic time. These qualities make Ally a fantastic future professional in higher education.
In addition, during my time in the classroom with Ally, she has shown her consistent ability to
lighten up the room, bringing a different perspective, forcing others to think in a way they may
never had before. She has constantly shown her ability to comprehend leadership and student
development theory through her work with students at the Illinois Institute of Technology.
Furthermore, through our semester-long group project in our Curriculum Development course,
Allys ability to play close attention to details and work with others demonstrates her strong
leadership skills. Ally simply takes an initiative and is aware of others, making her approachable,
open-minded, and attentive.
Ally is more than proficient, dedicated, and intelligent. She has a passion for understanding
student needs and works to best serve those needs by helping them create everlasting
experiences. As a developing professional and student of higher education, Allys work is never
anything less than looking to help students thrive and achieve success by providing resources with
the opportunity to discover and embrace their community. She strives to provide quality and caring
services for students through a social justice lens. I highly recommend Ally Schipma to the field of
Higher Education and it has been an honor to work with her.
Sincerely,
Tempris Daniels
