Hope-giving Word
Text: Mark 9:23
Hope-giving Word is life-energizing. Hopelessness, on the other hand, drains a persons physical and mental strength and drowns him into deep sorrow and unfruitfulness. Apparently, unattended symptoms of pessimistic behavior gradually usher a man to a stressful life and eventually, to a destructive depression. How sad, but true, that in many cases, people lost their will to live because of hopelessness. The presence of hopelessness in our time cannot be ignored. Obviously, the world is in great need of hope-giving Word and we truly believe that the Word of God is undeniably the hope-giving Word. Since the downfall of man, human beings work hard for survival. Human race is being burdened by so many things and the uncertainties of the future intensify mans restlessness. In Matthew 11:28, it is written, Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. (KJV) Through these verses, we could realize that Jesus knows our struggles, fears and insecurities and He wants us to come to Him so we may find hope in times of uncertainties. During life-squeezing moments, we could always find hope in the Lord Jesus Christ. God does not only want us to be hopeful, but He wants us also to display the beauty of His loving-grace through our lives. Our hope in Christ Jesus will never lead us to fears and uncertainties, but will surely lead us to our ultimate oasis. Studying Mark Chapter 9:14-29 offers us high-level knowledge on how to conquer hopelessness and enjoy the blessings of hope-giving Word. In Mark 9:23, it is written, Jesus said unto him, If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth. (KJV) What a hope-giving word from the Lord for us to consider when the dark clouds of hopelessness appear and try to bother our eyes of faith. (I) The Word Of The Lord Jesus Gives Hope Mark 9:14-23 -Hope for the hopeless Dont remain shackled with the chain of hopelessness. Come to Christ and be comforted through His hope-giving Word. Keep in mind that the Lord Jesus Christ is the Hope of fallen mankind. In Jeremiah 17:7, it is written, Blessed is the man that trusteth in the LORD, and whose hope the LORD is. (KJV) (II) The Word Of The Lord Leads Us To The Path Of Faith Mark 9:24 -God-pleasing faith Faith pleases God, but doubt toward His Word makes a man powerless and unproductive. The Bible tells us that without faith it is impossible to please God. We strongly believe also that without faith in Christ, we could not win the spiritual battle. -Faith that leads us to victory The Word of God has a guiding power that leads hopeless people to the path of faith. In Mark 9:23-24, it is written, Jesus said unto him, If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth. And straightway the father of the child cried out, and said with tears, Lord, I believe; help thou mine unbelief. (KJV) These verses tells us of the power of the Word of God to stir ones heart to make a major step and to walk in the path of faith. Faith in Christ is rewarding. Faith gives delight to the Lord and leads us to victory, and that is exactly what the father and his son experienced and enjoyed during their days. God wants us to become victorious over the devil. Be a victor not a victim! Have faith in the Lord and overcome the god of this world.
(III) The Word Of The Lord Offers Us The Secret Of Success
Mark 9:28-29 -Success in spiritual warfare Spiritual warfare is rarely taught and preached in churches, but through studying the Bible, we come to realize the importance of being aware and prepared for this kind of battle. In verse 18, we see the powerlessness of the early disciples of the Lord, and verse 28 tells us that the disciples asked Jesus why they could not cast the dumb and deaf spirit. In verse 29, Jesus said unto them, This kind can come forth by nothing, but by prayer and fasting. In spiritual warfare, playing and feasting make us powerless, but through prayer and fasting, we can overcome the adversary for the glory of God. -Remarkable success in life As we live in this present chaotic world, we should not underestimate the hope-giving power of the Word of God, but live by it because it is the only way we could survive the test of time. In Psalm 1:1-3, it is written, Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night. And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper. (KJV) These substantial passages from the Scriptures remind us that avoiding the counsel, way and fellowship of the ungodly keep us away from sorrowful life. God wants us to be lover of His Word so we may progress and live fruitfully for the glory of God. Without the Word of God, no man could find His way to true success, but through the guiding principles of the Word, remarkable success is surely attainable. In Joshua 1:8, it is written, This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success. (KJV) What an assurance of success to those who truly trust the Word of God. The father of the demon-possessed son in Mark 4:14-27 could have remained in hopelessness had he not come to the Lord Jesus Christ and believed His hope-giving Word. Praise God because he came to the right person and found help which others could not afford to extend. We firmly believe that the vilest and most hopeless person under the bondage of the devil who truly repents from his sins and put his trust in the living Savior, which is the Lord Jesus Christ, will surely be saved and enjoy the blessings of the blessed hope. In John 3:16-17, it is written, For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. (KJV) Truly, the Word of God is hope-giving Word. Trust in the Lord, live by His Word, and surely, youll be blest.
