Overview
The PVMB board is a packet voice managing board. The PVMB board can manage the
narrowband service board and process the V5 and H.248 protocols.
The PVMB board can transmit the time division multiplexing (TDM) voice signals to the local
exchange (LE) through the V5 interface and encapsulate the TDM voice signals into IP packets,
and then transmit packets upstream to the SoftSwitch through the fast Ethernet (FE) port.
The PVMB board can be installed in slots 4 and 5 of the HABA, HABC, HABD, and HABL
shelves. Two PVMB boards can be installed for hot backup. The backplane electrical port
shutdown feature is supported.

"75-ohm" and "120-ohm" are discussed with respect to the terminal matching impedance of the E1 port
transmission line. Use the unbalanced cable (E1 coaxial cable) for the 75-ohm impedance, and the
balanced cable (differential symmetric pair) for the 120-ohm impedance.
When selecting the matching impedance, be sure to set the jumpers correctly and keep the data
configuration consistent.
Receiving and transmitting of the E1 signals are discussed at the PVMB side.

Overview
The CSMB board is a 16-port ADSL/ADSL2+ and POTS combo service board, with built-in
splitter.
3-48
Issue 03 (2007-10-25)
3 Introduction to Boards
The ADSL/ADSL2+ service communicate with the broadband control board through the
backplane. The broadband control board forwards the services from the CSMB board to
the IP network.
The POTS service communicates with the narrowband control board through HW bus. The
narrowband control board forwards the services upstream through V5 or MG interface.
The ADSL service and the POTS service do not affect each other either on services or on
management.
The circuit and loop line tests are supported by configuring the CSMB board with a test
relay board.
The ASL board resides in slots 635 of the HABA shelf, slots 617 of the HABC or HABD
shelf, slots 1835 of the HABF shelf, and slots 611 of the HABL shelf.

3 Introduction to Boards
The eight U ports on the DSL board can be configured to different working modes.
The DSL board can provide the power supply to customer terminals. It controls the DC
power supply of eight ports through the remote power control circuit.
The provision of power supply can be set by ports through configuration at the background.
The power supply circuit has the functions of over-current detection and automatic
protection. The automatic recovery of power supply can be implemented through the
software control.
The DSL board resides in slots 6-35 of the HABA shelf, slots 617 of the HABC or HABD
shelf, slots 1835 of the HABF shelf, and slots 610 of the HABL shelf.

Overview
The ADMF board is a 16-port ADSL2+ service board, with a built-in ISDN splitter.
The built-in ISDN splitter module of the ADMF board separates the ISDN and ADSL2+ signals
from the mixed signals.
l
After the mixed signals (ADSL2+ and ISDN signals) reach the service board, the ISDN
signals are separated and sent to the ISDN service board for processing.
The ADSL2+ signals are separated and sent to the chipset for processing.
The ADMF board resides in slots 635 of the HABA shelf, slots 617 of the HABC or HABD
shelf, slots 18-35 of the HABF shelf, and slots 611 of the HABL shelf.
The built-in ISDN splitter module of the ADMF board combines the ISDN and ADSL2+ signals.
When the service signals are sent from the service board, the ISDN signals and ADSL2+ signals
are combined by the splitter and sent to the external line.
Figure 3-48 shows the external connections of the ADMF board.

The ADMF board consists of these functional modules: protection module, relay module, splitter
module, driving module, service process module, convergence module, and convergence
module.
l
The protection module protects the service board in the case of loop line abnormality,
including power line touching and lightning.
The relay module performs line port circuit/loop line test and port backup.
The splitter module splits ISDN signals from the mixed signals.
The convergence module forwards the service data upstream to the control board or sends
the data from the control board downstream to the customer.
The CPU module performs service board startup and outband management.

J501, J502, J505, and J506 set whether to ground the shielding layer of the 75-ohm E1 port.
Table 3-60 describes the jumper settings for the EDTB board.
NOTE
Issue 03 (2007-10-25)
When the E1 port impedance is 120 ohms, J501, J502, J505 and J506 cannot be connected, that is, the
E1 port cannot be grounded.
Settings of J400 must be consistent with that of J600, J700, J800, and J900.
Settings of J600, J700, J800, and J900 must be consistent with each other.
When selecting the matching
impedance, be sure to set the jumpers correctly and keep the data configuration consistent.

3 Introduction to Boards
Overview
The ESC board is an environment and power monitoring board , providing the environment
monitoring function for the equipment room and the cabinet.
The ESC board can communicate with the host through the serial port and connect to the
intelligent power device through the serial port for environment and power monitoring.
The ESC board can:
l
Detect temperature, humidity, door status, infrared, and smoke. For humidity, infrared, and
smoke, related external sensors are required.
Control the fan automatically and detects faults according to the cabinet temperature.
The ESC board has two versions: H303ESC and H304ESC. Table 3-64 shows the differences
between the H303ESC and H304ESC boards.

Overview
The FCBB board is a fan speed controlling and monitoring board. It controls the fan speed,
detects the fan status, and supports hot swap.
The FCBB board reports the detected status to the main control board through the serial port, or
reports the alarm status to the superior host in main node form.
The fan rotational speed should be controlled in the range of 50% to 100% of the rated rotational
speed. Adjustment of fan speed can reduce noise and dust in the shelf. Thus, the fan life can be
extended.
The working voltage of the FCBB board is 48 V (38.4 V to 57.6 V).
Figure 3-60 shows the external connections of the FCBB board.

Overview
The PWMA board is a remote power supply monitoring and management board. It monitors and
manages the remote power supply at the office end in a unified manner. The PWMA board
monitors up to 28 remote power modules.
One control board can aggregate multiple PWMA boards, thus monitoring multiple remote
power modules at the same time.
The PWMA board connects to all the remote power modules in RS-485 mode through 14 RJ-45
ports on the front panel. One RJ-45 port can connect to two modules. The PWMA board collects
related information of the remote power modules and translates the information, and then reports
to the host in a unified manner through an RS-485 serial port.

3 Introduction to Boards
Overview
The SDL board is a 4-port SHDSL and 4-port E1 service board. It provides SHDSL services in
the time division multiplex (TDM) mode.
After being converted by a modem (STU-R), the SHDSL port of the SDL board can work as V.
35 (N x 64 kbit/s, 3 N 32) or E1 (2048 kbit/s) port.
The SDL board can:
l
Configure independent application mode (E1 or V.35) for each SHDSL port.
Report the status of each line port through the SHDSL module.
NOTE
The activation distance varies with the application mode of the SHDSL port.
l
In the V.35 (N x 64 kbit/s, 3 N 32) mode, the higher the port transmission rate, the shorter the
activation distance. When N = 3, the maximum activation distance is 6 km; when N = 32, the maximum
activation distance is 3 km.
You need to consider the line quality. Huawei recommends keeping the activation distance short when
you configure the terminal.
The SDL board resides in slots 635 of the HABA shelf, slots 617 of the HABC or HABD
shelf, slots 1835 of the HABF shelf, and slots 610 of the HABL shelf.

3 Introduction to Boards
There are two AMP connectors at one end of the cable (the other end is connected to the cable distribution
shelf). Accordingly, one cable can be connected with two SDL boards. Pay attention to the different colors
and labels of cables connected with AMP connectors.
The beginning letters "R" and "T" refer to "Receive" and "Transmit" of E1 signals.
The ending letters "R" and "T" refer to "ring" and "tip" of the E1 signal cable.
Letters "A" and "B" refer to the SHDSL subscriber cables A and B.

3 Introduction to Boards
Overview
The SDLB board is a 16-port SHDSL service board. It provides SHDSL access services in the
ATM mode. The SDLB board exchanges services with the broadband control board through the
broadband port.
After converted by a modem (STU-R), the SHDSL port of the SDLB board can work as an FE
port.
The SDLB board supports circuit test, loop line test and port backup.
The SDLB board resides in slots 635 of the HABA shelf, slots 617 of the HABC or HABD
shelf, slots 1835 of the HABF shelf, and slots 6-11 of the HABL shelf.
Figure 3-74 shows the external connections of the SDLB board.

Overview
The VFB board is a 16-port voice frequency interface board. It provides sixteen 2-wire or eight
4-wire voice frequency ports. The board implements the conversion between the 2-wire and 4wire signals and adjusts the gain under the control of software. However, it does not provide
feeding, ringing and on-hook detection functions.
Figure 3-83 shows the external connections of the VFB board.
