Methodology
Research Design
This chapter provides information on the research method of
this study. Wiley and Sons(2014) Defined descriptive research as
a term used to describe many types of survey research that are
undertaken by marketing researchers to understand customer
perceptions, judgments, and intentions. Given(2007) This kind of
research strives to paint a complete and accurate picture of the
world b y focusing on the factual details that best describe a
current or past event. The research surve y method b y Fowler
(2013) has been chosen to determine the perception of local and
foreign visitors on the service given by the pedicab/tricycle drivers
as tour guides in Intramuros. The researchers want to find out the
opinion of the respondents the local and foreign tourists and to
know what applicable policy may be proposed. This design was
chosen to meet the objectives of the study namel y to transform
and upgrade the service and overall appearance of Pedicab and
Tricycle drivers that will turn Intramuros into a more competitive
historical destination and help the local government to implement
37
several policies and regulations that will help attain the foregoing
objectives.
Population and Sampling
The specific sampling method will be using in the stud y is
the purposive sampling in which it is based upon a variety of
criteria which may include specialist knowledge of the research
issue, or capacity and willingness to participate in the research
and convenient sampling where subjects are selected because of
their convenient accessibility and proximity to the researcher .

other one is for the pedicab and tricycle drivers. The Part I is for
the demographic profile of the respondents. It includes the name
(optional), age, gender etc. The Part II includes questions that are
based on the variables given in sub problem 1. The respondents
will be rating the questions wherein 5 is the highest and 1 is the
lowest. Next method is the interview method, also called as a
conversation with a purpose. Large amount of relevant information
about the experiences of others may be collected by directl y
questioning or talking to respondents. This method will be applied
