Class in Fellowship Hall
Cancelled for this week
This week is our big Mission
Sunday event and between
services we will have lots of
activity going on in Fellowship Hall.
In support of our Missions work we
will not have the Sunday
Discipleship class so you can
participate in all the fun things
happening.
We will resume our classes on
Sunday December 13th.
No preparation needed. Come as
you can and join for some lively
discussion and fellowship.

Pastors Corner
I'm sure we are all in prayer for the situation in San Bernardino, CA where two killers
so brutally shot and killed 14 and wounded another 17 persons in a building which
helps those with disabilities. Though it happened to adults and not children, it does
call to mind the terrible shootings in Connecticut a few years ago which also
happened just before Christmas. We must keep all of these families in our prayers
and find ways to support police, EMT's, and other first responders. We must also
pray for wisdom and courage for our lawmakers as they seek to grapple with what to
do after these situations. May we, and they, find comfort in God's presence at this
time. Our United Methodist Service of Committal for the deceased begins with this question: "In the
midst of life, we are in death; from whom can we seek help?" The question is then answered in the
next sentence: "Our help is in the name of the Lord who made heaven and earth." Truly, only by
seeking God in Christ at this time can we find the help our world needs!
As that quote points out, we are "in the midst of life." This Sunday we celebrate the life we have in
Christ, as we proceed toward Christmas Eve with our series, Love Revealed. We welcome our
missionaries and mission representatives this Sunday, and at each service, you will have the
opportunity to hear (briefly) from people representing local, regional, national, and international
missions. During the Discipleship/Sunday School hour from 9:45-10:45 a.m., you will have a
wonderful opportunity to mingle and to discuss these different mission organizations with their
representatives in Fellowship Hall. Not everyone will be able to speak in our two worship services, but
they will be able to visit with you one on one in a relaxed atmosphere during that hour. I am so
grateful for our Mission Team for putting this special Mission Sunday together!

As I've said in previous Trumpet Call's, we have a great opportunity

this Christmas to "go big" for Jesus on his birthday this year. Since
Christmas is Jesus' birthday, please consider giving Jesus a
Christmas gift through your mission offering to support our Faith
Promise commitments. This is in line with the parable Jesus offers
us in Matthew 25: "For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was
thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and
you welcomed me, I was naked and you gave me clothing, I was
sick and you took care of me, I was in prison and you visited
me." (Matthew 25:35-36) In other words, what we do for those in
need we are actually doing for Jesus. We are seeking to raise
$10,000 for our Faith Promise and Imagine No Malaria
commitments by the end of this year. With all of our help, we can
make it! Thanks for your generosity, and I look forward to seeing
you on Mission Sunday, December 6!

Support
We wait in hope for the Lord; he is
our help and our shield. Psalm 33:20
Life is uncertain. Things can be going
smoothly according to our plans and
expectations, when suddenly we are
ambushed by a crisis: a loved one dies,
we get a serious health diagnosis, our
spouse leaves, our job is terminated, or
the occurrence of any other unexpected
challenge!
If you are experiencing a time of trial,
perhaps the Christian support of a
Stephen Minister would be Gods gift to
you! For more information about
Stephen Ministry, please contact Peggy
Strack, 570-421-3280, ext. 1023.

Great News
It's Mission Fair time!
This Sunday you are invited to meet
and greet our 15 Mission Partners at
display tables in Fellowship Hall. It's a
perfect opportunity to increase your
knowledge of the unique way each of
our Mission Partners brings new LIFE
through the love and hope of Jesus
Christ to those persons our world views
as "the least, the lost, the
broken." Hear their sacred stories and
then dare to seek God's word for how
you can better serve Him!

Special thanks to our

Faith Promise (Mission)Team for

coordinating this event, to those
Mission Partners participating in
ESUMC's 8:30 and 10:45 worship
celebrations, to Mary Schneider for
organizing a 'special' Holy Grounds
Cafe for you to enjoy, and to those
disciplining classes who are able to join
us during the 9:45 a.m. hour. See you
at the Fair!

GOD IS GOOD.ALL THE TIME and ALL THE TIME.GOD IS GOOD!

Do we really believe that? Do we believe it enough to let others know?
Do we believe it when tragedy hits our family?
Do we believe it when terrible things happen in our communities?
Do we believe it when mayhem breaks out across the globe?
Do we have hope in the midst of lifes greatest disappointments and sadness?
Learn how to offer hope to a hurting world and especially those God has
placed in your path. Learn how to reach others and invite them to hear about
the only hope for a world destined to be ruled by a soon and coming King.
Please dont let anything stop you from joining a small group in January and
starting your year with the right focus..TO LOVE JESUS CHRIST AND
SHARE HIS LOVE.
I am inviting YOU to be a part of this exciting study. See how it will change
your perspective FOREVER on loving others through Jesus Christ.
Blessings to you as you celebrate the season of the greatest gift ever given to
us, Jenni Poole
Through the UMC Market website, you can establish your favorite shopping sites,
like an online camera store I've used in the past. All your favorites will be on
there: Lowes, Best Buy, Old Navy, etc. Literally, hundreds of sites. Each of these
retailers have established a percentage of
the sale they will give
back to our church,
and by "our church,"
ESUMC. Now, if you
go on the Cameta
Camera site and purchase a $300 lens,
they will donate 2% or
$6 to our church.
There are no extra
steps involved once it
is set up. You make the purchase, and money is sent to our church within 30
days. That $6 is not a huge amount, but multiply that by the hundreds in our congregation making online purchases, and you can see how this could add up for
us. There are also many coupon offers available for users of UMC Market. It's as
close to a "no brainer" there is to help a church financially! You are encouraged to
try it out, and if you have questions, carefully read the FAQ section on the website.
