Model Management
The primtech Model Management provides the user with an overview of all projects
created with primtech. All functions concerning storing, searching for, and editing
models are performed via the Model Management.
All models created with primtech are stored in a publicly accessible area on the
network (public folder). That way, all users can access the data. To edit a file, a user
copies it from this generally accessible location to a working location of his or her own
(private folder). Only when the processing is completed will this file be copied back into
the public area.
Project management is necessary to prevent two users from working on the same file
simultaneously. These are just some of the tasks performed by the primtech Model
Management.
Model Management

User interface
In the following the user interface for model management, together with the individual
functional areas, are shown.
Model Management
Private folders
Public folders
1.1.1.1
Private folders
The Private Folders node denotes the area where the user holds his data necessary
for processing. This folder may be on the local hard disk or on a connected network
drive.
Checked out
The Checked Out folder is a sub-folder in the users private folder.
The Checked Out folder denotes the local area in which projects are edited that are
checked out in processing, have been retrieved for viewing or are newly created.
1.1.1.2
Public folder
The Public Folder denotes the area where all projects are stored for public access.
Model Management
1.1.1.3
Checked in
The Checked In folder provides a view of all models created in the company. All
models in Checked In are stored on the central server. For processing, the model
data must be checked out or, for viewing, be retrieved at least.
The Checked In folder contains sub-folders to facilitate structuring. These are
explained in greater detail in the following.
All folder
The All sub-folder provides a view of all the stations checked in at the location, apart
from Deleted stations.
Templates folder
The Templates sub-folder provides a view of all the stations checked in at the location
which have activated the Template property value.
Released folder
The Released sub-folder provides a view of all the stations checked in at the location
which have the Released status.
Deleted folder
The Deleted sub-folder provides a view of all deleted stations.
Other folders
Other folders with specific views can be created to customer requirements.
Model Management
1.1.1.4
Global DB
The Global DB folder provides a view of all globally published models. All models in
Global DB are stored on the central server and can only be edited after they have
been checked out. For viewing, the station must at least be retrieved.
Globally published models are available at all locations after a replication and can
therefore be edited by users at different locations.

Models in primtech
Project models
Complete station
The complete station is always the uppermost element in a model hierarchy and thus
the uppermost node of a station. The complete station should not contain any
geometric objects; thus no AutoCAD files should be stored here. A complete station
can also be understood as a project, with regard to contents.
Part station
The part station is either a child of a complete station or child of another part station. It
cannot be a child of a GIS station or bay.
GIS station
The GIS station is either a child of a complete station, child of a part station, or child of
another GIS station. It cannot be positioned below bays.
Bay
A bay is a logical unit and represents a switching function within the station. A bay is
either a child of a complete station, of a part station, or of a GIS station. It cannot be
the child of another bay.
Site map
A site map is always the direct child of a complete station.
The complete station can contain a maximum of one site map.
Model Management
Cadastre plan
A cadastre plan is always the direct child of a complete station.
The complete station can contain a maximum of one cadastre plan.
Earthing
All the models for the earth cable network are managed in this folder. A more detailed
description can be found in a separate chapter.
Drawing containers
The drawing container provides a facility for deriving drawings which is independent of
the model.
The drawing derivative in the drawing container can be created or edited in parallel with
the model.
A drawing container is created in the tree below the Drawing containers folder. More
than one drawing container and drawing container folder can be created.
The drawing container can hold a model reference and several drawing derivatives.
The drawing container itself cannot be referenced.
No editing permissions for the referenced model reference are necessary to create
drawing derivatives in drawing containers.
A drawing derivative is shown in the List view for model management as a sheet.

Model Management
1.2.3.1
1.2.3.2
A referenced model hierarchy results from incorporating models within AutoCAD into
a parent model as an External Reference (XRef), e.g. using the Insert field/part
station or Insert project symbol command, i.e. the geometries within AutoCAD
depend directly on one another.
Models with referenced model hierarchy are identified by an arrow pointing to top left
in the model symbol.

Individual models or entire projects can be deleted with the Delete command.
Referenced models cannot be deleted. To delete, the reference link must first be
removed.
1.4.4.1
When deleting checked out models, only those models that are defined below the
checked out model can be deleted.
Deleting folders
Sub-folders may only be deleted if they are empty. The predefined folders below the
complete station may neither be deleted nor moved.
1.4.4.2
Deleting in Checked In
The Delete command can only be applied to fully editable projects here. Deletion of
individual models is not possible.
On deletion, the project is moved to the Deleted sub-folder. Irrevocable deletion is
only possible with Administrator permissions (Delete (Admin)).
1.4.4.3
Deletion of projects from the Global DB and Archive database public folders is not
possible. The projects must first be retrieved from the database and can then be
deleted in Checked In.

1.5.1 Retrieve
Tab card:
Context menu:
Retrieve
With the Retrieve command, model data can be retrieved from the public folder for
viewing. Retrieved models can be opened as read-only.
The Retrieve command can be called from any point of the model hierarchy in the
public folder. This moves a copy of the entire project into the private folder. The model
in the public folder is not changed. Other users still have access to the model data in
the public folder.
1.5.2 Check-out
Tab card:
Context menu:
Checkout
With the Check Out command, editable model data can be checked out from the
public folder for editing.
Check-out copies the higher-level complete station into the private folder of the user
with all data. Check-out sets the status of the station to in process for the station
sections in question. The checked out project is then reserved for the user currently
editing.
Station parts can also be checked out. In this case a Check Out affects only lower-level
model data. Referenced model data at the same hierarchical level are called up as
read-only with this Check Out.
1.5.3 Uncheckout
Tab card:
Context menu:
Uncheckout
With the Uncheckout command, Check Out procedures can be undone at a later
time.
The Uncheckout command deletes the model data from the users private folder and
makes the station available again in the public folder for editing. In the public folder, the

is increased by one.
1.8.1.2
New status
New status identifies that the model has never been checked in or opened.
New status applies until the model type is checked in for the first time.
Editable status
"Editable" status means that the selected model is available to the user in the public
folder and is not currently being edited by any user.
In process status
In process status indicates that the selected model has been checked out by a user
for editing.
Models identified with the In process status can be called for viewing.
Read-only status
For viewing (read-only) status indicates that the selected model has been retrieved.
The selected model cannot be edited.
Using the Retrieve command, the project is copied into the private folder of the user.
The user can then print out or view parts of the project. He does not have write
authorization and cannot make any changes to models. Unlike checking out, the model
is not blocked for other users in the public folder. A project can even be called from the
public folder by more than one user at once.
Note: The drawing is only up to date at the time it is called up. If the model is added to
by another user in the meantime, the data called for viewing are no longer necessarily
up to date.
Model Management
20
To check status
If a model is provided for approval, it is given to check (i.e. to be checked) status.
Models that are identified as to check can no longer be checked out for editing.
Models with "to check" status can be discarded or released.
Special case Reject: If a model is rejected as a result of checking, the model is given
Editable status. This way, the reviewer places the model back in the public folder.
Released status
A model is given "released" status if a reviewer has checked and approved the model.
Released status identifies a reviewed planning stage that cannot be edited further.
The models identified as released can therefore no longer be checked out for editing.
Released stations can be called for viewing or copied as a planning basis.
Obsolete status
Obsolete status identifies an obsolete planning stage that cannot be edited further.
Models identified as Obsolete cannot be checked out or retrieved. Obsolete stations
can be copied as a planning basis.

With this functionality, primtech stations can be exchanged between different primtech
installations. The station data from the Model Management and all necessary enTis
symbols are imported or exported.
Only AIS components are considered for Import/Export (enTis part family AIS).
Replacement of stations with import/export is only possible between primtech versions
with the same version number.
1.11.1 Export
Tab card:
The export function is offered as soon as a station model has been selected in the
checked-out folder. It does not matter whether a complete station, a part station or
another child model is selected for this.
When exporting, the entire complete station is exported.
A target directory in which the exported model data will be stored must be specified for
the export. For the exported station, the two subfolders enTis and primtech are
automatically created in the selected directory. The subfolders db and files are
created within these.
Notes: Use a separate Export directory for each station. Avoid storing several stations
in the same directory.
1.11.2 Import
Tab card:
Import is offered via the Model Management as soon as any station model is selected
in the checked-out folder. It does not matter whether a complete station, a part station
or another child model is selected for this.
When importing, the entire complete station is imported and stored as a new complete
station in the Checked Out folder.
A source directory in which the station data to be imported are stored must be specified
for the import.

All model types can be partially checked out, i.e., independently of their higher-level
complete station.
Referenced project models are retrieved as read only during this Check Out (Status:
Read-only).
1.12.1 Situation I:
A part station X1 is checked out by the user. This causes all models and data of the
complete station to be copied into the private folder of the user. The part station X1 and
all bays it contains are checked out (write access). The higher-level complete station Y
and all parallel part stations X2 are called ("read only").

1.13.1.1
A check is made of the target folder as to whether an identical folder structure (main

the folders, which must be identical.
The following constraints are defined for the test for identity:
-
removed
-
1.13.2.1
If the copying procedure is being carried out manually, i.e., without the Use/create
folders with the same name option, it is possible to define for each model being copied
whether a referenced drawing container is to be copied or not.
Model Management
28
1.13.2.2
If the Do not copy referenced drawing containers option is used in combination with
Use/create folders with the same name, the setting for copying or not copying the

position numbers already defined are marked "0". If a parts list manager is created in
the project, these already deposited item number symbols will be used and filled with
the now-assigned item number.
1.13.5.1
Binary identical
Binary comparison of definitions ensures that only really identical definitions are
deleted. If two DWGs are compared, which at first appearance are identical but have,
e.g., set a different zoom factor during saving, then these DWGs will be different by a
binary comparison and will not be merged.

enTis stands for entegra Teile Informations System (entegra Parts Information
System). It is a tool for using common parts in different applications. The basis for
using standard components, especially in CAD design, is the rapid availability of such
components.
The following points are essential for this:
Standard parts and the descriptive data and documents must be entered into the
component management system in an uncomplicated way.
Designers can find and insert standard or common parts quickly and reliably.
The inserted components contain information for further evaluation of the design in
costing and parts lists.
Components contain information about the dependencies on other components.
This permits interchanging of components. Constraints imposed by the adjacent
component are automatically checked and corrected.

The table of the search function contains the columns Attribute and Value.
35
2.1.6 Preview
Shows a preview defined in each component. The file that is displayed is defined in the
configuration either specifically for a part family or for all part families. The preview can
contain a CAD drawing or files of another application.
36
37
2.2
Application
enTis components can be included in various applications such as CAD and text
processing. For each application, it is necessary to adjust the insert routine.
2.2.1 Search
The search function can be adapted to the users individual requirements. The number
of search attributes is not limited. Empty search fields are ignored. The search
attributes are logically ANDed. The search function can be limited to the selected
elements of the tree structure.
The search attributes are entered in the appropriate data field.
The search can be executed via the Search button.
If no part family has been selected in the tree structure, the search is made through all
components. If a part family has been selected in the tree structure, the search is made
in the part family and its sub-part families. The value can be at any position in the
attribute. Upper and lower case are ignored.
Example: If Part is entered, the string Part will be searched for in the specified
attribute. It is irrelevant whether there are further characters before or after this
attribute. For example, the attribute value Part would find the value Part large and
Wearing part. The search will show the user both components in the component list
as the result.
38
2.2.3 SmartViews
Normally, the data are organized hierarchically in some way, e.g. in folders, categories,
or part families, as in enTis.
Smartviews provide an attribute-oriented view of the data in the database, irrespective
of its actual organizational structure.
The data is also shown hierarchically but ordered by existing attributes and their
values.
When creating part families, parts for which several attribute definitions are identical
are grouped together. In a Smartview, all components whose attributes are identical
are grouped together.
Example:
Smartview M6 contains all M6 screws and washers and nut with the attribute M6.
These 3 components are each parts of different part families (screws, nuts, washers)
but are part of one Smartview. Smartviews are named after their attribute value in the
tree structure. The figure in parentheses after the name states the number of records
found.
39
2.2.3.1
Predefined Smartviews
Predefined means that precisely one selected attribute is available at each level of the
tree structure and all values that occur in the data of that level can be selected.
Via the SmartView folder, an attribute search is run with permanently pre-set attribute
values.
The name of the subfolder only consists of the attribute value. Which attribute has
configured for a level should be obvious from the name of the SmartView.
2.2.4 Insert
enTis components can be inserted in different target applications.
This is different depending on whether enTis is controlled from the target application
(remote control) or whether enTis is running in the foreground with its user interface.
When the insert command is executed (via menu, context menu, toolbar, or double
click), the actions are performed. These actions are defined differently depending on
the target application and the component type.
2.2.4.1
Example
40
2.2.5 Status
A component can have the following statuses:
new
Component has been newly created locally by the symbol engineer and has not
been checked in yet.
modifiable
Component is checked in on the server and not released; hence can still be
checked out and edited.
in processing
Component has been checked out locally by the symbol engineer and is being
edited.
to check
When the symbol engineer has finished editing a component, he sets it to to
check status. This is the signal to the Administrator that he must check and
release this component.
released
A released component can no longer be changed.
The first release of a component is assigned Revision Index 1.
With each later release of the component, the Revision Index is incremented by
1.
obsolete
When a released component is placed in revision, the formerly released
component is set to obsolete. When there are several obsolete versions of the
same component, the history is apparent from the Revision Index.
41
All enTis commands can be executed on the enTis components in the clipboard e.g.
check-in/-out, edit, insert.
Using the context menu, individual enTis components can be removed from the list, or
the whole list emptied.
The context menu of the dialog title bar has the option "Always on top", which can be
activated. From then on, the clipboard dialog is shown above all other dialogs.
The enTis components in the clipboard are user-dependent. This means: after
restarting enTis, the enTis components pasted by the user in previous sessions will be
available as before.
42
2.3
The command pr_replaceSymbol can replace a symbol that has been inserted into a
model with another symbol from entis.
If several identical PCL-symbols are present in a model, the user can opt to replace all
identical symbols.
PCL-symbols are made of the following component types:
PCL-Symbol
HUI-Symbol
PCL z-scaled
2.4
If a station has been created with enTis components and the enTis components have
later been updated in a new revision, the originally inserted and interim obsoleted enTis
components will continue to be present in the station.
Command: pr_UpdateEntisRevision
Select objects:
The pr_UpdateEntisRevision command checks whether there is a newer released
version of any of the enTis components inserted in the current file.
If this is the case, the obsolete version of the enTis component will be replaced by the
new, released one.
Comment: The symbol administrator can also replace obsolete components with the
latest version stored in enTis when this version is not released.
43
2.5
User rights
enTis users are members of a user group, like the users of an operating system. Each
user group has rights. Each user has rights. The rights of the group and the user are
logically ORed: If the right is activated either for the group or for the user, the user will
have this right. It is not possible to withdraw a right from a user. However, the user can
be assigned to another group. If there is no link to user management, authorization
level User is used for the current user. enTis uses the following user rights.

With this command, you can assign values directly to the symbol management call for
the search for symbols. The dialog box of the symbol management then searches with
the passed values as it starts and displays the search result straight away.
Configured calls of individual groups of the symbol management are provided via
AutoCAD toolboxes.
2.7
Symbol Detailing
Elements from the symbol library can be displayed at various levels of detail.
45
2.8
View Symbols
The View function is available via the context menu of a selected symbol in enTis. The
AutoCAD file underlying the enTis symbol can be opened using this context menu.
This is independent of the status of the symbol i.e. also works for released symbols
and if the enTis file is located locally or on a server.
The function is only to display and therefore the opened file cannot be saved.
2.9
Info points
Via the info point, components can be included in a primtech model for which no
geometry exists. Info point geometry is positioned geometrically. The info point bears
information for the parts list information.
Info points are inserted from the symbol management using component type info
point. Info points can be inserted from any group in the symbol manager in which info
points are stored.
46
All other information (features, values) is displayed but can only be edited via the parts
list manager.
47
2.10
Connection points are inserted when symbols are included in the symbol management.
Connection points are assigned to a symbol and are evaluated for positioning symbols
in a drawing and for creating connections. The following types of connection points
exist:

Insertion of symbols with height scaling is a flexible way of dealing with supporting steel
structures.
Symbols with height scaling are inserted by means of the symbol management.
AIS component type Z-scaled
Insertion of symbols with height scaling differs from standard insertion of symbols.
Insertion point: (0,0,0)
Angle of rotation <0>: Return
Enter new height < 1000 >:
On value entry, the new value is set as the height. If 2 points are specified, the distance
described is used as the height. On confirmation with Return, the initial height (scaling
factor 1) is used.
If a symbol with height scaling is inserted, the Length attribute is appended to the

Symbols with staggered insertion heights belong to the electrical device group. They
are a subset of devices which are inserted at different heights depending on the
ambient conditions. The reference point on the device (insertion point) is the bottom
edge of the insulators.
The insertion height is calculated when the symbol is inserted in a model. The height of
lower edge of insulator (HUI) and the snow depth entered in the model properties is
decisive here.

Project symbols
Project symbols are a special type of component. They are created specifically for an
individual substation and are not available in the enTis. The term one-use symbol is
also frequently used.
In parts lists, project symbols are treated like enTis symbols and therefore receive their
own parts list item number. The project symbols must therefore be assigned to an
enTis group (parts family) so that they can be listed and evaluated under the respective
group in the parts list.
A project symbol can contain the following:

Project assemblies
AutoCAD Geometry
enTis components

3.3
Project modules

a module. A module represents a construction unit (assembly group) for the specific
complete substation. Cable connections can also be included here.
A project module in itself is not itemized in the parts list since it is only a
combination/group that simplifies and structures the design work
3.4
Project details
Project details, from now on referred to in short as details, in a substation model are for
the integration of small parts e.g. bolts and nuts in the form of fixation details or
earthing details
Project details illustrate where the small parts are located within a substation and their
quantification for the parts list are then defined:
Project Models
54
3.4.2.1
Detail
A detail describes a group of small parts that are in their combination - used
repeatedly.
A detail is created in the model manager and managed individually for each project.
Only detail symbols and detail assemblies can be inserted into a detail.
Noteworthy is the detail feature Detail-Identifier. This is used, with the help of a detailbubble, to identify a detail in a substation drawing or assembly drawing. In a detail
drawing, it uniquely identifies the detail.
The user has to cater for the uniqueness of the Detail-Identifier within a project as this
will not be cross-checked by primtech.
3.4.2.2
Detail assembly
A detail assembly describes a subgroup of small parts in a detail which is can be used
repeatedly in a detail e.g. a detail assembly to illustrate a fixation composed of bolt, nut
and washer which is then inserted 4 times into a drawing containing a plate with 4
fixation holes.
3.4.2.3
Detail symbol
A detail symbol describes a small part e.g. a bolt and can only be inserted into a detail
or detail assembly.

3.4.4 Drawings
3.4.4.1
Detail drawings
Position numbers can be allocated to detail symbols in the detail drawings. These
position numbers then identify the detail in the parts list.
Through the position number table, the label of the detail symbol can be output directly
on to the detail drawing.
Using the Detail-Identifier title block, the identifier of the detail - which is referenced in
the drawing container - can additionally be output to the drawing. If the Identifier
changes in the detail, then the drawing will be updated automatically when next
opened.
Project Models
57
3.4.4.2
There is a detail bubble available for the labeling of details in a substation. The detail
bubble points to the position of the detail text which in turn is showing the location of
the detail. Detail bubbles are mostly used in assembly drawings.
3.4.4.3
Since each detail has its own drawing in its own drawing container, the use of the detail
function leads to the presence of a large number of drawings containers. These can
easily and efficiently be printed using sheet lists.
Project Models
58
3.4.5.1
Copying details
Copying a detail from a template into the current project copies the detail along with all
detail assemblies, detail symbols as well as the detail drawings into the current project.
Detail symbols and detail assemblies which were already present in the current project
are then automatically merged.
Position numbers of the current project are adopted and the position number bubbles in
the detail drawing automatically updated.
3.4.5.2
Copying of assemblies
Copying an assembly from a template into the current project copies the assembly
along with all details, and therefore as above, all detail assemblies, detail symbols and
detail drawings. In this case, however, the assembly drawing comes additionally into
the current project.
Details which were already present in the current project are then automatically
merged.
Detail-Identifiers are adopted from the current project and in the detail bubbles of the
referenced assembly drawings automatically updated.

Generating field grids allows you to generate a freely definable grid as a basis for
building a transformer substation. The grid is defined by entering the distances
between the grid lines along the length (X axis) and breadth (Y axis). The grid is
inserted into the model as a block and can be positioned freely in space. Field grids
can be saved or deleted with the Save and Delete buttons. Once they are created, field
grids are saved together with the assigned voltage level, making them available for
future design work.
63
4.1
Input parameters
A detailed description of input parameters used for a field grid is given below.
64
4.2
The "OK" button inserts the currently set field grid into the drawing as a block. The field
grid dialog box is closed. In the drawing area, the field grid is previewed on the cursor.
You can switch between different possible insertion points with the right mouse button.
The field grid is positioned in the drawing either with a mouse click or by entering
coordinates.
4.3
If the option grid will be shaded is selected, a surface will be inserted in addition to the
field grid. When a station is displayed shaded, all objects located below the generated
field grid will be hidden by the surface. The field grid and the field grid surface are
inserted on two differently named layers.
4.4
Field grids can be edited at a later time. The field grid dialog is started with the pr_edit
command. The values of the field grid already generated are displayed in the preview
and can be edited. The changes made to the selected field grid are executed with the
"OK" button.

5.3.3 Clamps
Clamps within a wire connection are not displayed geometrically even if there is an
enTis geometry for the respective clamp.
Electrical equipment have two or more connection positions for clamps (connection
type 1 and connection type 2)
In the case of clamps, connection type 1 is always the connection to electrical
equipment and connection type 2 to a wire, tube or bolt.
68
5.3.4 Spacer
A spacer can be inserted below a multiple-strand wire connection. The distance can be
set when the spacer is selected (see illustration). The distance given defines the
distance between each spacer along the wire connection.
Since spacers are not displayed geometrically, these values are only relevant in the
evaluation of the parts list.
69
5.4
Wire parameters
All available wire curves are shown below. The behavior of the wire curves depends on
the Z-height of the selected connection points. The wire curves are named in such a
way that the first identifier indicates how the wire curve will behave at the higher of the
two connection points. For example, the wire curve SuSo is vertical downward at the
higher connection point and vertical upward at the lower connection point.
The wire curve free suspension differs from all others in that it has handles. The wire
curve can be freely edited via these handles.
Free suspension
Straight, no sag
70
71
5.4.3 Sag
The wire sage is specified as a percentage and can be between 0 for no sag and 100
for maximum sag.
72
5.5
The tube is a 3D tube that can be placed any way in space and whose control points
(tube points) do not have to be in one plane. The first and last selected points are
interpreted as connection points.
73
5.5.4 Radius
The radius is attached to each vertex of a tube. The last value entered is saved and
offered again for the next tube connection.
5.6
Undefined symbols
For wires, tubes, clamps, spacers and disc insulators it is also easy to use an
undefined symbol. For this purpose, the connection configurator dialog box provides
the red colored icons. The undefined symbols are symbols stored in the symbol
management just like all other symbols. The user can later replace undefined symbols
by editing the connection.
74
5.7
Here the user can select an existing connection. The connection components are read
out and used for the new connection. The same wire sag + wire curve or same tube is
used.
The command pr_vbmcopy can be applied both to wire and tube connections.
Copying a connection does not mean copying it as a geometrical 1:1 mapping but
copying the sequence of components. The copied connection is positioned by selecting
new connection points.
75
5.8
76
5.9
Deleting a connection
A connection is deleted with the AutoCAD command erase. The connections deleted
are always complete connection with all components. Deletion of single components of
a connection is performed using the pr_edit edit command.
77
5.10
Wires and tubes can be evaluated via both quantity and length.
5.11
Original diameter
The selected tubes and wires are converted to solids with the original diameter.
78
5.12
Chains
In primtech chains are a special case in that they can be integrated into wire
connections. If there is a chain in a wire connection, the wire is shortened by the length
of the chain.
Inserting strings
Chains are inserted via the primtech wire connection configurator.
When the chain button is clicked, the symbol management enTis is opened and the
AIS chain family is displayed. A chain can be selected and inserted.

80
Temporary auxiliary references are external references that can be inserted into
models.
Unlike inserted model references, temporary auxiliary references are not evaluated in
the parts list. No logical station structure is mapped via temporary auxiliary references.
All station models can be inserted as temporary auxiliary references, irrespective of
their relationship with the parent model.
Temporary auxiliary references of the same model can be inserted any number of
times.
7.1
81
7.2
Temporary auxiliary references can be shown and hidden with the command
"Pr_TempXrefShow".
Command: Pr_TempXrefShow
The command toggles between the states shown and hidden. This means that, if the
temporary auxiliary references are shown, the command hides them and vice versa.
If some of the references are shown or some of the references are hidden, the
command shows all references.
7.3
Temporary auxiliary references can be removed with the AutoCAD Delete command.
82
Freeze/Thaw / pr_layer /
The function pr_layer can freeze or thaw individual layers within a drawing. Layers
within external references are also considered.
The command buttons work as a toggle-switch: the layers are alternately frozen and
thawed. The function is available in the Freeze/Thaw-Ribbon and offers, per default,
visibility control for e.g. Thaw all, Electrical components or Foundation.
The visibility control can be adjusted or extended individually according to customer
needs.

10.2.1.1
Fixed length
Panels of the defined length are added in the space between two corner posts until the
remaining distance is less than the defined distance. This operation is effected in the
direction along the polyline for each fence segment.
10.2.1.2
Even distribution
The length entered is optimized between two obligatory points / corner posts so that
the spacing between the fence posts is the same throughout this segment. The
program calculates two values (one greater and one smaller length), for which the even

10.2.5.3
Fence panel
Fence panel inserts fixed fence elements inserted between the fence posts. The Height
value defines the height of the fence panels to be fitted. The Width value from the
symbol management defines the width of a fence panel. This position is automatically
reduced equally at both ends because a fence panel can only be located between to
fence posts. The only spacing offered is Fixed length because the length of the fence
panels is defined by the symbol management.
Clearance at bottom in the dialog box allows you to state the clearance between the
fence panels and the ground.

Generating a road
11.1.1 Point
The route of the road can be constructed with free points. The road axis is indicated by
an auxiliary polyline. The road is generated when you end the cursor function.
This option only allows you to generate straight road elements.

11.1.2 Polyline
The route of the road can be constructed with an existing polyline.
Select a polyline:
After you have selected the polyline, an internal check establishes whether the
designed arcs are large enough for the selected road section. If no conflict is found, the
road is generated and generation is completed.
In case of a conflict, generation is canceled with the message "At least one arc of the
polyline is too small for the selected profile!". The conflict can be solved by increasing
the size of the polyline arc or selecting a smaller road width.

The cable duct is a separate object with typical properties. For example, each duct and
each cover has a "Hatching parameters" property. That can be used to define at which
angle and with which line spacing a cover or ducts will be hatched.
If a cable duct is trimmed, the cross-sectional areas are automatically hatched. This
hatching can be changed individually for each cross-sectional area and each trimmed
component (duct and cover) with the pr_kkhatch command.

always performed at the end nearer the selection point.
The type of selection also defines which side of the joint will be changed. If the duct is
selected, say, left of the center axis, the joint properties are processed at this side of
the joint.
In the following dialog box, the flange shape is selected. The side duct, which has so
far only been connected, now forms a continuum with the main duct.
If "Arc" is selected as the shape, the input box for the arc radius will appear.
Note: The joint element can be no longer than the original distance between the end of
the "side duct" and the edge of the "main duct". That limits the radius of the rounding. If
you want to generate large rounding radii, leave sufficient distance from the main
duct. Pull the end of the duct back via the last handle to increase the distance.

If "chamfer" is chosen as the shape, the input boxes for the two chamfer distances
appear.
You can change existing flange shapes in the same way. Select the existing Arc or

The scaling factors of the selected objects are replaced by the calculated scaling
factors.
15.5
Transfer scaling
With Transfer scaling, the scaling factors of one or more coordinate directions can be
transferred from one object to another Xref or blocks.
Selecting factors determines which factors will be transferred.
Command: pr_ScaleBlk
Select the source object
Target object:
The scaling factors of the selected source object are applied to the selected target
objects.
124
16.1
The command sequence is analogous for all three command groups and will therefore
be described once in the following. The term translation stands for moving, copying or
stretching.
Command: SX
Movement? (X) <4000> :
(Entering X,Y or X,Y,Z is also possible) 6000
Select objects:
In the first part of the command sequence, the translation is entered.
In the second part of the command sequence the selection set is defined, i.e. the
objects selected on which the command will be applied.
125
16.2
Enter translation
The translation is defined differently in each case for the X-, Y- or Z-commands.
16.2.1.1
Up to three numerical values can be entered as the movement for the SX, KX and STX
commands.
Movement? (X) <6000> :
(Entering X,Y or X,Y,Z is also possible)
When 1 value is specified -> the movement is in X.
When 2 values are specified -> the movement is in X and Y.
When 3 values are specified -> the movement is in X, Y and Z
16.2.1.2
Up to two numerical values can be entered as the movement for the SY, KY and STY
commands.
Movement? (Y) <2000> :
When 1 value is specified -> the movement is in Y.
When 2 values are specified -> the movement is in Y and Z.
16.2.1.3
Only one numerical value can be entered as the movement for the SZ, KZ and STZ
commands. The value specifies the movement in the Z direction.
16.2.1.4
The commands memorize the last translation and offer it again as a default.
The value is only available during the working session.
At the start of a working session this value is 0.
Only one value is saved for SX, STX and KX. If, e.g., the value 3000 is entered for SX
and KX is called after that, the value 3000 is available there as a default value. The Y
and Z commands are analogous.
126
16.2.1.5
Coordinate system
16.3
The request Select objects: is used to create the AutoCAD selection set.
Individual objects can be selected, several objects can be selected with crosses or
windows or all objects with the All option.
The cross option is permanently set here and can be used directly.
If one of the commands is executed and RETURN is pressed directly in response to
the Select objects request, the command will be applied to the last AutoCAD selection
set.
127
17.1

Thaw all:
Thaws all layers in the model area and activates all layers in the model area.
This function bears no relation to the current view of the dialog box.
Colors:
Imports the color configured for each layer from the configuration XML file and sets this
color again in the layer dialog box.
This function bears no relation to the current view of the dialog box.
Freeze/deactivate:
The currently selected layer is deactivated and frozen. The function also considers
identical layers in nested Xrefs.
Thaw/activate:
The currently selected layer is activated and thawed. The function also considers
identical layers in nested Xrefs.
130
Command: pr_layfig
AutoCAD can associate Objects with the buttons which entail layer and colour settings.
After clicking a dialog button, the dialog will close and a geometie can be selected. By
pressing RETURN, the chosen objects are assigned to the layer- and colour settings,
and one returns to the dialog.
Note: The isolator and metal parts buttons only allocate colours to the selected
objects. The other buttons allocate both colours and layers.
131

21.4.2.1
An earth wire or detail symbol can be created by a right-click on the Model Manager
folder, through new in the context menu.
21.4.2.2
Deleting
Earthing material can only be deleted when it is not used in a model or in an earth
detail.
21.4.2.3
Copying
Copying earthing material is allowed. Copies can only be inserted into the folders
provided for them, it means earth wires to earth wires, earth components to earth
components. It is also possible to insert copies into other installations.
21.4.2.4
Replace by ...
The "Replace earth wires by ..." and "Replace earth components by ..." can be used to
replace one earthing material with another. This process will appropriately adjust all the
references, and will delete the earthing material that is to be replaced.
144
Properties
The "Earth wire" model type has the following properties:
Properties window for earth wires / line groups for earth wires
Every earth wire definition must be assigned to a line group. A line group can be
assigned to no more than one earth wire definition. Line groups that have been
assigned are no longer listed in the selection menu.
Default association with a line group:
When a new earth wire is created, it is automatically assigned to the next free line
group (in rising alphabetical order).
Updating the line groups:
When a Primtech model is opened, the current line group for earth wires that are
contained is updated, and the earth wires are displayed, corresponding to the number
of wires, using the line type defined in the line group.
145
Properties
The "Earth components" model type has the following properties:
21.4.4.1
The associated symbol must be drawn in the model space for the earth
component. It must be noted that an earth component is a 2D illustration which
is used in the earth details.
Earth component
146
21.4.5.1
21.4.5.2
21.4.5.3
The earth node detail corresponds to the detailing of a node point between two earth
wires in the network system (earth node). A earth node detail can be assigned to
multiple earth nodes.
147
21.4.5.4

letter (or identifier) of an earth detail is changed, the code letter or identifier is changed
in all the earth detail bubbles that are assigned to this detail.
Client identification:
(B)
(C)
21.4.5.5
In the model management, open the DWG for the earth detail in which the earth
component is to be inserted.
148
21.4.5.6
A dialog box opens in which the desired earth wire can be selected.
The lengths of the inserted earth wires can be specified in the detail with the PR
EARTHBOMINFO command.
The earth wires can also be drawn in at first as AutoCAD polylines and later defined as
earth wires with the PR_EARTHIMPORT command.
Earth wires are always displayed as Continuous lines in an earth detail. The different
line types are only shown in the earth network.
21.4.5.7
Part list information that will be evaluated by the primtech part list module can be
extended or edited in earth details.
The PR EARTHBOMINFO command calls up the Edit earth detail definition dialog
box. The part list entries can be edited here.
The command can only be called from within the open earth detail.
Command: pr_earthbominfo
The dialog box appears in two ways:
149
Part list information Detail free detail and Detail earth node
150
151
21.4.5.8
Non-visible accessories
A non-visible accessory that must be evaluated in the part list requires an earth
component with a small geometry to be created. The appropriate part list information
can be assigned to this earth component.
152
21.4.5.9
The item numbers for earthing material are inserted in the earth detail with the
PR_MSPNUM command.
The earth wires and components of the DWG for an earth detail can be edited
by means of the PR_EDIT command.
The earth detail now contains all the information for part list evaluation and for
illustrating the functionality of the earth detail.
153
21.5
If part of an installation, all fields from other installations, are copied into the current
project, all the dependent components are copied at the same time. Here this affects:
Earth wires
Earth components
Earth details
21.5.2.1
In the course of copying it can happen that the line group of an earth wire that is being
copied into an installation is already being used there.
The next free line group is automatically assigned to the copied earth wire.
154
21.6
The earthing network can be created, e.g. in a part station or bay of a project.
In the dialog box, select the desired earth wire and insert it in the model.
The earthing network can also be created using AutoCAD polylines and the lines
then defined as earth wires with the PR_EARTHIMPORT function.
The lengths of the earth wires are automatically determined by primtech for the
part list.
155
156
21.6.3.1
If two separate earth wires end at one transverse line, two node points are created; this
may be entirely necessary when, for instance, connecting to existing plant or when
working in different building phases.
If (because of changed geometry) the node point conditions are no longer satisfied, the
node point disappears, and the detail assigned to the node point, including part list, is
deleted.
21.6.3.2
A geometry is stored for node points, and this is used by primtech to display the node
point. The node point geometry disappears as soon as an earth detail is assigned to
the node point. If the earth detail is removed, the node point appears again.
157
An earth detail reference can only be inserted in the model space of a model.
The PR_insertMMelement function is available in the earthing toolbar for this.
A dialog box opens in which the desired earth detail can be selected.
Now all the earth connections or earth nodes to which the earth detail is to be
assigned can be selected according to the selected earth detail. During the
assignment the node points disappear and the green lines for earth connections
turn lilac. With a Free earth detail, the position at which it is to be stored is
selected.
The reference letters in the model space are only for information concerning which
earth node / connections a detail has already been assigned to. However they will not
be printed
21.6.4.1
An earth detail reference can be removed using the AutoCAD "Delete" command.
An earth detail reference can be moved to a different position by dragging in AutoCAD
or using the AutoCAD "Move" command. The earth detail reference and the node are
moved together here. The node is updated if the network system is changed.
158
Earth wires
A marked earth wire can be edited using PR_EDIT. Hence an earth wire can also be
changed to another earth wire.
Number of wires
A number of wires (0 4) can be assigned to the earth wire.
Depending on the number of wires that has been set, and the configured line group
(property of the earth wire), a different line type will be used for the display.
159
also possible to reset the length value for multiple earth wires. If one or more wires with
overwritten lengths are found in the selection of earth wires being copied, the software
will ask whether the overwritten lengths should be retained or whether they should be
reset to the drawn lengths.
All manually adapted earth wires in the earthing network can be marked with the
PR_EARTHHLWIRE command.
Part list evaluation
The Part list evaluation attribute will activate or deactivate part list evaluation. This is,
for instance, necessary for existing earth wires that ought not to be included in the part
list evaluation.
Earth detail
Earth details can also be changed retrospectively in the model space of the earthing
network using the PR_EDIT command. At this point only the match code (i.e. the
detail) can be changed.
160
21.7
The foundation plan with the complete earthing network and associated detail
illustrations are shown on the earthing plan.
A reference to the part of the station in which the earthing network is contained
is inserted in the model space of the drawing container (command
PR_DRWMOD).
In the dialog box which opens, select Earthing and construct the layout for the
earthing plan.
Align the automatically created view window with the earthing network.
Select the earth detail references and confirm the selection. (Multiple selection
possible, even from different earth detail references)
Further guide lines are added to the earthing bubble with the
PR_EARTHBEDIT command and hence an earthing bubble is connected to
several earth detail references.
21.7.2.1
A guide line that has been selected can be hidden using the context menu ("Hide guide
line").
The command PR_SHOWBUBBLELEADER must be used to show a hidden guide
line.
entegra gmbh 1996-2014
161
Command: pr_ShowBubbleLeader
Select bubbles or foot points:
21.7.2.2
When positioning the earth detail bubble there is an option for multiple selection of
earth detail references.
The foot point of the earth detail bubble is found for each earth detail bubble on the
basis of the selected earth detail reference. The insertion point of the earth detail
bubble is specified for one single bubble; the foot points of the guide lines of all the
other earth detail bubbles are then placed in exactly the same manner as the first earth
detail bubble.
Execute the PR_EARTH function in the layout space of the drawing container.
The earth detail illustration and the associated detail captions, which are
automatically inserted, can now be positioned in the layout space.
Using the familiar AutoCAD commands, earth details in the layout can be deleted again
or moved.

21.8
21.8.1 Totalling
Earth wires of the same type are added together to a single earth wire with a total
length.
21.8.2 Part list groups and units for earth wires and earth components
Earth wires are always output in the "Earth wires" part list group. Earth components are
always output in the "Earth components" part list group.

Wire sag
Input the wire sag (in %) that should be taken into consideration for the lighting
protection calculation. This value is valid for all selected wires in the calculation.
Choose rods
Any number of rod points of lightning protection rods can be selected. The selected
rod points are each displayed as a red ball.
166
22.2
22.2.4 Tolerance
The calculation with wires is approximated by calculating with rods placed along the
wires. This leads to a geometrical deviation between the chosen wire and the curve
resulting from the rods.
The tolerance sets the maximum deviation of the rods to the wire.
This value does not reflect the actual deviation of the calculation. The calculation is
carried out very close to the exact result most of the time.
entegra gmbh 1996-2014
167

Branches
Branches consist of several circuit symbols and additional geometry, normally lines
with which the circuit symbols are interconnected.
After a branch has been inserted from enTis, it no longer forms a logical unit but rather
it is merely individual circuit symbols with interconnecting lines.
Branches always use the latest revision status of the circuit symbols
When a branch is newly inserted into AutoCAD from enTis, it is always the last
released version of the circuit symbols used in the branch that is imported.
The circuit symbols in a model can be updated to the latest enTis version with the
pr_entisupdaterevision command.
25.4
In the properties dialog it is possible to determine for the whole single line diagram
whether the RCN or the RFC is to be shown on the circuit symbols. It is also possible
to define whether the customer identifier should be shown or not. The selection
operates on all circuit symbols that are inserted afterwards.

26 Creating drawings
26.1
Drawings can consist of one or more sheets (layouts). If a drawing consists of several
sheets, the drawing number will be identical and the sheet number is incremented
(sheet 1 of n).
Within the frame, view windows with defined properties are generated via the derivation
functions, which are explained in more detail below. View windows are assigned to a
sheet so that deleting a sheet also deletes the associated view window. Within a sheet,
it is possible to generate any number of view windows.
Drawing frames are always inserted in the layout space.
Drawing sheets
Sheets are objects used in model management. Special attributes of the models from
which they have been derived are passed on to sheets. The drawing sheet data is
entered in the Model Management and can be found via the Model Management.

Drawing containers
Check-in / check-out
The individual drawing container folders can be checked in and out separately and
independently of their referenced model.
Special case check-in: If a drawing container is checked in that references a new
model that does not yet exist on the server, this model is transferred to the server. The
referenced model remains checked out.
Creating drawings

Standard title blocks / frames are provided and referenced into a project by enTis. A
standard title block has no file of its own within a project; it merely has a reference to a
title block stored in enTis.
A standard title block cannot be altered, it always coincides 1:1 with the title block
stored in enTis.
26.3.6.1
A new client title block/frame can be created using the Create client title block and
Create client frame functions, found via the context menu in the Title
blocks/Frames folder. A new, empty model is created in the model management.
This model must be opened and a frame or a title block inserted from enTis. During
insertion from enTis, the model is automatically exploded with its source. After that
there is no longer any connection with enTis; the model can be customized as desired.

For the name, a list is displayed with the attribute names known in primtech. Thus the
user can access these quickly and conveniently for the definition. However he can also
supply a name of his own.
Default value
This value is read in and set when an attribute is inserted in a model for the first time.
After that, e.g. when reloading a model in which a title block is inserted, the default
value will no longer be accessed.
Creating drawings
200
Position locked
This controls whether the attributes may be moved by the user during insertion.
Position locked should be activated for the title block.
26.3.6.5
Styles with the same name describe a standardized layout for a title block or frame.
The same style can be created in different languages.
For frames, the same style can additionally be found in different formats.
When creating a drawing, it is only necessary to select a style and a language or
format; primtech then selects the correct title block/frame.

Drawing derivatives are created using the Create layout" dialog box. Drawing creation
templates for creating new drawing derivatives are provided there.
The dialog consists of the tree areas TreeView, ListView, and PropertyView.
Command: pr_createlayout

26.4.1.2
PropertyView
The entries that are required for the drawing derivative being created are made in the
Property View. The settings made here are applied to the selected drawing creation
template.
Language
If a language is set, only those styles that are available in the selected language are
offered in the selection for frame style and title block style.
Format
Defines the desired sheet format.
Frame style
The behavior is identical to that for the title block style; however the frame style must
additionally be available in the defined format.
Creating drawings
204
Scale
The scale applied to all view windows of the newly created layout.
Drawing number
Designates a unique drawing number within a file. The drawing numbers already used
in a file are offered for selection.
Sheet
The sheet number is always assigned to a drawing number.
The drawing number/sheet combination must be unique within a file.

205
Derivation functions
The derivation function generates the view window and sets the required drawing
derivative. primtech provides the following derivation functions:
Layer list
Which layers are visible within a view window is specified in the Layer list. All other
layers are frozen.

26.4.5.2
Starting with primtech 11, layouts that were not produced with primtech functions for
drawing creation will also be shown as sheets in the model management.
Exception: If a layout has the name Layout1, this will not be shown as a sheet in the
model management.
26.4.5.3
When a file with layouts that were created before primtech 11 is opened, the stock
layouts contained therein will not be automatically adapted to the new rule.
Creating drawings

This function is used to create a view window to which a plan type is assigned for layer
control.
The dialog box shown below is displayed for this purpose. Via the plan type you can
define which derivation function and layer list is used. Additionally specifying the scale
defines the zoom factor.
This function does not define a sheet or drawing.
26.4.6.2
Using this function, a title block can be inserted in a drawing layout independently of
the drawing creation functions.
If a layout contains several primtech title blocks, the pr_modifyLayout command
responds to those that are inserted directly at position (0,0) in the layout. If more or
fewer than one title block and one frame are found, pr_modifyLayout cannot be
applied.
26.4.6.3
Deleting
The AutoCAD Delete command can be used to delete layouts and view windows.
When a layout is deleted, the associated database entries in the model management
will also be deleted.
26.4.6.4
Storing
The drawings created are not transferred into the Model Management until the
AutoCAD Save command is executed.

211
When a title block is exchanged, the attributes of the old title block will be adopted by
the new one.
Creating drawings
212
The user interface only offers attributes for editing that also exist in the title block. If
attributes in this dialog box are not present in the title block, the corresponding input
fields will be greyed out.
Additional attributes that the user put in the title block or that were not envisaged in the
individual input fields are offered for editing in the table on the lower edge of the dialog
box.

213
Note: Changing the format or the scale only affects the title block entry and not the
scale actually displayed.
Transferring values
The following dialog box appears if you click the Transfer button.
It lists all layouts of the current DWG. The required layout can be selected. All entries
of the current title block are transferred to the selected layout.

To view geometries of one bay only, a field grid has a front and back bay section.
The command described below can be applied to AIS and GIS field grids. The
command can only be called in the layout area within a view window.
The pr_gridclip command clips all geometries outside the clip planes.
Command: pr_gridclip
Display of a bay:
This combo box shows all the virtual bays so they can be selected via their names. A
field grid can be selected in the model via the select bay button. AIS field grids can
only be selected via select bay because these field grids cannot be selected via a
unique name.
Scale:

The command acts on the property Freeze in current view windows. It therefore
controls the visibility of layers within the view window model area.
The command checks all layers that are configured as primtech layers in the
layers.entity file . Layers that were created manually by the user are not taken into
account by this command.
Because primtech works with external references, the layers defined in layers.entity
are substrings of a layer that really exists in primtech. Two or more layers with identical
substrings that originate from different external files for a layer substring family.
The command checks all layer substring families for their Freeze in current view
windows status. If not all layers of a layer substring family have the same status (i.e.
frozen or thawed), all layers of the layer substring family affected are set to frozen.
The command can only be called in the layout area. (i.e. not inside the view window)

27 Sheet Lists
A sheet list is a freely selectable collection of primtech drawing sheets. It can thereby
span several files.
The composed list can then be output to e.g. plot or 2D-export where it will then be
automatically processed.
27.1
In the model manager sheet lists can only be created in the drawing container or one of
its subfolders. Each sheet list will then be shown as a separate node.
Sheet Lists
218
Opening a sheet list displays the sheet list dialog. The dialog shows all the sheets of
the drawing containers that are in the model managers current folder and subfolders.
If the sheet list is in the top-most folder, all sheets in the station will be displayed. If,
however, the sheet list is in the earth details folder, only earth detail sheets will be
displayed.
Sheet Lists
219
27.2
A task can work through a sheet list. The primtech models corresponding to the sheets
will be opened automatically. Therefore tasks are ideal when the sheet lists span
several files
Important: tasks will be executed on the basis of the currently checked-out data (local
copy) i.e. the task will not check if the station data on the server is more current that
the local copy.
The following tasks are available:
27.2.1 Plot
The settings are essentially identical to the settings of the primtech plot-dialog that are
used within a model. The dialog section sheet list will be initialized with the previously
chosen selection of sheets. The selection can here still be changed freely.
Sheet Lists
220
27.2.2 2D-Export
The settings are essentially identical to the settings of the primtech 2D-dialog that are
used within a model. The dialog section sheet list will be initialized with the previously
chosen selection of sheets. The selection can here still be changed freely.
Sheet Lists
221
27.2.3 3D-Export
The 3D Export will be carried out for the models that are referenced in the drawing
containers.

After the user has selected a typical configuration, all labels that are inserted in the
current layout are compared with the labels stored in the configuration list for this
typical configuration.
Labels that should be inserted according to the configuration but do not yet have an
insertion in the current layout are shown in the list.
Double-clicking (or selection and insertion) on the list item starts the normal enTis
insertion process for labels. As soon as the new label has been inserted, the display list
is reduced to the newly inserted label.

Via the parts list manager, it is defined whether a replacement text will be used for a
symbol and what position numbers wil be assigned to these symbols. Therefore, with
the parts list manager you can ensure consistent assignment of position numbers
throughout a station.
The parts list manager is a child module of the complete station and is managed via the
check-in/check-out mechanism, just like all primtech models. There is only one parts
list manager for a complete station, making it unique. The parts list manager is
automatically generated when a new complete station is generated.
The parts list manager is called up from the model manager.
30.4.1.1
Symbol
30.4.1.2
Symbol instance
235
30.4.2 Functions
The functions listed below are provided in the menu line under the "Functions" menu
item.
30.4.2.1
All symbols used in the station are read in, irrespective of whether child models have
already been inserted in the complete station or only below the complete station as
models. All symbols are assigned position numbers by primtech. For this purpose, the
function "Set position numbers automatically" is executed automatically after the
symbols have been read.
Note: This is only possible if the entire station has been checked out.
30.4.2.2
Purging/Clean up
Purging removes position numbers that refer to symbols of which there is no longer an
instance, that is, no longer exist in the overall station.
Note: This is only possible if the entire station has been checked out.
236
30.4.4 View
30.4.4.1
The group tree shows all groups of the symbol management, irrespective of whether
symbols of this group have been used in the station or not. If you select a branch of the
group tree, all symbols that were used in the station will be displayed in the symbol list
area.
All symbols are displayed under the "All groups" group branch in the symbol list.
30.4.4.2
This view is available if position number geometries are assigned from AutoCAD and
there is a selection set of symbols.
The group tree only shows those groups for which there are symbols in the selection
set. The symbol list shows only the selected symbols for the selected groups. Even if
you select "All groups" from the tree structure, only the symbols of the selection set will
be shown in the symbol list.
30.4.5.1
Groups can be resorted within the tree structures by drag and drop. The sequence
shown in the group tree is used for parts list definition.
237
30.4.5.2
Renaming a group
With F2 you can rename groups as required. The text entered here is used as the
group text in the parts list.
To enable assignment to the groups of the symbol management even after renaming a
group, the Group options group box shows the original group name, as depicted below,
if the renamed group is selected.
238
30.4.6.1
Display
In the "Display" column you can select whether a symbol will be listed in the parts list or
not. The default is for all symbols to be listed in the parts list.
30.4.6.2
Fix
If this field is selected, no new position number will be assigned on automatic position
number assignment for this symbol, i.e. the position number remains permanently
assigned. All other position numbers are renumbered based on the value range for the
group.
30.4.6.3
Pos
For each symbol it is possible to enter a position number manually here. Position
numbers are purely numeric values. They can have any number of digits. The position
number must be within a value range of the group and must be unique within the
group.
30.4.6.4
Default
Each symbol has a default value. This default value is assigned to each newly created
symbol instance on insertion of a position number.
30.4.6.5
Alternative texts can be specified for any symbol that is used for creating a parts list
instead of the symbol descriptions from the symbol management. For this purpose, you
can edit the texts in columns "Description", "Short name", "Manufacturer", and "Type".
The background for use of alternative texts is that when modeling a primtech station
dummy clamps (or other dummy elements such as wires, tubes, or electrical
equipment) can be used that are not converted into clamps of a specific type until the
parts list is created. The advantage of this is that dummy clamps do not have to be
replaced subsequently in the CAD models but are replaced by a specific type for the
parts list via the alternative texts only.
239
Note: To be able to work optimally with the alternative texts, type assignment of all
clamp types in the station is recommended. These clamp types should then be
included in the symbol library.
It is possible to specify upper and lower limits for the position numbers of a group here.
The value range of the position numbers of a group must be unique within a complete
station, i.e. there must be no overlaps of the value ranges. This is checked when you
specify a value range. The Set values button activates the changes and the old
values are overwritten.
240
30.4.8 Factor
The positions will be multiplied by the relevant factor given in the parts list manager. A
factor not equal to one will lead to the respective reduction/increase in the actual
number of the position in the model.
This is helpful e.g. in evaluating the formwork in the foundation. primtech determines
the needed formwork in m3 for each foundation. Since each formwork can be used, not
just once but up to 3 times, this can be corrected for the evaluation output of the parts
list e.g. with a factor of 0.33
.
241
30.5
The position number assignment in AutoCAD is based on the position numbers stored
in the parts list manager. The position number stored in the parts list manager is used
for position number assignment. If the symbol is not yet listed in the parts list manager,
the symbol is automatically inserted in the parts list manager and is assigned a position
number on insertion of a position number.
30.5.1.2
Because clamps do not have geometry, they cannot simply be selected. Clamps are
therefore only evaluated if a wire or tube connection has been selected because the
position of the clamps can be evaluated via the connection.
242
30.5.1.3
Because usually only position numbers have to be inserted for certain symbol groups
within a drawing, this command can be used to specify for which groups of the selected
symbols a position number will be created.
Command: pr_sspgrp
Select objects:
The dialog box for group selection does not show all groups of the symbol
management but only groups from which symbols are located in the selection set. In
the first column you can select for which groups position numbers will be inserted.
30.5.1.4
Because within a drawing, lower-level models are inserted in a drawing, this command
can be used to create position numbers on symbols of a referenced model.
Command: pr_np
Select objects:
243
30.5.1.5
If a position bubble number is created for an object that hasnt received a position
number in the parts list manager, then the position number will be created
automatically in the background in the parts list manager.
However, if the parts list manager is locked (read only), then the position number
cannot be created automatically, so the position number bubble will contain the text
XXX instead if the position number.
The position number bubble will be updated and receive a position number, as soon as
it is created - for the referenced object - in the parts list manager.
A position number bubble update occurs when, in the meantime, a position number
was allocated to the object, when opening the file or when edited with the pr_sspedit
command.
.
244
Editing a record
A different value can be assigned to a position number with command pr_sspedit. After
you have selected a position number, the parts list manager is started up from
AutoCAD.
Command: pr_sspedit
Select position number:
30.5.2.2
The data set for the selected symbol appears in the position number list of the parts list
manager. The group tree shows the group to which this symbol belongs. However, the
displayed data set only refers to the symbol selected in AutoCAD, not to the symbols of
the same type or the symbol definition in the symbol management.
If the selection set contains all symbol instances of this position number (PosNo), all
columns of the data set can be changed (Fig. below). If this is not the case, all fields
except for PosNo are disabled (Fig. above).
Changing the PosNo only affects the selection set.
245
Transferring the next free position number from the context menu
Because the position number entered must be within the value range of the group, you
might specify a position number here that has already been assigned within the group.
To simplify this handling, the function "New Position Number" can be selected from the
context menu to insert the next free position number of the current group in the Pos
field.
30.5.2.3
OK, Cancel
If you exit the parts list manager with OK, the changes in AutoCAD are updated. If you
exit the parts list manager with Cancel, the changes are lost.
30.5.2.4
30.5.2.5
The assigned position numbers are always updated on opening a drawing. If, on
opening a drawing, you ascertain that no position number is stored in the parts list
manager for a symbol to which position number geometry is assigned, the position
number geometry is deleted. This can occur, for example, if a bay model has been
copied from another station with position numbers.
246
30.5.3.1
247
Moving
If you move a symbol, the number bubble of the position number geometry remains at
its location and the symbol pointer end moves with the symbol being moved.
Copying
Copying symbols does not also copy the position number geometry. If you want to copy
the position number geometry, it must be contained in the selection set.
248
30.6
The pr_inserttable command can create a position number table and place it in the
drawing. The position number table evaluates all the position numbers in a viewport
and displays their values in table.

31 Highlighting Objects
The pr_showPartlistElement command displays colored spheres on primtech objects.
Each insertion of the same object is highlighted with the same color. Different objects
therefore display different colors.
Objects are considered the same if they have the same position numbers in primtech.
The command is executed on one particular parts list group at a time.
The spheres are displayed for objects with and objects without geometries e.g. clamps
within a wire connection.
31.1
Undefined objects inserted through the connection configurator are always allocated a
red sphere e.g. undefined wires or undefined clamps.
31.2
If, for example, two clamps are defined at the same position, then they will be displayed
offset and next to each other.
Highlighting Objects
253
31.3
Highlighting creates - for every object with a different position number - different
colored spheres.
This is also applied to when an object has different position numbers. Especially in this
case of an object with different position numbers, it might be of interest to be able to
see if the position number references the same or different underlying enTis/project
symbols. The option no to Consider position numbers (i.e. to ignore the position
numbers) sets the display such that the sphere colors are based on the different enTis
or project symbol objects respectively. Objects with different position numbers are then
shown in the same sphere color, if the underlying enTis or project symbol object is the
same. This option could be of special interest when working on clamps.

configuration.
In station model

Note: In case the lines are still being displayed incorrectly after configuring as above
then calling the REGENALL command usually helps correct the display.

With the option Bind Xrefs a single AutoCAD File without Xrefs will be created.
257
34 2D Export
34.1
The 2D export is used to export 3D primtech drawings in the form of pure AutoCAD 2D
drawings, containing only 2D geometry, and not containing any primtech objects that
could display proxy messages when the application is not present. 3D geometries are
converted here automatically into 2D geometries.
Command: pr_2DExport
The "pr_2DExport" expects two parameters after it has been called, and these are
described below:

35 Replication
35.1
Replication generally
Replication is the multiplication of data. The replicated data (replicates) are usually kept
at different locations. This ensures data backup and permits viewing and editing of
large volumes of data at separate locations without placing a burden on the network.
It is therefore important to know how up to date the replicates are.
Depending on the type of replication, a certain time is will elapse between creation and
replication of the primary data. This time period is termed timeliness or latency.
Replication
261
35.2
Replication in primtech
Making complete stations editable locally and across locations (worldwide) requires an
adapted replication mechanism. This mechanism must be capable both of the delta
comparison of the databases (global DB) and of coordination of simultaneous editing
(concurrent engineering).
Published complete stations are stored in the global DB, the global container. The
global DB is part of the public folder.
The global DB is replicated asynchronously with all locations.
Newly published stations are distributed to the different locations by regular replication
during idle times. Regular replication distributes the data traffic among the locations.
Replication includes the databases enTis and global DB.
Targeted replication on check-in/check-out permits concurrent engineering. In target
replication, only individual records of the global DB have to be replicated. The
exchange and checking of the processing statuses are important for target replication.
Replication
262
35.2.3.1
Owner location
If a user creates a new complete station and publishes it in the global DB, the location
of the user is defined as the owner of this complete station.
Creator location of the complete station = owner location of the complete station
All model data (part stations, bays, etc.) that are added to this complete station inherit
the owner location of the complete station, irrespective of the location at which the
model data are actually created.
The owner location assumes a central role in replication. Here, editing is coordinated
and the currently valid model data are managed.
35.2.3.2
Consumer location
After replication between the locations, the stations of the global DB are available at
different locations. The complete stations that were not created at the location being
considered are consumed during replication. This location is therefore known as the
consumer location.
Complete station not created at this location = consumer location
A link between the owner and the consumer locations is mandatory for replication.
Regular replication
Check-out replication
Check-in replication
The current data do not have to be available at the location in question until the data
are called for editing, checked out, i. e. editability must be checked before editing and
the up-to-date version provided at the check-out location, if necessary.
Replication is always performed between the consumer and owner location and is
initiated by the consumer.
During replication, properties such as timestamp, key, and lock are compared and after
a check of the timeliness and validity, the relevant records are exchanged between the
consumer and owner locations.
Replication
263
35.2.4.1
Regular replication
35.2.4.2
Check-out replication
Check-out replication is part of the check-out operation. This is initiated by the user.
The check-out function is available in the context menu of an editable, published file.
Before the model data are transferred from the global DB of the location to the local
container (private folder) of the user, editability must be checked and timeliness
established. Editing is not possible until the current data are available at the owner
location and these can be transmitted to the consumer location (cf. Check-in
replication).
Replication
264
35.2.4.3
Check-in replication
Check-in replication is part of the check-in operation. This is initiated by the user. The
check-in function is available in the context menu of a published file that was selected
for editing.
Before model data are transmitted from the local container of the user to the global DB
of the location, the validity of this operation must be checked. The operation can be
invalid if, for example, publication has been revoked by the owner or administrator.
Caution: After the check-in, a further replication between the consumer and owner
locations is necessary to replicate the edited data from the consumer location to the
owner location. Only when the current data are again available at the owner location,
can the complete station be called and edited by a user of another location.
Replication
265
35.3
The Model Management provides the model data of the various databases.
The structure is divided into the areas:
Private folder
Checked-out
Public folder
Checked-in
Global DB
Archive
Replication
266
The model data are moved from the public folder, checked-in, into the global DB area.
The station is available globally after completion of publishing, but initially only at the
owner location.
To make the station visible at other locations, too, replication, a delta comparison of the
global DB, is necessary.
Replication
267
35.3.1.1
Distributors
The home location will be selected automatically and cannot be de-selected. All other
locations must be selected explicitly, i.e., no other locations are selected in advance!
After publication, the station is expanded by the distributor node.
The distributor can be changed again on workstations at the owner location. To make a
change, it is necessary to check out the distributor object. The distributor object can be
checked out independently of the rest of the station.
The distributor can be changed by the user by means of the Distributor dialog box.
If the distributor is being expanded by further locations, a scheduled replication will be
required (usually takes place at night) so that the complete station will be visible to the
additional locations.
A location can only be removed from the distributor if no part of the station at this
location is checked out. The station only disappears from the removed location with the
next scheduled replication.
A complete station or parts of it cannot be checked out while their distributor is checked
out.
When publication for a station is removed, the distributor is deleted. The distributor will
not be copied when a station is being copied from the global container.
Replication
268
After the function has been called, the globally published data are moved from the
global DB to the public folder, checked-in. These changes are initially only visible at the
owner location. The model data are retained at the consumer locations until the next
replication. However, check-in and check-out are no longer possible at the consumer
locations.
Stations called for editing can no longer be written back using the check-in
functionality.
Replication
269
With the >> Retrieve function from the context menu, it is possible to retrieve files as
read-only from the global DB. This operation retrieves the up-to-date data of the global
container. Retrieval does not affect further editability or concurrent engineering.
35.3.3.2
Undoing check-out
The >> Uncheckout function on the context menu enables the user to release stations
checked out for further processing without writing back the modified data. A replication
is initiated in which the validity of this process is tested.
Changes to the retrieved data are discarded and the local model data are replaced
from the global DB

Software or the user guidance shall not be construed as undue adjustment in the
meaning of the aforesaid sentence of this Section 7.2.1.
7.2.2 Workarounds: If a Quality Defect cannot be rectified by repairing or replacing the
Software Product, the Licensor may provide the Licensee with workarounds for the
respective defect. To the extent reasonable, such workarounds shall be considered a
rectification of the Quality Defect.
7.3 Statutory Rights: The Licensees rights pursuant to mandatory statutory law to
lower payment, withdraw from the Agreement and to claim damages or futile expenses
in case of a Quality Defect remain unaffected.
7.4 Notification and Indemnification: The Licensee shall notify the Licensor without
undue delay of any Infringement Claim giving reasonable details. The Licensor shall
promptly assume full control over any court- or out-of-court defence activities of the
Licensee against such Infringement Claim.
7.5 Failure To Assume Control: If the Licensor fails to assume full control over the
defence of the Licensee as set forth under Section 7.4 above within thirty (30) days

written request and at the expense of the Licensor, reasonable assistance to the
Licensor to support the Licensor in the settlement of and/or defence against the
Infringement Claim.
7.7 No Liability under this 7 8: The Licensor shall not be liable to the Licensee under
Sections 7.1 to 7.6 above if and to the extent the Infringement Claims or Quality
Defects are based solely on an alteration or modification or use of the Software
Product by the Licensee which is not in compliance with this Agreement.
7.8 Compensation of Debug Activities: The Licensee shall reimburse the Licensor for
costs resulting from activities to rectify (alleged) defects in the Software Product in an
amount set forth in the Licensors then current price list if to the Licensees
knowledge or gross negligent lack of knowledge the Software Product is free of such
alleged defect or the Licensor is not obliged to rectify such defect pursuant to Section
7.1 to 7.7 above.

Software Product in accordance with Section 6.2 of this Agreement. Claims for
damages of the Licensee based on a wilful or gross negligent breach of duty, an injury
to life, body or health or claims based on a fraudulent concealment of defects, a breach
of a guarantee in the meaning of Section 444 BGB given by the Licensor or claims
based on the German Product Liability Act shall be statute-barred as set forth by
mandatory statutory law.
7.10 Warranty for merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose is excluded.
7.11 The Software interacts with different other software products (such as Microsoft).
Any warranty or liability for errors or defects of those other software products is
excluded.
7.12 Warranty for calculation results and reports, including parts lists, is excluded. The
results should always be checked on plausibility and cross-checked with a second
independent calculation method where appropriate.
7.13 The product symbols provided in the Software only depict the approximate form
and size of the product. The actual form and size may deviate. The Licensee may
adapt the symbols to the actual sizes of the products planned to be used by the
Licensee. Any use of the symbols is at the own risk of the Licensee.
8. Liability
8.1 Liability: The Licensors liability irrespective of its legal ground shall be limited
as follows:
8.1.1 Unlimited Liability: The Licensor shall be liable without limitations:
a. in case of intent and gross negligence,
b. in case of injuries to life, body or health,
c. pursuant to the terms of the German Product Liability Act, or
d. under a guarantee granted by the Licensor.

300
performance agreed hereunder shall be extended by the time such Acts of God exist
plus reasonable starting time thereafter. The Party affected by an Act of God shall
inform the other Party without undue delay of such Act of God and the
expected duration thereof. If an Act of God lasts for more than 3 subsequent months,
either Party may withdraw from this Agreement.
8.3 No liability: The Licensor shall not be liable irrespective of the legal grounds except
as expressly set forth in Sections 8.1 to 8.2 above.
8.4 Limitation of Action: The Licensors liability pursuant to Section 8.1.1 lit (b) to (d)
above and in case of intent shall be time-barred within the statutory period. In all other
cases the Licensors liability shall be time-barred as set forth in Section 7.9 above.
Section 199 German Civil Code shall apply.

11.2 Venue: The district court (Landgericht) of 76113 Karlsruhe, Germany shall have
exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute - including product liability claims - arising out of
or in connection with this Agreement.
11.3 Written Form: Amendments and additions to this Agreement, including
amendments to or a waiver of this written form requirement shall be made in writing.
11.4 Severability: Should individual terms of this Agreement be or become invalid or
unenforceable or in case this Agreement contains omissions, this shall not affect the
validity of the remaining terms. Instead of the invalid, unenforceable or missing term,
such valid and enforceable term shall be deemed to have been agreed upon between
the Parties which the Parties would reasonably have agreed upon taking into account
the economic purpose of this Agreement had they been aware at the conclusion of this
Agreement that the relevant term was invalid, unenforceable or missing.
