395yds/361m, 100% wool): 2 hanks.
INSTRUCTIONS
Body of sweater
With crochet hook and waste yarn, provisionally cast on
52 sts.
RS: With working yarn and larger circular needles, k4 for
button band, pm, k5 for front, pm, k8 for sleeve, pm, k18
for back, pm, k8 for sleeve, pm, k5 for front, pm, k4 for
button band, do not join into round.
WS: k4 for button band, purl across to last 4 sts, k4.
On each RS row, increase 1 st next to each stitch on either
side of marker (except for button band markers) 8 sts
increased.
AT THE SAME TIME, Work in ridge pattern for body of
sweater.
First buttonhole will be placed at 7th row by k2, yo,
k2tog, then every following 7th garter ridge until end 8
buttonholes total.
Continue working until 23 raglan increases have been
worked; there are 64 sts between markers for the back, 32
for each front and 54 for each sleeve - 236 sts.
Divide Body and Sleeves
Work 2 rows even, or until a compete repeat of Ridge
Pattern for Body of Sweater has been completed.
Next Row (WS): Continue working on pattern to sleeves,
place sleeve sts on waste yarn, CO 3 sts at underarm,
continue working to next sleeve, repeat, work to end 134
sts.
Body
Begin lace pattern and work straight for 5 reps.
Switch to smaller circular needles and work in garter st for

k2tog: knit 2 sts together - 1 st decreased.
p: purl.
pm: place marker.
ssk: [slip 1 knitwise] twice, knit 2 sts together through

Sleeves
Put sleeve sts on larger DPNs, divide evenly.
Pick up 2 sts from underarm, pm for BOR 56 sts.
Working in ridge pattern for sleeves, dec 1 st on
each side of marker every 5th rnd 2 sts
decreased.
Continue until 34 sts remain.
Switch to smaller DPNs, *knit 1 rnd, purl 1 rnd*
five times.
BO loosely with larger needle.
Repeat for other sleeve.
Collar
With larger circular needle, unravel waste yarn
from neck edge 52 sts.
Work in garter st for 2.5.
BO loosely knitwise.
Finishing
Block lightly.
Weave in all loose ends with tapestry needle.
Sew buttons on to correspond with buttonholes.
