SHOULD YOUR CONSCIENCE BE YOUR GUIDE

Romans 8:14, 16, " F o r as many
as are led by the Spirit of God,
they are the sons of G o d . . . T h e

with our s p i r i t , that we a r e the
children of G o d . "
After you a r e born again the man
on the inside, the inward man,
has become a new man in C h r i s t .
We need to let this inward man
be the dominate one, not the
outward man. P r e s e n t your bod
ies to God, a l i v i n g s a c r i f i c e .
You
see f r i e n d s , that is not at
all what we have thought many
t i m e s . I think the reason that
people have different ideas and
concepts that they p r e s e n t is b e
cause they don't understand the
new birth thoroughly. Some p e o
ple
have thought that we w e r e
just justified. Thank God we a r e ,
but we a r e m o r e than justified.
W e ' v e b e c o m e a new mana
new c r e a t u r e - - i n C h r i s t .
T h i s man on the inside, which
is the s p i r i t of man through
whom God w i l l deal with us,
has become a new man. The o l d
things that w e r e in this old man,
are gone now. Spiritual death
was in t h e r e . T h e nature of the
devil was in t h e r e . Hatred was in
t h e r e . L y i n g was in t h e r e . But
now
the f o r m e r things a r e r e
placed by the l o v e of God, the
nature of God, the life of God.
On
the inside we have a new
nature. W e ' v e b e c o m e a new
man in Christ Jesus, old things
have passed away. T h i s i s the
m a n - - t h i s inward man, this new
man--that i s to be the dominate

one.
W e a r e to listen to h i m ,
because it i s through this man,
through our s p i r i t , that God w i l l
guide us.
T h i s inward man has a v o i c e .
We
c a l l the v o i c e c o n s c i e n c e .
S o m e t i m e s we c a l l it intuition o r
guidance. If w e haven't been
taught c o r r e c t l y , h o w e v e r , we
w i l l not be able to f o l l o w the
inward v o i c e .
T h e r e is much discussion a m
ong
church p e o p l e whether or
not the c o n s c i e n c e of man is a
safe guide. W e l l , l e t ' s put it
this w a y : If your s p i r i t has b e
c o m e a new man in C h r i s t Jesus,
then your c o n s c i e n c e i s a safe
guide* because your c o n s c i e n c e
is the v o i c e of your s p i r i t . It i s
by your c o n s c i e n c e , o r the v o i c e
of your s p i r i t , that God guides
you.

his c o n s c i e n c e . That changed
my
thinking along this l i n e . Of
c o u r s e the s p i r i t s of
those
p e o p l e outside C h r i s t , who have
n e v e r been born again would be
u n r e g e n e r a t e . With the nature of
the d e v i l in it they
couldn't
f o l l o w the v o i c e of their s p i r i t .
T h e i r c o n s c i e n c e would p e r m i t
them to do anything. Isn't that
r i g h t ? But when you have the
nature and l i f e of God in you,
your c o n s c i e n c e won't p e r m i t
you
to do o r say just anything.

We need to be s p i r i t - c o n s c i o u s .
I want you to notice that in
Romans 8, Paul said two things.
F i r s t he said, " T h e Spirit H i m
s e l f b e a r e t h w i t n e s s with our
s p i r i t , that we a r e the children
of G o d . " T o o many t i m e s people
think that this witness he is

ness with our s p i r i t s . "

these p e o p l e ' s l i v e s . T h e y happ
ened a t i m e or two in the e n t i r e
l i f e t i m e of s o m e . T o o many
t i m e s , all the time we a r e s e e k
ing guidance, that inward v o i c e
is t r y i n g to get our attention.
God i s t r y i n g to bear witness
with our s p i r i t s . He is t r y i n g to
get our attention, trying to t e l l

I ' m w e l l satisfied that if w e

w e r e to l e a r n d e v e l o p m e n t , and
l e a r n to train and educate our
s p i r i t s , in the p r o c e s s of t i m e
even in the m i n o r incidents of
l i f e w e would know inside with
a " y e s " o r a "no" just what to
do. W e spend p r a c t i c a l l y our
entire l i f e t i m e in the mental
r e a l m and in the physical r e a l m .
W e ' v e d e v e l o p e d our heads a l o t
of t i m e s at the expense of our
h e a r t s . In other w o r d s , the
knowledge of our i n t e l l e c t s has
taken the throne of our l i v e s
and our s p i r i t s which should
guide us a r e kept locked away
in p r i s o n , so to speak, o r shut
up and not p e r m i t t e d to func
tion. That inward v o i c e i s s e e k
ing to g i v e
guidance to our
minds.

W e all know that if we had

listened to that inward v o i c e
there a r e a thousand and one
things we would n e v e r have
done. If w e had listened to an
inward v o i c e , many t i m e s when
w e ' v e i n v e s t e d and lost money
would not have taken p l a c e .
If we had listened to an inward
voice we
would never have
chosen c e r t a i n p e r s o n s as our
companions. I ' m not just talk
ing about m a r r i a g e , but also
about c e r t a i n p e o p l e with whom
we get i n v o l v e d .
I know of s e v e r a l cases, much
like that. I ' m thinking of one
just now that took place y e a r s
ago when m o n e y was m o n e y .
$20,000 doesn't sound v e r y big
to us today, but going back
into d e p r e s s i o n days $20,000
was
a fortune. I r e m e m b e r
back in those days a dear S p i r i t filled man went in with another
f e l l o w with $20,000it would be
like $200,000 today. He lost
$15,000 in that deal for the
s i m p l e r e a s o n that
he just
s i m p l y couldn't f o l l o w the p r a c
t i c e s that the other man was
c a r r y i n g on.
T h i s man said to m e , " I f I had
listened to an inward v o i c e , I
wouldn't have done that. I s e e
that now." W e l l , if that be true,
if God does lead us by this
inward w i t n e s s and
inward
v o i c e , then w e need to know i t .
W e w i l l a v e r t a lot of mistakes
that we m a y have made.

Last April in one of your meetings, you

prayed for me at the close of a service.
I had been disabled five years with emphy
sema. At the time I walked up to be
prayed for, a warmth just kept g3ing
through me and when you prayed for me,
laying your hands on me, it became more
intense. You told me that I would be com
pletely healed and that this warm feeling
would continue for about three weeks. It
happened just as you said, and for the next
three weeks I kept spitting up long strings
of black, dead flesh (or that's what it
looked like). I went to the doctor to have
X - r a y s made, not for my sake, but for
others who asked me about this. I knew
myself that I was healed. The doctor told
me that my lungs were completely cleared
up and only scars remained. So I praise
the Lord for this miracle in my life. I tell
it wherever I go. And the spiritual part
is the best. He baptized me in the Holy
Spirit two days prior to my healing, and
it is just too wonderful to even try to tell.
We have your books and enjoy them so
much. And as well as thanking the Lord,
I want to thank you and I thank the Lord
for
men like you who preach and teach
the Word and who have faith in it. E.S.

and making it so understandable to me and
others that I have had the pleasure of
sharing your books and tapes with. My
husband was confined at home because of a
severe heart attack two years previous
which doctors had told us his heart was
so severely damaged and he would never
be able to work again. I started reading
your books to him and played your tapes
constantly. We have laughed many times
saying we had Brother Hagin for break
fast, lunch and dinner and in between for
snacks. Praise the Lord! It has really
paid off. My husband works every day now
and gives God all the glory and warm thanks
to you for your books and tapes for his
being alive and well today. When we found
your books they opened the door of a whole
new way of life and service for us. Our
lives have never been the same since.

I just briefly want to tell you what a great

blessing your ministry has been to me and
my family. You can't begin to imagine
what a change has taken place. Earlier
this year you were in our city and we
attended almost every service. We did
enjoy your messages but It was after
you left and we began to study some of
your literature that the Holy Spirit began
to reveal things that we had never seen
before. The Bible lessons on faith and
prayer have really been used to open
my eyes. Instead of defeat, there are now
constant victories in my ministry. We
continue to grow and to mature in spiritual
things. There have been several miracles
of healing in the lives of our children.
Also as we have learned to claim fin
ancial needs we have seen them supplied.
