    Motivation:
    What do you think of when you think of a sponge?
    a. Activity:
    Interpret the photos.
    b. Analysis:
    1. How are animals classified?
    2. What is an invertebrate?
    3. What are the main characteristics of sponges and cnidarians?
    c. Abstraction
    Living things can be sorted into groups in many ways. Animals
    consist of two major groups: vertebrates and invertebrates.

    Invertebrates are animals that do not have backbone. They have


    soft inner bodies which are held in a shape by a flexible covering
    of outer cells or by a hard covering called exoskeleton.
    Sponges are animals of the phylum. Porifera meaning "pore
    bearer". They are multicellular organisms that have bodies full of
    pores and channels allowing water to circulate through them.
    Cnidarians are radially symmetrical, jelly-like and have a nerve
    net and one body opening.
    d. Application:
    Why is it important to keep coral reefs alive?

    In a 1 whole sheet of paper, draw the body structure plan of a sponge.

    Have an advance study about the Invertebrates: Flatworms and Roundworms.
