    My impression on Christianity
    Among the three religious systems taught in the course, Christianity is the one that impress me the most.
    I would like to share my experience since my primary education, as well as comparison with Buddhism and
    Islam.
    In my opinion, Christianity is inclusive. In the primary and secondary schools I have stayed, there were a
    number of activities like fun festivals, study groups and sports competition. They are held by the groups affiliated
    with the local Catholic Church, though open to public. Through the activities, they can persuade outsiders in
    admission and adopting the religion. The believers are enthusiastic, kind and charming, which appears to be
    appealing to outsiders. They actually have done impressive work in accepting believers.
    However, Christianity can be repressive. In both primary and secondary schools, religious education on
    Christianity (Roman Catholic) was compulsory, which included examinations, regular Masses and prayers.
    Worse still, a pass in Religious Study in HKCEE was once the requisite for us to stay in the same school for our
    matriculation study (to attend HKALE) 1. There were occasions where news ideas were discouraged. For
    instance, sex education and homosexuality remain stigma in the schools I have stayed even now.
    There are ideas and teachings about Christianity I find them special. To begin with, it is unreasonable for
    us to bear the sin of the ancestor (if there is any common human ancestors called Adan and Eve). This contradicts
    our current idea about sin, which does not involve the innocent. Nevertheless, I think the Ten Commandments in
    the Old Covenant as well as the idea of loving your neighbor in the New Covenant are sensible. They can foster a
    harmonious and peace society as both of them act as guides for us to refrain from misbehaving and to be
    considerate. Regardless of the rationale behind the ideas, Christianity is indeed intriguing and influential.
    Christianity shares similarity with Buddhism on values like equality. In Christianity, Jesus taught us that
    we need to love our neighbors as we love the god. It implies equality as everyone is treated equally if we love
    each other and be considerate. Yet, Buddhism is one step ahead by treating all beings equally. Nevertheless, the
    idea of equality among races was innovative at the time Christianity was founded.
    Being Abrahamic religion, Christianity and Islam share similarity as well. The genesis, story of the
    garden and rituals are some of the examples. Christianity has focused more on love and self-restrain while Islam
    seems to focus more on obedience to the God and the dogmas. Christianity seems to be more appealing to me
    with the greater degree of freedom.

    I have deeper understanding about and experience with Christianity than Buddhism and Islam. For
    better or worse, it gives me great impression.
