PRE-ACTIVITY:
- Students will be made fully aware of the importance of staying with the group
- Students will bring whistles for emergencies (if they do get lost)
- Students will be taught that they must stay as one cohesive group, only walk as fast as
your slowest walker

IN CASE OF SEPERATION:
- Students will blow on whistle and stay where they are
- When the group notices a member is missing they will backtrack to said members last
known location
- Communication between group members is vital in maintaining each members
whereabouts at all times
IN CASE OF BREAK/FRACTURE:
- Group will walk at a regulated pace
- Difficult terrain will be judged and handled accordingly with each member either
confirming or raising awareness that they are able or unable to navigate said terrain
- Students have been taught First-Aid and will know the correct procedure to deal with a
break or fracture

- Appropriate equipment lists will be provided before camp to ensure each member has
satisfactory footwear
- Each member will be trained to have proficient first-aid skills as to know what do in case

PRE-ACTIVITY:
- Every student will be checked to see if they know how to swim and are proficient in it
- Each student will have undertaken the Surf and Pool Bronze medallion and is therefore
proficient and confident in administering CPR
IN CASE OF DROWNING:
- Before swimming/crossing in water the group will have a conversation about the safety of
doing so and deem whether or not it is safe to do so
- CPR and appropriate First-Aid will be administered to casualty

- Correct actions will be implemented according to type of emergency
ALLERGIC REACTION: Epi-Pen administered, Anti-Inflammatory ingested
ASTHMA ATTACK: Ventolin administered, group will stop walking

If serious, students will hike to the nearest rocky outcrop or water source and wait until its
passed satellite phone will be used to contact help in this situation.

- Students will make an appropriate plan in the case of a big bush fire (places to hike-out)
