Actions Outside of JMA
It is a privilege to be enrolled as a student at John Milledge Academy. Along

with that privilege comes responsibility in and out of the classroom, as well on
and off the JMA campus.
Therefore, the behavior of a John Milledge Student is expected to be one of

integrity, accountability, moral fortitude, and honor.


Because John Milledge holds students to such a high standard, they are

expected to thoughtfully consider their actions and how those actions could
negatively and/or positively influence themselves, their peers, their family, their
school and/or their community.

For all Sophomores
First step in getting ready for the ACT!
Math, Writing, Critical Reading, and Science
Administered from 8:10-Noon. Must be

present and on time to take it.

Practice for the SAT and can use the test to

qualify for scholarships

SAT AND ACT
Sophomores: Interested students are encouraged to take the

SAT or ACT second semester


Juniors: students are encouraged to take the SAT or ACT at
least twice this year.
After one testing, you will receive a reimbursement from
your Activity Fee.

Be sure to send your test scores electronically from SAT and

ACT to schools you might be interested in.

HONOR GRAD CRITERIA
Cum Laude Graduates are those students who meet

the following criteria:


Maintain an overall average of 90 in grades 9-12.
Have no major disciplinary record in grades 9-12.
Academic rigor should include:
A minimum of 6 honors courses

One AP Class and/or two dual enrollment classes

UPPER SCHOOL ACADEMICS:


HONOR GRAD CRITERIA
Magna Cum Laude Graduates

are those students who

Exceed the Honor Graduate criteria with a cumulative average of 93 or above,


Have no major disciplinary record for their 4 years of upper school.
Minimum number of 9 honors level classes in core subjects in grades 9-12.

Academic rigor should include a minimum of three or more of the following

courses:
Highest math or dual enrollment equivalent, AP US History, AP Government,
AP English 11, AP English 12 or English 1101-1102 at GCSU.
Highest Science or dual enrollment equivalent.

ADVANCED PLACEMENT
AP Tests
AP US HISTORY: Friday, May 5, 2016
Each test is 3 hours and includes both multiple choice and

essay questions.
Students also participate in a full-length practice exam in

December.

Regardless of the classes a


student takes towards graduation,
every student is required to take
CORE FOR FOUR.

UPPER SCHOOL ACADEMICS:


DUAL ENROLLMENT
We have a program available through Georgia College to Juniors and Seniors

who

Have a minimum 530 Critical Math and 530 Critical Reading SAT (or 23 English

and 22 Math ACT) and a High School academic GPA of 3.0 or higher (as
calculated by the Office of Admissions) OR

Have a minimum 970 combined Critical Math and Critical Reading SAT (or a 20

ACT Composite) and a High School academic GPA of 3.5 or higher (as calculated
by the Office of Admissions)

They must fit their college classes around those classes taken at the Upper

School.

Requirements for Rising Juniors:


Juniors taking one Dual enrollment course are expected to maintain that status

throughout the year. This would require students to take 5 classes at JMA,
including 4 academic classes and 1 elective class.

UPPER SCHOOL ACADEMICS:


DUAL ENROLLMENT
We have a program available through GMC to Juniors and Seniors

who

High school academic GPA of 3.0 or higher (as calculated by the Office of

Admissions)

Have a minimum 440 Critical Math and 480 Critical Reading SAT / 20 English

and 18 Math ACT

They must fit their college classes around those classes taken at the

Upper School.

Requirements for Rising Juniors:


Juniors taking one Dual enrollment course are expected to maintain

that status throughout the year. This would require students to take 5
classes at JMA, including 4 academic classes and 1 elective class.

UPPER SCHOOL ACADEMICS:


DUAL ENROLLMENT
We have a program available through CGTC to Juniors and Seniors

who

Have a high school academic GPA of 3.0 or higher (as calculated by JMA) o
Have a minimum 440 Math and 450 Critical Reading SAT / 16 English, 19 Math,

17 Reading ACT

They must fit their college classes around those classes taken at the

Upper School.

Requirements for Rising Juniors:


Juniors taking one Dual enrollment course are expected to maintain that

status throughout the year. This would require students to take 5 classes at
JMA, including 4 academic classes and 1 elective class.

Upper School Academic and Service Clubs:
Anchor Club: All girls are invited to participate in this service club.
Senior Beta Club: Freshman inducted in January who have maintained an 88%+

academic average 1st semester; must maintain an 85% to be a member in this


academic service club.

National Honor Society: Sophomores inductions who have maintained a 90%

cumulative average and shown leadership and service for membership in this
academic service club.

Fellowship of Christian Athletes: Open to all students.

Chick-fil-A Leadership Academy: Open to all students.
