The operator terminal can be used as a web server. Using a terminal applet, the operator
terminal can be reflected in the web browser Microsoft Internet Explorer. Version 1.00
of the terminal applet can also be reflected in Netscape Navigator. The terminal reflection has the same function as the real operator terminal and is used in the same way.
The operator terminal has to have an expansion slot to support the function.
Technical description
The terminal applet creates a reflection of the operator terminal. The operator terminal
with its project is then shown in the web browser.
Object status can then be altered, recipes written and so on by using the computers
mouse and keyboard. All the functions supported in the operator terminal are also supported in the terminal applet.
Two files are required for the operator terminal reflection to work:
***appl.cab
***.htm
The files are specific for each type of operator terminal and can be obtained from your
closest distributor of operator terminals.
Note:
The ***appl.cab file shall not be decompressed manually; this is done in the browser.
For the terminal applet to work the latest version of Microsoft Virtual Machine
(ver. 5.0 or later) must be used. The file can be downloaded from www.microsoft.com.

FTP (File Transport Protocol) is a standard protocol. When the operator terminal
(CIMREX 30 - CIMREX 91 of version 3 or higher) works as an FTP server, files can be
loaded to and downloaded from the terminal.
This document describes how to configure the operator terminal to work as an FTP
server via a serial or modem connection using PPP (Point to Point Protocol). An FTP
client is required to upload or download files. The FTP Client in the additional software
tools, WS_FTP Pro, Windows Commander or any other standard FTP program can be
used as FTP client. The operator terminal has to have an expansion slot to support the
function.
Technical description
The FTP server in the operator terminal only allows transfers in the passive state (PASV).
The operator terminal does not use dated files. The date shown in the FTP client should
therefore be ignored. National characters are not supported in file names. Files in the various libraries in the operator terminal allocate memory from the project memory. Information about available project memory can be found in the info.txt file.

A large number of different modems are available on the market. We have put together
a system that is tested with our products. The system consists of the following parts:
A PC
A PowerBit Executive DSVD 56K Flash-modem
The PowerBit-modem is a regular office modem that can be used as a link to
controllers as well as to the Internet. A cable that can be connected between the PC
and the modem, and a cable for connection to the telephone network are supplied
with the PowerBit-modem.

A Westermo TD31/32-modem
This modem is suitable for industrial use, and ready to mount on a DIN-rail. A
cable for connection to the telephone network is supplied with the Westermomodem. A cable for connection to the controller is not supplied, and has to be constructed.
An operator terminal
Any operator terminal can be used (exclusive of terminals with only one serial port).
To put the operator terminal in transfer mode automatically (automatic RUN/
PROG switching) a recent version of the system program for the operator terminal
and of the programming tool must be used. With previous versions of the system
program and programming tool, the operator terminal has to be put in transfer
mode manually before the transfer can be made.
Connection
The operator terminal is connected to the PC via the PowerBit- and Westermomodems. The PowerBit-modem is connected to the COM1/COM2 port on the PC
via a modem cable, according to the drawing below. The cable is supplied at purchase
of the PowerBit-modem.

Transferring firmware, projects and HMI-files to
an operator terminal using a PalmTM handheld
KI00176A 2003-05
HMI Tools for PalmTM handhelds contain three applications where it is possible to
transfer projects, firmware and HMI-files to an operator terminal using a PalmTM handheld via a serial connection.
This document describes how to configure the operator terminal and the PalmTM handheld. It also describes how to install the software into the PalmTM handheld. When the
operator terminal works as an FTP server, files can be loaded to and downloaded from
the terminal using the serial protocol PPP (Point to Point Protocol).
The installation will create three new applications in the PalmTM handheld: HMI Files,
HMI Project and HMI Sysload.

In the Point-to-Point Protocol (PPP), the Link Control Protocol (LCP) establishes,
configures, and tests data-link Internet connections. Before establishing communications over a point-to-point link, each end of the PPP link must send out LCP packets.
The LCP packet either accepts or rejects the identity of its linked peer, agrees upon
packet size limits, and looks for common misconfiguration errors.

Technical description
Unicode is a worldwide character-encoding standard that use 16-bit code value to represent characters in many of the worlds languages. Previous character-encoding standards such as the Microsoft Windows ANSI character set use 8-bit code values or
combinations of 8-bit values to represent the characters used in a specific language or
geographical region.
In Microsoft Windows 2000 and Windows XP an input method editor (IME) allows
computer users to enter complex characters and symbols, such as Japanese characters,
by using a standard keyboard.

* Analog values can consist of bytes that represent memory cells, inputs or outputs.
All data types consist of byte areas. Addressing is always byte-specific, regardless of
wether it is 1, 16, or 32 bits. The addresses are always decimal, 0- 65535.
The project memory determines the maximum length of the data block (DB) in
SIMATIC S7. The operator terminal can access all data blocks in the controller.

Check that the HMI profile has been downloaded to the controller and that the connection between the operator terminal and the controller is made properly according
to section 4.
Put the controller in RUN mode.
Put the operator terminal in RUN mode.
If everything is working the HMI profile starts to handle the communication between
the operator terminal and the Siemens SIMATIC S7.
The following section gives a short description of the HMI profile, HMI_kons.
8.1
The HMI profile with consistent data is used for Siemens SIMATIC S7-300/400,
which support the data blocks SFC14 and SFC15. For further information about
which controllers support the data blocks, see Siemens documentation.
The conception kons in the profile HMI_kons stands for consistent data, which
means that the whole message is read and written during one program cycle.
HMI_kons uses the data types MW200-MW255 and T99.
The different program parts in the HMI profile (HMI_kons) are described below.

Sending e-mail from the operator terminal
using ArGoSoft Mail Server
1
KI00236 2003-11
It is possible to send e-mail from an operator terminal. This document describes how
to configure the ArGoSoft Mail Server.
In addition to the e-mail server an e-mail reader, such as Microsoft Outlook or
Netscape Mail has to be installed in the PC in order to properly demonstrate the operator terminal e-mail functionality. The ArGoSoft Mail Server can be downloaded from
the Internet free of charge.

Configuration of IP addresses
When configuring the e-mail server and operator terminal, IP-addresses have to be stated. For conformity we have assigned the IP addresses below to the host (your PC) and
the terminal. These addresses are recognized internationally as the default addresses for
an internal network address, according to Ethernet standards, and will not cause any
type of interference if properly configured. The following entries are the recommended
entries for a demo application. If you configure the PC and the operator terminal with
these IP addresses, it is not necessary to change the terminal demo program.
Host/Computer IP address: 192.168.1.5
Terminal IP address: 192.168.1.1
User Name: adam
Password: adam
Domain name: mycomputer (xxx@mycomputer; in this example adam@mycomputer)
Double-click the agsmail.exe icon to start the installation of the program, and follow
the instructions.
When the installation program terminates, the ArGoSoft application can be started
from the start menu.

Mapping DF1-addresses (PLC/SLC) in
ControlLogix
1
KI00245 2004-05
The Allen-Bradley DF1 protocol is available for all the operator terminals in the
CIMREX-series. When connecting the operator terminal to the Allen-Bradley
ControlLogix controllers using the protocol DF1 via serial cable, a mapping must be
made in the Allen-Bradley Logix system.
Technical description
MallKI_BE_eng_0304
Page 1 (4)
KI00245 2004-05
The setup of the serial port for DF1 communication is made by opening the Controller
Properties from the Offline/Online menu.
Configure the communication settings under the Serial Port tab according to the
following table.

Set the System Protocol to DF1 Point to Point and the Error Detection to CRC
under the System Protocol tab. Leave the other fields with the default settings.
3.2
Map the controller tags to DF1 addresses by selecting Map PLC/SLC Messages from
the Logic menu.
For each file that is referenced to a PLC-5 or SLC command a map entry must be made.
Type the file number of the logical
address in the File Number field,
e.g. 7 for Integer N7.
Type or select the global tag that
supplies or receives data for the
file number, in the Tag Name field.
Multiple files can be mapped to the
same tag.
MallKI_BE_eng_0304
www.beijerelectronics.com
Page 3 (4)
KI00245 2004-05
Example
Use a 16-bit signed one-dimensional array for the tag name and reference it to file 7.
Since the array type is 16-bit signed the equivalent file type is N.
If you have an array name of Integer_Array(256), the map would look like this:
File Number = 7
Integer_Array
N7:0 = Integer_Array(0)
N7:1 = Integer_Array(1)
.
N7:254 = Integer_Array(254)
N7:255 = Integer_Array(255)
Example
Using an array of REAL devices instead would give following map:
File Number = 8
ex. Float_Array
F8:0 = Float_Array(0)
F8:1 = Float_Array(1)
.
F8:255 = Float_Array(255)
MallKI_BE_eng_0304
When all the desired mapping is finished, the controller project is transferred to the
Allen-Bradley ControlLogix system.

To achieve quick and efficient communication between the terminal and the PLC system, the
following information about how the signals are read and how to optimize the readings should be
considered.
6LJQDOVDIIHFWLQJWKHFRPPXQLFDWLRQWLPH
Only signals to objects in the current block are read continuously. Signals to objects in the other
blocks are not read, so the number of blocks will not therefore affect the communication time.
Except for the signals to objects in the current block, the terminal continuously reads the
following signals from the PLC unit:
Display signals
Block printout signals
LED registers
Alarm signals
Remote acknowledgement of alarms and alarm groups
Login signal
Logout signal
Trend registers at the sample points
Bar graph registers if using min/max indicators
New display register
Buzzer register
Backlit signal
Cursor control block
Control block for recipes in the PLC system
Directory index register
Index registers
PLC clock register if the PLC clock is used in the terminal
Alarm list erase signal
No protocol control register
No protocol on signal
6LJQDOVQRWDIIHFWLQJWKHFRPPXQLFDWLRQWLPH
The following signals do not affect the communication time:

*URXSWKH3/&VLJQDOVFRQVHFXWLYHO\
The signals from the PLC system are most quickly read if all signals in the list above are
consecutive. If for example 100 signals are defined, these are most quickly read if they are linked
to, for example, M0.0-M11.7. If the signals are spread out (e.g. I0.4, Q30.0, T45.3 etc.) the
updating will be slower.
(IILFLHQWEORFNFKDQJHV
Block changes are carried out most efficiently with the block jump function on the function keys,
or with a jump object. "Display signals" in the block header should only be used when the PLC
system is to force the presentation of another block. The New Display register can also be used if
the PLC system is to change the block. This will not affect communication as much as a larger
number of "Display signals".
8VHWKHWHUPLQDOFORFN
If the terminal clock is used, the communication is impeded as the clock register of the PLC
must be read up to the terminal. Downloading the clock to the PLC system also creates an extra
load. The interval between downloads should therefore be as long as possible.
Docmal_eng, 001110
3DFNDJLQJRIVLJQDOV
When the signals are to be transferred between the terminal and the PLC system, all signals are
not transferred simultaneously. Instead they are divided into packages with a number of signals
in each package. To decrease the number of packages to be transferred and speed up the
communication, this has to be taken into consideration. The number of signals in each package
depends on the driver used.
To make the communication as rapid as possible, the number of packages has to be minimized.
Consecutive signals require a minimum of packages, but it may not always be necessary. In such
cases there will be a so-called waste between two signals. The waste is the maximum distance
between two signals where they still can be kept within the same package. The waste depends on
the driver used.
